if you have iphone and do care about apple ecosystem then go for ipad, but if you're just media consumption or android user, then Tab S10 is Best choice out there
I would say, the benefit of having Android does not bring the S10 high enough to outweigh the superiority of the iPad even if you do have an Android. If you're a frequent tablet user in 2024, the best thing to do is get the iPad then for your next phone upgrade, get an iPhone.

This was tbh subtly biased towards Apple. Android's app support is genuinely better than iPadOS simply due to the fact that you can sideload any app you want, regardless of whether its on the store or not. And DeX is a far bigger deal than you gave it credit for.

I just got an M4 iPad Pro 1 TB 13” and the screen is a hair bigger but the aspect ration makes everything smaller than my old 2nd gen iPad Pro 13”. You get a bigger screen but everything you see is smaller. What a sucker I am. 😢 Battery doesn’t last long on the iPad or Apple Pencil. And I have the same problem on my new M4 $2000 iPad Pro that I had on my 2nd gen iPad Pro, that after watching multiple videos on Instagram, the vids. start to freeze up and I have to turn off iPad and restart to get them to play correctly. Only happens on Instagram.

The crop is killing it for me, it’s why I don’t buy iPads, but overall usage is way better on it, while the s10 ultra 16:10 makes odd sense in portrait, it’s super tall and odd feeling to hold upright

Easy solution, Android > IOS, freedom to do what you want, not locked into a restrictive ecosystem and most important thing is, it isn't Apple. Glad I made the switch from Ipad Pro to Ultra tablet.

Samsung users perceive snapdragon chipsets to be the Holy Grail and as such I don't think this product will sell as well as previous years, remember when Samsung changed exynos for snapdragon it didn't end well.
tbh i find the new mediatek dimensity chip to be a very interesting move for samsung to use on their tablets

I also have a Mac Studio setup, Windows laptops and MacBooks, tablets and phones that are Android and iOS. I use both ecosystems every day. Hope that helps add perspective. Thanks for another great comparison. This would be a tough call for me. I use my tablet primarily for content consumption, so the Tab 10 would get the nod because of its form factor, but I live in the Apple ecosystem, so the iPad would integrate seamlessly. Realistically though, both of these are overkill for my use case.
Time to upgrade to a real pc - mac is for children. Samsung integrates seamlessly with windows and other android devices (Superior to apple)

lately, Apple has been ticking me off. The latest debacle has to do with the inability to upgrade iPad OS to version 18 for the M4 versions.
OK, ordinarily not a big deal, but it points to a deeper problem at Apple - its quality control is going off the rails. Add to that, the fact that the M4 really doesn’t do much more than the M2 - or even the 2018 models, for that matter.
It’s becoming easy to see that Apple’s “tech has peaked”, and all Apple is offering from year to year is “more chrome”; and “longer, lower, wider” - like the marketing gimmicks of the US auto manufacturers during the ‘60s and ‘70s.
At this price point of the M4, the latest iPad is arguably a “flop.” And I’ve been a “fanboy” since the earliest release around 2011 or so.
Admittedly, the only thing Apple has to keep me is their ecosystem. But frankly and at this rate of less-than-stellar-performance, it’s not a matter of if - but when - I’ll make a “jailbreak” from Apple, and head over “…to the dark side.”

In my opinion, iPad OS may not be the best choice for everyone, and its price may not justify its features. OneUI offers a smoother and more versatile experience for a more reasonable cost.

I would add that the S10 (or iPad Pro if you pay for it) anti-reflective screen looks worse inside than without it (S9). Less contrast, worse colors, usual things coming from the (slightly) matte screen.
We have come really far with our technology. From Moses' tablet that can only display 5 sentences per tablet to the Galaxy Tab Ultras and iPad Pros doing split screens, pop-up views and connecting to external displays. What an evolution.

I have hopes for tab s10, their dex is incredible. but not enough to replace laptops. Maybe oneday we can have more arm apps run native on android.
Ipad on the other hand, have all capacity to run Macos app using similar chips, but Apple don't want to do that

No company would ever compete against themselves by making iPads have macOS; it is a really stupid business, as Apple is a small player in the laptop market, 8% share and losing Macbook users to an iPad may make that division unprofitable. Anyway, Apple has already confirmed that this will never happen.

Samsung played it safe with this one. Except for the anti-reflective coating (which is nice because the iPad was much better here in the past) there’s nothing remarkable. The chip is decent/good but nothing compared with the M4 of the iPad Pro. They should have gone with the one the new X chips.

Samsung needs to break the support barrier of professional video and image editing apps and others. For this, it must leave the smartphone CPUs and go to PC CPUs, such as the Snapdragon X elite, just as Apple uses the M4 CPUs on tablets. S10 ultra with Snapdragon X Elite X1E-84-100
But most people buy ipad 11inch, s10 ultra is just too big and heavy for a tablet and if you use as laptop window and mac far better

Seems like Samsung forced Mediatek to support video out and USB 3.1.
I've got video output support and USB3.0 on the 2 years old Lenovo Tab 11 Pro Gen 2 with Kompanio 1300T (it's a slighly modified Dimensity 1100)...8/256Go, 120Hz, Amoled for 500€.
There's Lenovo Tab Extrême with Dimensity 9000, one usb3.2 with video out and one usb2.0 with video in.
And there's Kompanio 1380 (for Chromebook) that supports a total of 3 screens.

no need to upgrade the only big changes are the stronger chip and the anti reflection coating everything else is the same and whats left out will come with the new UI updates.
Don't compare Dimensity with Exynos, Dimensity uses TSMC's process like 8 Gen 3...both are very close, on many aspect Dimensity is even better (multicore CPU perfs, AI, Ray-tracing...)
The ipad is like an american muscle car...lots of HP ... every year another extra 100 HP.... too bad it can drive curves due to the traction .... my point is , you can do more with the less powerfull s10

Personally, I can't give up Android, so I would take the Tab S10, but i do wish the software on the Galaxy was more polished, and a better chip could've been appreciated. Either way, i believe iPads and Galaxy Tabs are apples and oranges.
The S10, is a better deal and way better for watching most media. I own an M2 pro and an S7 Plus. I use my ipad for work and the samsung for play.

