Yeah I'll say it. First!
hey lol
THE MAN!! I know this is a late comment but, congrats on the milly i don't think i ever formally said it. Big growth fasho!
if i knew i could just snare bigger money bags opening weekend i would have stayed on land lol. live and learn🦀🦀
@@ishwithfish I went out on opening day when the forecasts mentioned 16-20ft swells... yeah they weren't kidding haha. Skunked that day
@@FishAnotherDay guess you had to ...🤨....Fish Another Day😎yeaaaahhhh
Another little tip standing water in your bucket is actually worse for the crab than no water the best way you can keep crab alive out of the ocean is a cooler with ice they will stay alive for 48 hrs +... I know this from experience multiple times not just once
Way to go Danny!! He saved the day!
3 crabs is better than no crabs 🦀🦀🦀
I saw on this other guys video, that he was crabbing in 100 feet of water, he had full pots..
so true, happy to get what i get. thx for the tip, i'll try deeper next time
keep your fuel tank as full as you can in the off season to give it less room to have condensation form. Disconnect your fuel line and run it out of gas every time. You really should run it back at home one more time with freshwater to clean out the cooling system. Stabil is also a must
thx! yup i follow all these steps pre and post trip. someone mentioned i could have a bad fuel line, so i got a new one and will run it with the stabil and seafoam in the tank. appreciate the feedback👍🏼
Thanks for sharing
Love that pot puller!
Congrats on those three really nice crabs😁
i think my other 7 wanted bonito🤦♂️
Funny!!! Summer time a month before crab season, there were hella crab but now it's crab season, they're not around.
that's how dfw set it up😊 summer months they come shallow to breed, right around oct nov they go back to deep water. keeps population sustainable👍🏼
Awesome setup! I only wish I lived closer to the beach.
thx!
The most important thing is that your SAFE and having crabs are the bonus🎣🦀👍🏽
very true bro, happy i got the help i needed. happy holidays to you and the fam🦀🦃
Educational as hell!
Those big red rock crab are really delicious even sweeter than dungies
yup, everything tastes good down there!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🥳
thx kuya!
Fresh crab!... congrats.
thx aaron! slow start, hope to pick it up soon tho🤞🏼
First of all glad to see you posting vids again Ish. I was out last week and the pots we dropped in 225ft of water had an average of 8-10 per pot. The shallows at 150ft produced nothing. With 8 pots out deep we got 63 keepers.
woo nice! how far out is 250' out of hmb harbor? i've only gone to 100', got nervous lol
@@ishwithfish straight out from the harbor it is about 5-6 miles
At 3:52 and while sinking, you can see some big gaps in the corners of the trap -- do you think maybe that's how the crabs got out, rather than poaching?
no, the gaps are really small, if any get out that way they're too small to keep anyways.
Aloha from Hana. Lookin great
Awesome video bro.
Happy belated my dude. Went out for crab and came back with knowledge. That's still a win in my book.
exactly! you're watching me learn on the fly ... hopefully people learn from my wins and mistakes.
If you got old fuel line it might sucking up air, make sure to place fresh line. Also try to use AMS oil it will make your O/B run better.
great tips, thx Jeff. i actually just ordered another spare Attwood fuel line, i'll see if it makes a difference.
Very good Info Dude, luckily this didn't happen outside before you went to dock. Good to see see you out again.
thx! live and learn for next trip, that's what it's all about.
I've noticed that crab wash up during bigger swell events, so I walked down Ocean Beach on opening day with a bucket and a gauge and picked up two keepers. Beats dealing with the 12ft. swells. 🤣
oo good strategy!
Couple poachers were caught in the act and photographed by the crab pot owners this past week. Good luck my man!
oo i saw a video of a confrontation at the dock, that must be it. those dudes are shameless smh
@@ishwithfish Link to video? Did law enforcement get involved? (got some good tips from your video today -- thanks!)
@@noahcoccaro3802 here ya go, around 10 min mark ua-cam.com/video/JTpjxmQhO-o/v-deo.html and thx for watching!
Lots of poachers, my friend Kahn who runs a 6pack charter caught a group of guys poaching his pots as well. From his description it looks to be the same VietCong cats in that video.
Good lesson and something I never thought about. My wifes boat had the 9.9 Evenrude 2s and I never thought about the moisture in the tank. I kept the tank in the shed so probably didn't have to worry about it but?? Something to think about. I only have a cou[ple gallons in the boats tank but it is outside. I think I will drain the tank this week if we aren't going to work on it pretty soon!
yeah i should have known better. all my garden and yard machinery sits with Stabil, but i didn't think my outboard would be so sensitive to it. i heard these older engines need the extra additives that ethanol based fuels don't have today. live and learn!
Stick with it. I just bought a 15' Bayrunner with a 15hp two-stroke Yamaha. Guess I'll be treating my fuel asap! 🤔😁🤣
mosdef👍🏼
They are deep right now. Kind of a bummer. Plus the poachers don’t help.
The poachers sure don’t help smh ugh. Hate them big time.
Don't you worry, I'll save you this weekend.
my hero😊 hope to see you out there, i might try again saturday🤞🏼
@@ishwithfish hit me up on 69
will do
Love your zodiac, looks sick! I’m hoping to get an inflatable in the near future as well! 🤙
thx benjie! i haven't seen the surf much cause i'm too busy getting towed in open water lmaoo. looking forward to you joining the club😁
@@ishwithfish lol, bro I’m gonna get into all sorts of shenanigans when I pull the trigger. Learned something new with your experience (tho to be fair everything I learn about this stuff right now is new). The engine maintenance is something that’s got me nervous, but I’m willing to make the commitment. Tight lines brotha! 🤙
👍🏽 we were out the same day and didn’t to well either
yeah slow start for everyone (expect for them poachers! booo)
With that balut boat, you can do circles around your yak friends! Next time you will catch more, Ish!
let me figure out the gas situation, then i'll run circles around them ... maybe i'll charge $$ to run them over for views too!
