My dad is a truck driver and he usually does all this stuff in the house. He's out on the road right now and my screen door handle in the back has decided to stop working. I legit can't thank you enough for this video. People like you make it easier to live.
😄😄 When I was younger I did the same thing who needs Instructions . . . . then Ikea happened 😵💫 JK . As i got older i learned to keep the instructions around just in case , now that I'm older these tutorial vids come in handy some of the instructions are printed so small i can barely read them🤓
Well said. Who needs instructions all that stuff at home depot is standard anyways. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard the word standard thrown around ❤😂
I really really appreciate your video. My husband and I are both mentally disabled and need a little visual aid to complete projects around the house. ❤❤❤❤thank you for your time
Thank you very very much for this simple little video!! I was so overwhelmed when i seen like 8 screws in the package along with a spring that i didnt even need. You truly made my day easier and made me impress my wife LOL
Thank you so much for this video. This video made the installation much easier to understand and follow than the instructional paper that went with the kit.
Thanks, your video really helped me with installing my new door handle. The instructions that came with it were super confusing and looked complicated but your video showed how simple it was to do and after watching your video, we were able to install ours in less than 3 minutes without any issues. Thanks again!
I had the worst time trying to install a new inside latch for my screen door; the screws going into the handle ( @7:40 ) are so long and so far away from the screw hole that I had to hammer in a couple of screw anchors to allow the screw to go in straight and align with the screw handle hole, otherwise the screw was going in every other direction when I tried to screw it in.
Thank you so much for this video. It walked me through the process of replacing my handle, I wouldn't have figured it out without your video, so from this "old girl" thanks so much!!
Thanks for the excellent demo. This has turned into a two-day project because my husband doesn't listen when I tell him to look it up on UA-cam. I'm sure he'll be viewing this shortly. 🤣 Hi, Daniel! 👋
Thank you. I'm an old gal (65) and love to tinker. Most people here in SE Ohio in the boonies have regular doors like this. Glad I found it hidden among the fancy doors. Much obliged, as my dear dad used to say.
Thank you Kevin! The package of multiple screws and lame instructions confused me until your video made it so simple. Yes, I did go back several times so I would get it right the first time, and thanks to you, I did! Must say, that I am not adept at putting things together so it helped that you used the very same latch I had. Thanks again!
Yours was the best one so far thanks. Even the actual Larson door video didn’t explain my door clicker. It explained the fancy door clickers. Thanks ☝🏻☝🏾👍🏿
This video is great...and you did a terrific job of explaining so many little intricate details that one like myself (an unskilled woman) gets very perplexed over. I had purchased and tried to install a cheap handle like the one you installed and the latching mechanisms was sooo tiny, it barely protruded. Then, I saw the ones you were working with and the big latching mechanisms and I knew that all was not lost. I just had to purchase a more expensive one! Thanks! I subscribed!
Great video and easy to unerstand. It's so HELPFUL to girls so we can do easy repairs ourselves. Makes all the difference in the world to see it done.😁
Update: boy oh boy did I luck out! Found the exact same handle at Lowe's that was on this door when it was installed about 15-20 years ago. Used the spring and little metal dowel from the old handle - both in perfect shape and the dowel was already cut to size. With this video as an easy guide, installed easily! Thanks again!
Great video!. I only wish I would have sat and watched it first before. I just banged my head spending 2 Hours replacing one of the three sets I have to do. This first model I did came with a key lock mechanism for the outside) Whoever wrote those instructions that came with the version that has the key lock mechanism in it should be FIRED from the company but actually as I just open the other two packets they're just as bad. Lol I'm staring at six long black screws and it turns out I only needed one set depending on the thickness of the door ( as you brilliantly pointed out ) and actually to all they had to do was put the words " optional sizes" and it would have actually made sense! Also, the version I just did on my door with the key lock mechanism kept simply falling apart in my hands as I was trying to keep everything together ( unlike This model in your video, every component was loose) so I discovered Scotch tape!!! Scotch tape will at least hold a portion of it together while you're trying to slide these screws through the door to put it all together without it all falling apart in your hands for 2 hours like it did for me.
Thank you for posting this video! I was able to figure things out very quickly after watching it. The directions were very confusing but after you cut the piece a little, it all made sense. I used a hacksaw! Thanks again!
The instruction manual actually wants you to use two pliers to cut the spindle to correct size. They don't even pre-cut it enough for it to snap off. Thanks to this video, I now know I'm going to need some actual machinery and I'll just pay someone to do it rather than buy all that equipment.
Hi, Thank you so much for showing how to put the handle on it was a big help, but 1 question when i tighten the screws the part that you push in from the inside locks up, but when i loosen up the screws it unlocks but the handle would be loose if i leave it like that any reason why that happened or how to fix it?
Hi Kevin ~ Well thanks to your video my screen door now has a new handle. Thanks so much ! The instructions looked so intimidating. Your video made it look so easy.
Thanks, Kevin. This was extremely helpful. The part I am having trouble with pertains to measurements. Seems like there are all kinds of different size handles, and I don't understand how to purchase the right size handle. What exactly am I measuring? I have an older storm door that still has some life left in it but many people tell me that the new handles don't fit the holes and thickness of the old style doors and that I should buy a new door. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!
I would say by 1 see if it looks like it'll fit if you think it will put it on if not as long as you don't damage it you could take it back to the store thank you for the comment.
Since your door opens on the right side (rather than the left side), the inside door latch is installed upside down. Is that the proper way to do it? These storm door latches can be reversed without making any changes?
You had to customize the factory part? Can't you find a latch that will fit right out of the box? Where did I put my Makita grinder? I do not own a hack saw.. wish me well.
@@Robinson-Homestead you might mention that the old spindle is probably in perfect condition and is certainly time correct size.... in my case I was able to purchase the same brand and model that I was replacing , so the new spindle was the same size as the old one. But I could have reused the old one.
Thank you for this video! I need to replace a screen door handle and this is very helpful. Do you like the pull style handle? I like it's look vs. the button style, but wondered if it functions well. TY!!
Kimber, your welcome, i'm glad my video helped you out, and yes i like the pull style much better especially when my hands are full i don't have to fumble with a push button i just pull the handle and it opens.
@@Robinson-Homestead Hi Kevin....well the pin thingy that has to be shorten fell inside the door . Like litterally inside the screen door. Geeesh. So it pretty much rendered my new handle useless. I just wanted to cry but laughed at myself instead.
The outside handle on mine does not go back to the regular position once I pull it up to unlatch the door, I have to push it back down by hand. The spring is installed but I can’t figure this out 🤔
