Finally, One Room Done | Alaska Homestead Tiny House Build
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лип 2024
- This episode we start the finishing work. Paint, tongue and groove ceilings, light fixture, trim and door. Bedroom 1 - Done!
Keep in mind, as we let you know in last weeks video, we did lose a lot of footage so the cohesion is a bit off but we do get to the finished product at the end.
Bonus: See what happens when a siren goes by on the highway 🐾
Thanks for watching,
Craig & Chandra

Looking very nice. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Your bedroom turned out great. Nice job on the window trim miters. One thing: The wires in any junction box should have the sheath and filler paper removed to about 1/2" beyond the clamp. It will make it a lot easier to connect, and troubleshoot if necessary.. And a LOT easier to push in the switch or receptacle into the box
I’ll try that on the next room. Thanks for the tip!
Sweet! It looks like a cozy room and looks bigger somehow lol. I love it!
@@pandaloves17 I thought it looked bigger too. The light colors I guess.
Great job guys!! I love your room. I bet you sleep well knowing it’s comfortable and complete. ❤
@@AlaskaMyHeart it’s been sooo nice
Looks great😊 well done, one room at a time. Love it🤗
It turned out really nice great job
Thanks
Very nice guys!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Just beautiful guys! Can’t wait to see the decorations!
Thank you 😊
@@ouralaskahomestead most welcome 🙏
I LOVE the tongue & groove!!! I love the bedroom, but you do not want the head of your bed under the window. If a bear breaks in, you're finished. You want the head of your bed to be on an inside wall bc it will be warmer in winter.
Great comment! Wonder how high that window is from the ground on the outside cuz I was thinking the same thing!!!🐻!!! And doesn't look like enough room to turn bed around in either direction!😮
We don’t really have too many bears around this area. We put in closer to the window because the wood burner is directly on the other side of the interior wall and it got pretty toasty last winter.
It’s tight at 10’ x 10’ but we can turn the bed around if need be.
@ouralaskahomestead OH wow, yes I agree that doesn't leave a lot of room. Perhaps consider floating shelves beside your bed so you don't sacrifice floor space. I still love the room, it's gorgeous!!!
Very nice
Wow! The bedroom came out so nice! Great Job!
Thank you! 😊
Looks Good. !!! Love the colors
Thank you 💚
Looks great! Something you may want to consider and is easy to add at anytime is a vent above the door.
@@JayAndEleinne we’re actually thinking of getting three stained glass windows, one for each bedroom and the bathroom and rigging them up so they can be propped open to let more heat in in the winter. Plus it’d let more light in too. I’d like something with an Alaska or at least woodsy look but stained glass is pricey! I might have to take lessons and make my own.
@@ouralaskahomestead sounds like a fun project. Then you can sell them also.
Looks good
Y’all excellent job it looks beautiful Tiny ( Len Price ) Houston MS
Great job! We had a door to the basement that had 2 knots right in the middle about 8 inches apart. It looked like a devil and gave our kids the hebbie jebbie's. LMAO
We wish we didn't sell that log home 20 years ago. I would've got 4x more for it now. But at least it paid for our next one on the river with no mortgage. 😊
That is awesome!
Completing one room in your Alaska homestead tiny house build is a testament to your dedication and craftsmanship. Your attention to detail and perseverance are truly commendable, turning a dream into reality step by step. Wishing you continued success in your homestead journey. And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
Wow, thank you! 😊
Such a good feeling to have a ‘finished” room! Looks great!
Yes it does!
Well Done - a first achievement, now for the next.
The colour of the accent wall and the wood stain are beautiful together. Good job! Lol my German Shep " talks" to sirens like that as well.
Love the look of the ceiling. Your making a lot of progress. ✌️🇺🇸
I love the tongue and groove I used it before great job and video
Thanks! 😃
It looks great, but I think I would’ve put a ceiling fan in. We have one in our bedroom and it works out great take care.
We’ll be putting one in the living room. We’d thought about the bedroom but I can’t imagine we’d ever use it. It just doesn’t get warm enough, even in summer, to run a fan.
Dude looks awesome great job
Thanks!
Looking amazing well done 🇦🇺
Thank you! 😊
Looks great!
Good job!😊
Looks great, well done
Thank you very much!
Beautiful ,Mama is so proud of you, both. Love and miss you guys ❤
He's doing great work staining those boards. I'm almost certain I'd forget that bucket of stain was on the ground & would accidently knock it over, lol. It's amazing that he can be so focused yet completely aware of his surroundings. It may be cheaper to buy the tool and make your own tongue & groove boards. It's terrible that you are price gouged just bc things aren't readily available. I love following your channel & and I can't wait to see your cabin finished!
Your making great progress! Congratulations! My kids sing to me also! I love each ones voice!
Looks amazing! Love the videos ❤
Thank you ☺️
Good choice the tongue and grove ceiling and trim is not only rustic but very permanent, every day is more progress. There will come a time when you are finished and you wont know what to do with yourselves.
Hopefully that day comes sooner then later 😉
There will always be something to do
looks good i like the celling nice job
Thanks!
Serious skills to cut the corner painting while holding the camera!
Yes, Craigs painted everything from sheds to multi-million dollar mansions. That was his trade for quite a few years.
I’m lucky, I get to pick the color and come home to it all done!
Wow, good job, the bedroom looks so nice. Love the ceiling and the contrasting colors on the walls. You are doing great work with the cabin and property in a short time. What's next, inside or outside?
@@mariezafonte6473 inside. Still planning to get siding on the outside before winter but I’m ready for it to feel like a home inside.
Looking good😊
Thank you 😊
The bedroom looks wonderful! Nice job. An awesome peaceful retreat. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much! 😊
You are getting there, you all have come a long way in your cabin... Looking outstanding!!
Thanks so much!
That room looks great! ❤
BEAUTIFUL JOB LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. THE BEAR EATING FISH WAS AMAZING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
It was neat seeing them in person so close in the wild. Thanks for watching 😊
One room at a time , now doesn't this room look epic ..Well-done folks!, I love the tongue & groove ceiling makes the room look so cozy. as does your trim. lol faces one can see in the wood so cool looked like an alien . The accent color on the wall goes so well with the wood . You folks have come a long way on your off grid homestead be proud of your accomplishments very impressive .
Thank you so much 😊 I am really happy with how it turned out. Makes me excited to move onto the next room.
oh I bet and yes it is so cozy i love it.
The ceiling looks awesome. Great job guys.
Thanks so much!
Love the bedroom ,looks so nice. Good job folks.😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow, that looks fantastic, thanks for the video, can’t wait to get up there and work on my place. They are still working on my closing stuff, the property should be all staked by the 9th of July, and the realtor said she would put up some no trespassing signs to keep people from scavenging windows, doors and such. See you guys soon!
Exciting!!!
Welcome to the Tribe!👍 I want to start framing up on my place next summer.😎