Right on! Lol!
Also keeping your fuel tank full of gas limits the amount of empty space in your tank where condensation can form. Lucky for you keeping a 5 gallon tank full is very low cost. Like another person said non ethanol fuel! You may want to check to see if Mercury makes a fuel additive that they recommend for their 2 strokes. Yamaha recommends 2 additives for their engines. Yamaha Ring Free is one and it is $$$ but It goes in every tank.
great tips, thx! im going to go with marine stabil and seafoam, and keep the tank at high capacity like you suggest.
@@ishwithfish
The only reason I suggested that you check to see what Mercury recommends is because of feedback from an outboard mechanic. He harps at anyone who uses that “red” fuel additive as according to him whenever he tears down a broken outboard that is “red” inside it is because of the use of that product. I do not know know what parts get coated in it but gets pretty agitated if you say you are using that additive. I have been using that “red” additive in my lawnmower gas can for over 20yrs without issue.
You might want to get Boat US through West Marine. It's like AAA on the water. They will even help if you have trailer problems.
yup $100 a year right? i think i'll sign up, thx.
So did it help weighing down the doors to the trap? I've seen other videos where this is done. The zip tied a similar lead weight. I think crabs would have a harder time to get in. Not sure though.
it totally does. if a crab is big enough to keep it's strong enough to climb in, crabs are pretty strong. if it's too weak to push open i don't want it!
Have u ever had issues with trailer a motor on the boat....as in transom coming unglued?
Great video👌
thx, fun curve to learn for sure
Nice video dude! Went out to Baker beach last weekend!
dope, hope you got some!
@@ishwithfish My pops pulled one keeper 7+ incher. I skunked that day. =/ lol
I think everyone should know a bit more about engines and how ethanol and water in the gas can affect carburetors and fuel tanks before they just get on the water.
very true. to my credit i put 30 hours on this motor with straight 87 with 0 problems until this day. maybe my ignorance to the added winter and marine variables caught up to me, live and learn.
No gopro footage from the pot?
the gopro died early🤦♂️ going with different batteries next time.
Get em before Adam and Taku get back
pretty sure i left them some👍🏼
at 10:34 why did you send the rock crab back down in the pot?
had a taste for dungeness and that's all i wanted. friend ended up taking the legal rocks home anyway :)
What trailer do you use? I have a Newport as well and I would like to buy a trailer, I’m just not sure which is best.
awesome! i waited and waited and finally picked up a used Shoreland'r PWC single jet ski trailer. it's absolutely perfect for a 10-12' zodiac. i added raised galvanized bunk board mounts and side posts, that's about it. very happy with the setup👍🏼
@@ishwithfish Thats what i was thinking about doing. My boat is the dana, so it fits in my truck well. But i hate carrying it everywhere with all my gear.
Aloha Ish (Ishmael?), How come your channels is called Ish with Fish, and not Fish with Ish? I enjoy your content, keep up the great work! Mahalo nui from Moku Manu, Hawai'i
thanks so much! named the channel Ish With Fish because it sounds weird, easier to remember. maybe i'm wrong but seems to be working lol. awesome, i have family upcountry Makawao Maui, visiting next month. i hope travel doesn't get canceled, looks like things are tightening up though. if you have any family and friends willing to show me how to fish the shore that area i'd be super grateful! i'd even leave the cameras home if they don't want their spots shown, all good. anyways mahalo for the comment, hanapa'a!
Hi what size is your inflatable?
You guys don't listen to him about the ledcor rope it is very expensive worthless and crap on your hands while pulling it use normal rope but they call line weights they hook onto your rope and a weighted down so it don't float up don't buy lead core rope it is way too expensive by a couple waits and by the other wrote then crabbing for 45 years Trust me Maybe he doesn't know about lead line weights I don't know but what a rookie thing to do is by ledcor rope for the price that it is not smart.... Unless your into wasting your money.... Don't forget aluminium does not rest either and it's a lot less weight Super and normally cheaper
great tips, thx!
Uggghh my plastic broke ass snare almost cost me big
i had you in mind when i mentioned it lol, luckily thor was in a decent mood that day.
I too always blame poachers whenever I pull up #bignothing.
it definitely makes the skunk smell better🦀
THAT SHIT MAKES ALOT OF NOISE AN DONT EVEN SMASH LOL
If you want the dungees caught pre-seasoned, buy a jar of bagoong, punch some holes on the cap, and in the pot it goes. I'm sure you'll catch just all the cool' crabs.
Listen to Ish and don't do a dick-move!
Have you experienced any poaching with your pots? Looks like I got my answer at 10:00.
yes unfortunately, its pretty prevalent this year. you can tell when your bait is picked over but trap is empty. boats will jump from buoy to buoy grabbing keepers until they limit and leave. sucks!
I love your vids man! You are so mellow and that's a great way to go I think. Getting poached.... they should be shot! I HATE poachers!!!! Bro, the new fuel is garbage, if you can find it, go no alcohol for sure, that will help that poor little carb on your boat motor. From what I have found, gas is good for about a month(alcohol fuel). Then it turns into parts cleaner...
yeah, running marine stabil now🤞🏼
SMH, your friend lets you pull his pots and you don't rebait them for him? Rude lol
you're right, bad form🤦♂️