Both companies kinda suck for tablets. Ipads are still large iphones 14 years later, and samsung runs android which dont really support tablet apps in 2024. Apple products are still top tier (i still use my mbp 2013 daily and works fine for 11 year old laptop used as clam shell beacuse battery is dead) and my dad still uses his ipad air 2 2014 on the daily. For media and long lasting ipad is best, for seasonal highly customizable possibilities and productivity Samsung.
The samsung tablet has always been better then ipads. Everything people are complaining about on ipads like desktop mode has been solved with samsung. Even the spen is better and feels way smoother. I have a s7 tab and its better than the new ipad pros so

If you have the S9 ultra skip this gen’s version for another year to three years then you should upgrade. I’m heavy on tech so I truly get into the pros and cons etc etc miner to extreme differences so tbh just hold what you have.

Love the ultra form factor but had to go with iPad for the ecosystem sidecar as I often use my laptop and ipad as a second screen and Android and MacOs dont speak well together. So iPad for me.

1min in and there's already a lie (most likely just an unknown) the mediatek process is better for quad core processing, but it is nowhere near as "efficient" as the snapdragon gen3 Most tasks are handled on a single core. Games are handled using multi-core processing (depending on the developer). Snapdragon is better for battery life, but Mediatek is better for intensive tasks.

Maybe you just don't know how to use the s10... or any android for that matter, but you can have well over 3 apps open at the same time. I have the tab s9+ and I can have a myriad of apps open simultaneously on the screen, no crashes or slow down, though it is better if you use Dex to do this. All Samsung phones can do this too... you're not limited to 3 apps.

Just bought the Ipad M4 1 TB Cellular after selling my Galaxy Tab S9. No regrets
The galaxy tab s10 plus and s10 ultra have 7 years of updates and security. But they didn't have to downgrade the techs with that crap chip of Density 9300+. The snapdragon chips are more powerful. Plus, they worry about the wrong things. We need pro apps Samsung, like goodnotes, procreate, affinite, the full version of photoshop, etc. They also got rid of the s10 model. I have the galaxy tab s8 ultra that I bought on may 2023, it's my best purchase. I will trade it in with the galaxy tab s13 ultra or s14 ultra. By the time, I hope it will have the snapdragon X Elite 4 or 5 or a chip more powerful than snapdragon. The galaxy tab s10 ultra should have the snapdragon X Elite chip or snapdragon 8 gen 4. Why would people buy the new s10 models, so expensive, if they used a poor chip. If I buy a tab I want it to have a powerful chip that matches the price. Samsung failed this year!☹️

Yes. For movies, Samsung (if the tablet isn't too large for everywhere you'll use it like bed.)
For gaming, art, music creation, app library quality and size, work, documents, web browsing, ecosystem, performance, and longevity, iPad.
Samsung gets some small lifts if you own a Samsung phone and if you do not own a computer but do have an HDTV (DeX).
Apple gains some huge points if you have an iPhone and/or Mac due to its ecosystem having a "hive mind" of sharing everything you do between the devices, instantly accessible, copyable, sharable, etc.
Gaming just as well on an android tablet. Tab S9 user here

I was going to upgrade my old iPadPro to the S10 Ultra. But ZBrush just came out on iPadOS.
If art is a frequent use case on your tablet, a Samsung will never be an upgrade to an iPad for the foreseeable future (that is, between 1-10 years from now). I make no claims about the state of the market for tablets after 10+ years from now.

You must have watched the video in a reality distortion field. iPad was clearly better in about 8/10 areas. S10 is really outstanding as a mini portable TV, and beats the iPad in this one area. But that's about it.

Historically, iPads and MacBooks have longer support. Samsung is promising longer support to match or even exceed Apple, but selectively only for some models and so far hasn't actually demonstrated a follow-through on the promise (because that takes 7 years to find out.). Length of support is only one of three factors for support level. The two others are quality of support and frequency of support. Quality means: do they just tweak some security glitches or do they roll out totally new and innovative features years later? Frequency means, do they roll out updates months or even a year after they were available on new devices, or do old devices get the update simultaneously? In recent history Apple has clearly won in this area with S-tier vs C-tier follow-through. For the future, we can only speculate how much Samsung will up their game to match.

Almost certainly does have 240hz PWM because it's the same screen, and S8/S9 series used 120/240hz PWM, the worst being S9+ with 120hz. But it's the same for iPad Pro 13, 240hz PWM.

Remember if you use it at high brightness for longer periodes. Choose the ipad. Because even tho samsung might be cheaper you WILL experience a green tint and a very dim screen after 1 year. My tab s8 plus got a green tint after 1 year of use and have its brightness almost cut in half after 2 years of daily use
that's because Samsung use Pentile display with green color dominate the color space

9300+ is faster than 8 Gen 3 even. Of course it's faster than last year models Gen 2.
@kiisseli1337 I use my tabs9 for emulation. Mediatek doesn't play well with emulators sadly. Was hoping the tabs10+ would have the 8gen3.

Goodnotes for Android sucks. It's not like the iPad app because it's not an app it's a web app that is limited in features and buggy. Goodnotes wants android and windows users to pay for garbage while allowing iPad users to have an actual app with a feature rich experience.