Thank you! You too!
Your bedroom looks amazing! Love the wall color.
@@chezj4 it’s starting to feel like a home instead of just a wooden box
Great work. It would be nice if you put another metal image on the wall.
Good idea! I’ve got a bear one I could use.
It looks GREAT! I'm so excited for you.
Thank you!!
Beautiful room, you both worked so hard for that and it turned out great! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
What a wonderful couple taking on this build and sharing it with us. It is so nice and quiet inside your home and I think I have that same shade of paint in my bedroom. Lol.
Thank you so much! 💚
Very nice work love the color of the accent wall🇬🇧😊
What a lovely serene bedroom …great team work . ❤️
Nice
Thanks
New Jeep ?! 😊❤ Good job, ceiling turned out great 👍 👏👏👏
Old one. We’d given it to our son before moving up here but he’s now moved to the lower 48 so we ended up getting it back.
Looks great and must be a nice feeling.
It is!
Looks great... keep plugging away 😊❤
Hello I am from Ontario Canada and wood products are so more expensive than where you are in Alaska I have many UA-camr friends in Alaska and I am thinking about buying some property there for six months at a time I will watch some of videos first then I will subscribe
Hi there great job have thought about a saw mill save lots of tree's????
We don’t really have very many trees, or lot is only three acres so we’d have to buy logs on top of the sawmill. For the small amount of lumber that it will take to build a garage/shop I think we’ll come out ahead just purchasing what we need.
❤
Nice job….you should put a paddle fan in there.
Thanks for sharing
Everything is coming together ❤️ 😊
I see a new red suv….did you get rid of your Gladiator? I drool every time I see a red one!!
No. It was off to the side hooked to the utility trailer. Our son moved to the lower 48 so now we’ve got his car back. You in the market for a Gladiator? Take this one for payoff 😆
Room looks Great
Continue making progress. How is the wood shed looking?
@@chuckhorner3758 shamefully empty. It’ll be full before winter though.
Looking great day to day
Love it! ❤️🎉
Turned out great!!!

@@mikemckinley1031 we are. It’s only about 400’ away.
@@ouralaskahomestead did you get my message on the grizzly 660
@@mikemckinley1031 yes, I replied, we ordered a new air filter, boot and fuel line. They’ll be here Thursday and I’ll see if those help. Thanks for the info!
@@ouralaskahomestead Did you check the spark plug? Maybe the pug as dirty as well?
@@ouralaskahomestead I had my own landscaping company I worked on all my equipment
If you have the trees, why not buy a mill and cut your own wood either for yourself or others?
We only have three acres so not many, certainly not enough to mill.
How did the yard sale go?
Great!
This video is very hazy
I couldn’t tell on the tablet. I’ll try watching it on another device. Thanks for letting me know.
CRACK ON!!
Looks great! The ceiling really gives the room some depth….. Chandra’s new upgrade looks nice too.👌😎 🛞
