He could have done that without Sarnor. After all the Eurasian steps are very large fields that are mostly empty. In the middle ages Asia really was like this. Several quite large kingdoms separated by massive swats of empty land.

@@libenhagos9335 What do you mean? Civilization sprang up several times in different places. It indeed sprung up in the fertile crescent, but also in the river area between the Yantze and the yellow and on the Yucatan.

True, why go to a country that dislike you and see you as a foreigner when you can just invade the entirety of Essos and make it a great empire than the Valyrian Freehold.
I get why Dany wants to take Westeros back given it’s her birthright but Dany here had an opportunity to entirely wipe out the Slavery system and make a empire that can rival against the entirety of Westeros.
I mean she's on good terms with a lot of the red temples in the free cities i don't see why she needs to conquer them.
@@cars81434 GRRM does a great job of showing how brilliant and capable people get corrupted by their own ambitions and how important opposing viewpoints are when you need honest counsel.

I dont understand how thousands of un-armoured light Melee Cavalry can be so destructive 🤣 ( mongols weren't primarily Melee and were well armoured ). Jorah shows how easily they can be beat in season 1 or 2
I agree. 100,000 pike men should be more or less invincible against an unarmored no spear having horse charge

I agree with the genocide of the dothraki but the ironborn ain't that bad once you get to known them, like for example they conquered the riverlands once and created the greatest castle in westeros (at least it was the greatest before dragons appeared) if it wasn't for aegon and his dragons all of westeros except for the north and the vale would have been conquered by them given enough time

Wait? How did they ever manage to achieve any conquests worth noticing?
They wear practically no armour, and seem to almost exclusively use Curved Swords.
In our real world, Nomadic Hordes were feared in battle, because of their mounted archers, which the Dothraki dont seem to have.
How did they manage to not get slaughtered by enemies, who relied on long spears and projectile weapons?
They do have mounted archers, who use curved bows.
yeah he is correct, Dothraki use dragonbone bows and Bows similar to mongol recurve bows.
The Mongols were somewhat more flexible though and they did use navies. It wasn't really their forte but they still did it.
im not sure but i think in the books they wear hide or leather .........or some type of cloth armor on parts of there body so as to have some protection while not burning up in the desert sun

Great video as usual, I've always wondered how that huge waste came about. I mean I knew the dothraki came from the east and destroyed everything but that's about it. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the Sarnori realized the threat from the beginning and actually held them off and survived, how that would impact the entire world.

I watched a lot of these videos about a yearish ago and stopped because life got busy. However I was doing a quick stroll and saw Dothraki history, you caught my eye, and fantastic work! I remember why I subbed to begin with!
Now I have to go read the books again, you've inspired me.
Is the lore you covered in the books or did you have to find it elsewhere? I only remember about 60% of it. However that could be the fact that I've only read them once...
And this is probably WAY left field but have you considered that Halo mythos? It's something really special and deep that I feel many people discredit because it's not readily available or even known about.
Welcome back! Most of this info come from the World of Ice and Fire history book and the Lands of Ice and Fire geography book as well as the main novels. Unfortunately I am not very familiar with the Halo world.

I won't explain Halo but if you ever have down time it's extremely in-depth. Akin to Star Wars in an expansive way.
Each race has it's on distinct history, as do humans. It has it's politics, technology, multiple deep philosophical angles, 1000s of years of history and most importantly for me, major mysteries that I feel fall beneath the stigma of "shitty fps", so people ignore.
Hell I'd ignore it if I wasn't forced to play Halo 1 when I was a teenager, through lack of games.

Jogo's Nhai are the Mongol based people in my opinion, while the Dothraki give Turkic and Hun vibes.
The Kingdom of Sarnor I’d equivocate with the Khwaresmian Empire. It was one of the largest and wealthiest empires in the Middle East, but the mongols reduced it to ruin. Merv was one of the largest cities in the Islamic world before the mongols wiped it off the face of the planet.

Warhammer probably not, but Warcraft I actually started doing a long time ago, there are 2 playlists on my channel for them, but I stopped making them after a few vids because very few people watched them. They are still there though if you want to check them out. And as for Star Trek, nothing this month, but next month I will be starting Star Trek back up again, either with a vid about the Cardassians or the Ferengi. Personally I am dying to do a video about the Ferengi rules of acquisition.

The settled peoples need gunpowder and by extension guns to get rid of the problem of the Dothraki. In real history the steppe tribes were a constant source of trouble with their riding and archery skills and their raiding and slaving. That was, until guns gave the advantage to settled peoples.
The problem is that the Dothraki seem to be wiping out any civilization that might be capable of building guns.
Carl Bates the dothraki could be fucked up very easily by archers. they have no armor or shields, which makes them that vonorable to archers. I would simply get me some longbows and high walls and if they come shoot them to shit.
The Dothraki are unmatched archers, except for Summer Islanders who the Dothraki never fight. Combined with their riding ability including their ability to accurately shoot at full gallop and no one can beat therm. However, it's not well explained how they can take down fortifications like walls so effectively.

I'm not sure how to explain that away. Real steppe peoples wore armor, at least light armor to deflect glancing hits from arrows. There was something about using speed but I wouldn't be too confident in dodging arrows.

A little bit, they are a mix of various cultures, like the Huns, Mongols, Ancient Persians, and the Indigenous Tribes of North America.

Well it's in there, go the section titled the Grasslands and they go over a lot of this, not right away though you have to read the whole section because they don't get into the dothraki until after they explain the ancestral kingdoms of the grasslands.

In other words, shitier and more short sighted and backwards Hun and mongol expies, with more a focus on MANPOWER, than on horse archery, good planning and actually giving a shit about conquering and not just burning and looting.
Well it means they have far more of a legacy. The Mongols as powerful as they were really didn't have much of a cultural legacy at all. Most of the regions they conquered like China, India, Persia and Russia retained their culture and just assimilated the Mongols. After about a century of Mongol rule they all just kicked them out and picked up where they left off. The most they did was equalize the development of technology. Spreading advanced technology in more primitive regions and setting back development of more advanced regions.

The mongols seriously considered exterminating literally all of the farmers in eurasia just so they could have more grassland for their horses. They were basically the Nazis of the 12th century

While its true Nomads had a tendency of burning a razing, this was not unique to them, plenty of ethnic groups migrated and purged the people who lived there so they could settle. The Saxxons with the Britons, The Huns with the Goths, The Magyar to the Avars, The slavs to the illyrians, the franks to the Gaul, the Han with alot of china, the germans with the Baltic Prussians, the Germans to the Pomeranians, hell, The Turks to the Anatolian greeks, the arabs and most of we consider 'the Arabic world', even the Scottish to the Picts in some degree.

I think the Mongols are more the Jogos Nhai. The Dothraki are definitely Turkic/Scythian.

The directors forgot about the blood riders needing to avenge their khals bit... jon & the starks would have been slaughtered... the thousands of dothraki in essos would never stop invading westerous (along with the free people and the followers if the lord of light who basically saw Daenerys as their equivalent of jesus)... 90% of all character arcs and motivations was thrown out of the window ☠

Nope, Huns. The Mongols inspired the Jogos Nhai, across the Bone Mountains. The Jogos Nhai are far more advanced than the Dothraki, using advanced battle tactics, light armour and are almost exclusively archers and continually harrass the Golden Empire of Yi Ti (Song Chinese Empire)
