its less the quality of the voice actors and more the quality of the voice director. some of those directors cannot direct for shit. the voice actors have to submit to the direction the voice directors give them

I've been seeing more anime lately that straight up just dont care about matching lip flaps (as they should, literally who cares), and it really just doesn't matter in terms of immersion-break. the expression in the moment and vocal performance are what matters, and i feel like studios have been catching onto this slowly over time.
This is the only anime where I switched back and forth and neither sounded off to me. Usually whichever I hear 1st or most often sounds right while the other sounds wrong.
Watch solo levelling dub the VA for jinwoo went ABSOLUTELY CRAZY even puked blood but it goes hard and Denji in Chainsaw man goes insaine too and the VA for Goku DOES NOT MISS
Naruto’s Pain and Madara Voice actors are absolutely flawless. I think the best dub moment of Actual NARUTO speaking is during the pain confrontation, which I don’t think you’ve reacted to yet, but it’s absolutely amazing. He doesn’t even sound like Naruto in the moment, just a downtrodden kid

Honestly thinking about it right now. Sukuna's JP voice fits him more in his possessed forms, but the deep english voice I feel would really fit his true form.

I usually watch all anime in dub first (if it’s available) and then watch the sub. My neurodivergent brain needs both English and subtitles to understand what’s going on first plus I can watch the action easier. Then I can watch the sub and be able to understand what’s going on as it’s happening instead of like a minute later

Dub Sukuna's voice was a lot more sassy in Season 1. Still a great performance in Season 2 but I do genuinely feel like it got a bit worse between seasons.
I typically watch shows dubbed. At least the first time through. I like being able to focus on the artwork of the show so dubs help me with that. But there are a few shows that the dubs are done incredibly well and JJK is one of them. The one exception in the show is Nanami’s dub for when he’s fighting Shigemo. It didn’t translate well.

Gojo's dub has a good tone of crazy and weird, and the sub has an amazing cocky tone. But in my opinion, the dub and sub are equally as good.

I challenge you to watch a show you’ve never watched but you have to watch it dubbed from the beginning it will honestly change your mind. Then watch it subbed after a few episodes and it will feel weird
6:14 dude you have to see the Chainsaw Man dub. At least certain scenes. Keep in mind for the Crunchy Roll Awards Denji’s VA won the dub award for like 6 different languages, including English. Plus some memeable scenes in Spanish, or just Himeno in English 😂
Dubs and subs have been on par for over a decade now. The quality of both is essentially the same 95% of the time. You can even have some where the dub is better than the sub too, like with DBZ and Super. This isn't a new occurance either. We've had good dubs going way back, it was just harder to find them prior to around 2010. You can go back to pre 2010 too, and find Cowboy Bebop for example, or FMA Brotherhood and they've held up amazingly. There are long running characters who've gotten way better in dub too, like, I cannot stand early Luffy in OnePiece, but nowadays the va has settled in and it's much less irritating. Naruto I'm completely fine with once he reaches The end of Naruto going into Shippuden. What you watch for anime, seriously does just come down to personal preference nowadays. Scripts are usually as close to a 1:1 as you can get(if the localizers dont go overboard, which happens sometimes, like with Dragonmaid). I tend to watch sub and dub when I can. I prefer dub, since it allows multitasking, and I don't have to stare at the screen the whole time not to miss anything. I've watched all of JoJo's in sub(Mainly because nothing touches the wacky Engrish and DIO in sub) but, I went through again and watched it all in English too, and the whole cast does a great job. I did the same with Chainsaw Man too, and that was fantastic in both languages as well. I'm currently watching back through the JJK dub now, and enjoying every minute of it. There's some quirks, and also voices I prefer more in Sub, but nothing is bad. The worst it gets is them essentially changing the way Geto's name is pronounced, but you get over it after a bit. It was to avoid it sounding too much like ghetto, which I feel was a pointless change, but whatever! Sub and dub are both amazing, and it's best to appreciate both when possible.
Personally, if I was me I would hire Madaras voice actor but just tell him to deliberate hardcore serious And think he is a villain (English VA) am I wrong

Lots of ppl love it, it just sounds grating to me, you can bring all the acting chops u want but if the voice doesn't sound good in the ear (regardless of the emotional intonation being inferred by the actor) it just kills the whole thing.

