lmao i literally just played as a blackfyre and restoring the ghiscari empire because i tried overthrowing the targaryens and backing my sibling daemon blackfyre in his rebellion but ironically the blackfyre rebellion failed and daemon got executed, and now im gearing up for another blackfyre rebellion im just rebuilding my strength in ghiscar first, right now i got unsullied some mercenaries a huge fleet, my ghiscari legions(levies) and also a dragon so should be easy since i also got an alliance with some dothraki and with the arryns of the vale and the martells of dorne:) oh and i have war elephants
The empire of Ghis reminds me of Cartago, and the Valyrians to Rome. Both were great powers of ancient times, and even the legions of Ghis and the roads of Valyria (as seen in Volantis) make the similarities stronger.
It's definetly a mix of many cultures but I personally see ancient Persians, mixed with a little Greek because of their military formations, mixed with Carthaginians as the Vayria wars resemble the punic wars. But I definetly could see some ancient Egyptian and Islamic cultural influences as well. Like with their pyramids for example. :)
CivilizationEx Yes Persian, that is the most apt for the Ghis. Can't believe it slip my mind. True it's a blend of many, but the Persian is most similar.
Carthage primarily, with a little bit of Persian and Islamic influences. These wars clearly resemble the Punic Wars fought between Rome(Valyria) and Carthage(Ghis).
The Carthaginian Empire has many similarities with Ghis. Carthage was an ancient power, much older than Rome was to the north. Carthage had several colonies along the east side of the Iberian Peninsula, founding the cities of Saguntum and Carthago Nova along the Spanish coast. The Punic Wars, the series of conflicts between Carthage and Rome, is undeniably an influence for the Ghiscari wars. With the first war ending in a minor victory for the Romans (Valyrians), the second was very much the same as the first as a minor victory for the Romans. However at this point the Romans had the upper hand, Carthage would never regain its initial strength, and by the third Punic war (forth Ghiscari war), the Romans (Valyrians) won decisively, tearing down the city of Carthage (Ghis) and salting the lands. The city of Tunis (New Ghis), which still stands to this day as the capital of Tunisia, was built atop the rubble of the once prestigious city of the long lost Carthaginians. After years of occupation by the Romans and the Umayyad Caliphate, the culture of the Carthaginians was lost, with most now speaking Arabic (High Valyrian) and identifying as Berber Arabs.
so: Yi Ti: China and most of Asia Jugois nai: The Mongols Dothraki: the huns Westeros: Europe Ghiscarri Cartage/Egypte /India Valerya: Rome/ The Islamic Empire Sothoryous: Africa The Summer Isles : The Carribean/ Medeterainean isles
The Valeryians were closer to the Romans and Greeks think Roman Empire and Hellenistic Greek empire not so much the middle east, and Ghiscar was heavily inspired by the Persians and Cartage not really India
LagiNaLangAko23 you are right the nature is like middle east but culture not i think asshai by tge shadow is more like old perzia or mekka cuz is full of darkness and terror
so they had dark skin, yet they got scared away by people just a bit darker?! It's strange, because, even though it was much later, not even the blonde and blue eyed Lannisters have any fears concerning the Summer Islander in their court
That's a common occurence. Arabs are darker than most europeans, yet were very racist toward blacks. Europeans are darker than northern chinese, yet often fought Turks. Etc...
The Ghiscari wars is basically Carthage mixed with ancient Egypt fighting Rome. Except in this case it’s fantasy and one side has dragons and the other had an actual military instead on mercenaries
ghiscari empire must be very strong imagine aegon with only 3 dragon, he qonquered whole westeros, and ghiscari empire able to win some battle againts valyria which have sheet ton of dragon.
The Unsullied were heavily influenced by the Old Ghiscari Legions. Imagine an army of 200,000+ Super Unsullied soldiers. The Valyrians were just too strong with their dragons. It’s like ancient greeks/persians fighting against a Fighter Jet.
who makes up all these lores?... GRR?... just random fan made lores? like in which book are all these lands and wars mentioned? .... please clarify the sources
making legends they lose a few battles. One of them is in the second spice war against rhoynar ,Prince Garin of Chroyane defeated 100,000 men and kills two dragons. The Valyrian later respond with an overwhelming force of 300 dragons, they manage to catch the prince and burn the entire army of the rhoynish
In the beginning the Sarnori were divided, some allied with the Valyrians, and others fought against them. Later those that remained joined together but by then it was too late.
I'd love too, it's on of my fav series, but it would be a huge commitment so it may be awhile before I have time. I do hope to get to it one day though! :)
Alberto Chávez wheel of time is an epic fantasy by robert jordan. its about a man named rand al thor who is a reincarnated ancient wizard destined to battle and save the world from the dark one who is locked away in another dimension. but if any wizard uses magic he will eventually go insane.
I'm my opinion the Ghiscari, not the Valyrians, are more similar to the Roman's of the real world. Like the Roman's, they began as a single city-state and had enormous amounts of slaves. Their armies were literary called legions. The Valyrians are a fantasy empire with no real world analog.
I think Ghis is seen as the equivalent of Egypt because it is the most ancient large civilisation known (west of the bone mountains / not sure if Sarnor is older), and obviously the Pyramids and style / culture. Valyrians are seen as the romans because they destroyed ghis like the romans destroyed egypt, and became the new most powerful culture. And they greatly furthered technology like the romans. The valyrian roads are also obviously inspired by the roman roads.
This really throws Danaerys conquest of slavers Bay into a new light. They basically needed slavery as a way to survive after the total destruction of their land by her people. Then she comes in again and takes it over and to add insult she's doing it with an army that best represents the traditions of their ancient armies. No wonder they wanted her gone ahah.
What he says:"The Ghisscari war " what I hear "the First Punic war"
I don´t, because they are totally different.
G-Rex Saurus Wait, so Rome didn't conquer Carthage with the might of dragons?
Even if you remove dragons there is still quite the difference there.
they're simular in that you have a old established trading empire being crushed by a small, aspiring empire
Ghiskar- Kartagen
Valyria- Romе
Punic Wars. It's the Punic Wars.
I'm getting a Greek vs Persia vibe here. Definitely a mix with the Punic Wars as well.
Jack War like trojan war?
resa naura Well the Trojan war can be seen as more of a Greek vs. Greek ordeal.
Wrong bro! More like carthage vs rome
@@brooooooooooo5449 That's what the Punic wars were.
Qarth = Persia
Ghis = Carthage
You should do a video on the Century of Blood.
Excellent video as always :)
Definitely will at some point :)
CivilizationEx hey great vid as as always nice fact is that the tall men are the Indian equivalent of planetos
That moment when you decide "screw Westeros!" and restore old Ghis as Daenerys.
AlHoresmi Its always good to see another CK2 Game of Thrones player.

