Hell yea! someone who knows something...right on! it takes me a while to catch on but I get it done thanks to videos like this...appreciate the vid...Paul in Indianapolis, the State where marijuana is still not legal :( dang it man! I need to live in Denver or DC.
MOST OF ALL, thank you for not talking and talking about every and anything except for what is necessary to explain what you are doing! Many people just talk and talk and talk about how the door handle came off and which one they need to go shopping for and then they have to talk about what store they need to go to and blah blah blah all this bullshit that does not need to be said so Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video. I'm 70 and use to be able to do these things, no problem. Now, not so much. The part you cut off was the problem. THANKS
Great video. I had a question. What size do the hole's need to be for the 2nd one in this video? The push button one? The directions don't say anything about the size of the hole's they just say drill holes. Do they have to be the size of the one's on that door your showing or do I just drill normal holes? And do I drill through the storm door from the inside to the outside? Or outside to inside? I would greatly appreciate it thanks.
Hey ray. Great questions. Just big enough for the post to go through. The drill template that comes with the handle should say on the template. 5/16? Also. Drill though either side I like to start with a small bit and drill all the way through as a pilot then drill the correct size hole. You got this!
Hello great video Just one question, does the length of the rod through the door affect the inside lock? I recently install a storm door handle, all good but it won’t lock.
Frank M. hey frank! If it secures and it’s flush it shouldn’t make a difference. You may try to reinstall it but have deadbolt engaged when you do it. I hope this helps!
Hey Danielle, yes definitely if it won’t go in all the way, then you may need to drill out the place where it goes. Maybe some of the jamb is preventing it from opening all the way. I hope this helps.
Hey Heather great question. If you’re button doesn’t Function you may have some spring and post issues try to pull it back apart and try the spring in a different position or make sure it’s set in there correctly. I hope this helps
Looking for some help. I have a push-button style. Almost exactly like the 2nd one in this video. Only difference is, it has a lock/key. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the silver part that the key goes in, doesn't stay in... Any suggestions?
@@homemend I figured it out... Felt like an idiot too. The instructions didn't tell me I had to turn the key in the lock assembly 180 degrees before attaching to door. But that's what did the trick.
Hey kcif it’s old and worn out it may not be able to tighten down, otherwise tighten the setscrew to secure the handle. As a last resort you could always pop some liquid nail inside the handle and said it that way. I hope this helps

Hey Ak. There are a couple different styles but most of them are adjustable. You got this

Thanks for the help im done
I bought a storm door that has a hollow in the door for a single latch. I have yet to find a door latch that would work with this door, what do I do?
Hey hey Gail. Great question. If you can’t find a latch that works, you would need to make adjustments to install and aftermarket handle
Are the handles interchangeable? My lever type broke and I always hated it. I want to replace it with push button type
Hey Debbie. As long as the spindle fits, it should work!
Hello great video
Just one question, does the length of the rod through the door affect the inside lock? I recently install a storm door handle, all good but it won’t lock.
Frank M. hey frank! If it secures and it’s flush it shouldn’t make a difference. You may try to reinstall it but have deadbolt engaged when you do it. I hope this helps!
Hello, I just installed mine but the lever will not open the door if I pull it down, only if I pull it up. What am I doing wrong? HELP
Hi, I’m not sure what style you have but you might try turning the handle around? Or maybe flipping the mortise around if possible hope this helps.
Please help. I can't turn my lock knob because it won't go over all the way. It's too close to the frame I think. Any suggestions?
Hey Danielle, yes definitely if it won’t go in all the way, then you may need to drill out the place where it goes. Maybe some of the jamb is preventing it from opening all the way. I hope this helps.
What can you do if push button doesn't push in after install?
Hey Heather great question. If you’re button doesn’t Function you may have some spring and post issues try to pull it back apart and try the spring in a different position or make sure it’s set in there correctly. I hope this helps

Robert Charron yikes Robert. Sounds like it’s missing something simple. A tiny flat washer, a pin or set screw? Was it new in the box?
@@homemend I figured it out... Felt like an idiot too. The instructions didn't tell me I had to turn the key in the lock assembly 180 degrees before attaching to door. But that's what did the trick.
You're awesome, Robert! So glad it worked out for you. Thanks for sharing!
I can not get the lever handle out
Hey patty. You may need to loosen the set screws on the side of the handle. I hope this helps.
@@homemend that worked ! Thank you
My new one has a Strike. I don't know what to do with it. The instructions that came with it are useless.
Hi Ann. The strike plate goes in the storm door jamb. It’s the catch that the latch Catches on. Lol I hope this helps.
@@homemend Thanks. These Chinese instructions are a pain.
My handle only is loose.
Hey kcif it’s old and worn out it may not be able to tighten down, otherwise tighten the setscrew to secure the handle. As a last resort you could always pop some liquid nail inside the handle and said it that way. I hope this helps
