Happy holidays! I went to ocean beach last Saturday and it was packed! 1/4 mile down the the beach in either direction. Couldn’t even get a spot. Where is this spot at?

thx! i started copying the og's and got a lobster claw bander. game changer! you pin the claw at the elbow and they can't reach out to pinch. totally pacifies them and the big ones can't tear up the little ones in the bucket. $20 kit on amazon, i put link in description👍🏼

Killer day! How often do you have to change the water in your bucket?
so i tested something. only filled water bucket for drive home (with seawater), and instead of a bubbler, i hooked up a 120v fish tank aerator/ water jet. we ate 4 crabs within first 24 hours, other 4 48 hours later. all 8 combined purged an inch of sand and had white lungs after both periods, super clean meat and very tasty. all crabs were feisty at time of cooking, no signs of them dying or drowning. i think letting them purge min 24 hours with a 120v water jet is a game changer🦀🦀

QQ: So do you use converse with stocking foot waders? Any specific type of converse? I haven’t seen that combination before.
thx man. a long time ago an og suggested i try high top chucks with stockingfoot waders. i did it 3 or 4 years ago and still rocking the setup. some sand gets in the shoes for sure, but you get lots of traction, ankle support, and protection for the neoprene booties. probably not the $300 simms boots experience but tbh id do it all over again👍🏼
Sorry for the stupid question, but do you go barefoot in the converse? That’s an interesting way to go about it. I wasn’t completely sold on wading boots so this gives me something to put on my list.
so stockingfoot waders are waders with enclosed neoprene booties, instead of sealed boots. your feet go into the neoprene booties, then those go into the shoes👍🏼 i use frogg toggs hellbender ii stockingfoot waders, good value.

When did you go low, slack tide? Lower, upper or middle ocean beach. We went low tide, middle on Dec 26th no luck.
this was around outgoing low slack, closer to south side. i've heard bite has slowed considerably and may have moved, hopefully you find them next time though👍🏼
Sweet video dude, I need a few more reels with 50 lb braid to crab cuz the most i have is 30 lb. What type of gloves are those black ones? (Not the red casting one) i need a pair to keep my hand warm!
8 mill nitrile gloves, recommended! i went through 3 brands and this is the best by far. keeps hands warm enough but mostly to keep things sanitary. i put amazon link in description👍🏼

Ish, a quick question: I looked at the photos of the crabs with rubber bands on the claws but none of the RBs are keeping the claws from opening? Was that from the bands slipping when they tried or did open their claws?
Is it to keep them from fighting?
Keep them from pinching you?
im using lobster bands, so they're a little big for dungeness pinchers. instead, i band the dungeness claws at the 'elbow' so they can't reach out and pinch. it's kinda like putting them in a straight jacket, totally pacifies them. they can still pinch you, but mostly it prevents the big ones from tearing up the little ones.
it's the prevent the claw from extending, so they can't reach. they can only pinch in the unlikely situation (or if you're dumb enough) that something ends up right in between the pincher finger. this way you can basically pick them up however and they won't fight. it's more effective than securing the pinching finger because due to the shape, the bands can slip off if you just did that.

it's pretty nice! a little overmatched for a 6oz snare, but will be great for 2oz metals to the deep trough, or bait and wait for big stuff.

@@ritchieyang yes, totally. its designed as a lure rod, 2-4oz i believe, fast action. especially for heavy metals i think. i'm not doing justice with snares lol, but that's all i have to target with it for now.

Have you checked the toxin levels there? Can't keep them here in Washington, toxins too high.
dungeness are ok atm. there was a recent advisory against mussels but it lifted. good to go!

how heavy is your snare?
i use 6-9oz at the beach, change out depending on direction of the wash. i make snares 3-10 oz, all have their purposes👍🏼

A snagged crab is a illegal crab don't teach your subscribers or followers how to break the law there's more from where that came from I can tell that the game warden needs to watch that spot more closely
