I'm sure glad everybody's okay and very lucky on the house or a cabin I should say looks like you need to get a bunch of people together and have a firewood party you got plenty of firewood, the place I live in California there are I think it's 8 Black Pines in front of the community if any one of them fell it would take out the houses across the street it's amazing how tall trees get you're such a shallow root system

Remember to pull and twist the rhubarb stalk, never cut it. If you cut it, it will never spread and get bigger but, will eventually die.

The soil in Alaska isn't particularly stable either, making conditions challenging. I'm sure they're relieved that the storm didn't cause total destruction. On the bright side, now there's an opportunity to build that wrap-around deck they've been wanting. Nature has already done the heavy lifting, and there's plenty of timber available for milling. Your mill will come in handy. 😉 Happy Mothers day.

It seems to me that right after a big storm is the best time to go beachcombing. I don't imagine you find many glass balls, used by older netters, these days. But you may find buoys and such wreaked from others moorings by the storm. I saw a couple well weathered boards while you were pushing everything back with the tractor. Your fruit trees are doing great.

    • @AnAlaskaHomestead

Them trees are no joke...Think i would do some major homestead tree clearing if i were living on your island....If anything just for piece of mind not to mention heading off any disasters...Think if they blew over that easily in 50mph winds its only a matter of time....Hopefully any major storms are over for a bit...Looking forward to seeing what comes next...ya'll enjoy visiting on mothers day, stay safe, be well....

did the wind come from a different way thats why they came down? cutting them up is a very tricky thing not for just anyone good way to get hurt can any of that on the beach be used for fire wood? great gardens, burpees has a squash that goes up not wouldnt take up as much space tell her

Is there a reason you dodnt put the washed up stuff on the landward side but put it on the seaward.
Just thinking if you have another high tide it will block the road again.
Maybe it is some local rule.