But there are a few shows that the dubs are done incredibly well and JJK is one of them. The one exception in the show is Nanami’s dub for when he’s fighting Shigemo. It didn’t translate well.
I think Gojo's and Sukuna's voices in the dub are my favorite. They embody the character almost as well as the sub does.
Gojo is better in dub and Sukuna is better in sub imo. All are incredible though
@@astreusastresus198 Sukuna gives "evilishly royal" in the dub and "royally evil" in the sub if you get what I mean. Both are really good depending on what you're into.
Gojo's dub has a good tone of crazy and weird, and the sub has an amazing cocky tone. But in my opinion, the dub and sub are equally as good.
The English version is also great!
I love both the sub and dub🗿🔥, the dub voice actor did a great job💯✨, but if you ask if to choose any one out of that, i would say junichi suwabe✨ 🗿🔥he is born to voice sukuna 🤩

Dub sukuna is so good and I think a lot of other characters have good dub voices I can’t wait for you to watch stuff dub because it isn’t bad. I’m mainly a dub watcher. I challenge you to watch a show you’ve never watched but you have to watch it dubbed from the beginning it will honestly change your mind. Then watch it subbed after a few episodes and it will feel weird
6:14 dude you have to see the Chainsaw Man dub. At least certain scenes. Keep in mind for the Crunchy Roll Awards Denji’s VA won the dub award for like 6 different languages, including English. Plus some memeable scenes in Spanish, or just Himeno in English 😂
You should watch the German version as well. Tommy Morgenstern did an excellent job with Sukuna Dub

Dubs and subs have been on par for over a decade now. The quality of both is essentially the same 95% of the time. You can even have some where the dub is better than the sub too, like with DBZ and Super. This isn't a new occurance either. We've had good dubs going way back, it was just harder to find them prior to around 2010. You can go back to pre 2010 too, and find Cowboy Bebop for example, or FMA Brotherhood and they've held up amazingly.
There are long running characters who've gotten way better in dub too, like, I cannot stand early Luffy in OnePiece, but nowadays the va has settled in and it's much less irritating. Naruto I'm completely fine with once he reaches The end of Naruto going into Shippuden.
What you watch for anime, seriously does just come down to personal preference nowadays. Scripts are usually as close to a 1:1 as you can get(if the localizers dont go overboard, which happens sometimes, like with Dragonmaid).
I tend to watch sub and dub when I can. I prefer dub, since it allows multitasking, and I don't have to stare at the screen the whole time not to miss anything. I've watched all of JoJo's in sub(Mainly because nothing touches the wacky Engrish and DIO in sub) but, I went through again and watched it all in English too, and the whole cast does a great job. I did the same with Chainsaw Man too, and that was fantastic in both languages as well. I'm currently watching back through the JJK dub now, and enjoying every minute of it. There's some quirks, and also voices I prefer more in Sub, but nothing is bad. The worst it gets is them essentially changing the way Geto's name is pronounced, but you get over it after a bit. It was to avoid it sounding too much like ghetto, which I feel was a pointless change, but whatever! Sub and dub are both amazing, and it's best to appreciate both when possible.

tbh I think I like the dub more in terms of that I can get a better grasp on his emotions with it
gaara speech b4 the war is really good in dub, pain and madara voices are good throughout the dub, i will agree with you on hating naruto's dub voice... Lots of ppl love it, it just sounds grating to me, you can bring all the acting chops u want but if the voice doesn't sound good in the ear (regardless of the emotional intonation being inferred by the actor) it just kills the whole thing.

So, In Japanese, the way Sukuna talks would be equivalent to Shakespearian speak, like he is actually of that era. I'm kind of sad we don't get ye olden English in a menacing tone for the dub.
JP he sounds more nonchalant and playful which fits an entity like Sukuna, while EN just sounds edgy in one straight line.