More like restore Valyria but in ghiscari but yes I definitely agree

Mu questiin were the legion of ghus were luke the roman legions or more like hoplites? In trems of arments and figthing style wise
hey Mr civilization ex. I love your vids, always short and different than other channels. I love to listen to 4-5 vids while falling asleep
OLD GHIS WILL RISE AGAIN!!!!!!
CadaverJunky would love to see that happen, but Daenerys is the heir of the cruel Valyrians
Resistance Commander The Ghiscari were also cruel tyrants.
Make Old Empire of This great again!
Well despite their use of slavery it seems the Valyrians where worse plus they had other economies.
@@silvertemplar8061 Valyria had slaved to, DON'T FORGET THAT
the way you describe ASOIAF is great i love it, keep up the good work CivilizationEx.
Ghiscari wars = Punic Wars?
Why punic war?
Ghis DELENDA EST
The only differences being that there were only 3 Punic Wars and the Romans didn't have dragons.
What real world civilizations would you say the Ghiscari Empire is influenced from? I'd say a blend of Ancient Egyptian and Islamic cultures.
Pretty much. Their warring with Valyria is similar to the long feud between the Persian empire and the Mediterranean states/Rome.

It would be great if you one day did an episode on the Northern Kingdoms from the Witcher universe. :)
Great video like always :D
So Valyria is GoT Rome and Ghis is GoT Carthage and Persia?
So they saw the token black people in all of game of thrones at the summer isles and ran away immediately assuming they're demons. 10/10 would bang

sskspartan They are Caucasian, but they just have more of a tanned skin...
The Ghiscari wars is basically Carthage mixed with ancient Egypt fighting Rome.
Except in this case it’s fantasy and one side has dragons and the other had an actual military instead on mercenaries
Great stuff! Did the wars happen relatively close to one another or were they more spread out? Can't find a time frame and you've peaked my interest.
I believe they were relatively close to one another, although I'm taking information from their historical inspiration; the Punic Wars.
ghiscari empire must be very strong imagine aegon with only 3 dragon, he qonquered whole westeros, and ghiscari empire able to win some battle againts valyria which have sheet ton of dragon.
I wonder if they had their own forgotten magic, like the Rhoynars.

They probably had ballistas and killed a few dragons.
I wonder what Ghis would have been like if it killed Valyria

Interesting that the slavers are like Egypt/ME coded and not Dutch coded considering chattel slavery was the most profitable. thats kind of a twist.
Valyria really looks a lot like the roman empire but also the islamic empire
No it doesn´t. How does it resemble a Caliphate in any sense?
