    Morning Andy! For me, that is the best looking, most fun replica that I've seen you review, certainly the most accurate. I'm saving for a pcp rifle upgrade and steadfastly trying not to be tempted by your reviews, you do not make it easy 😀

    I have 3 of these and they are by far my favourite pistols. I got one when they first came out and picked up the other two since then. However my biggest frustration is that despite what the ASG website says, it is impossible to get spare parts… namely parts (1-11) and (1-23) which are definitely the guns weak points. After a few thousand shots the ejector snapping down causes one of two things, either the female side will split and will no longer bite the threads or the threads will strip off the male side. It’s two very simple parts however replacements just do not exist. I still have not found a reliable way of fixing them together.

      It is appalling when a serviceable item fails through lack of support. Totally unforgiveable in the modern trading situation. It reflects a shoddy "take the money and run" attitude. I did consider a purchase until I read this.

    Andy I’ve been looking at your review again as something was niggling me. It’s the barrel. Would you kindly look into yours and confirm that it is indeed rifled. As far as I was aware they are 6” smooth barrels and it is the shells that determine the difference between pellet and bb versions. If you look into a pellet shell you should see a simple rifling which is supposed to spin the pellet before entering the smooth bore barrel.

    Hi Andy, I've got a Schofield. I normally shoot only ·22 but as you said, these are really good fun for plinking and a little target work too. They're simple to load, just like the Webley MkIV (I've got the ·22 version of that too), just not as powerful.
    My favourite target gun is still my beloved Crosman 2240 though. I'm on my 2nd one now, the first being 30 years old and a bit tired.
    I'd love there to be a ·22 Schofield one day....

    I brought one of these secondhand. Seller said it was in excellent condition but failed to mention the *massive scratch down one side,* presumably from (wo?)man handling it from a holster. But even so I liked it so much I brought another solely for display.
    There is another made by a Canadian company; if they ever sell here I'll probably buy one of theirs too.

    I looked at these some time back.. I went through every one in the shop that the box said "rifled", but none of the barrels were rifled. May I ask how good the hinge pivot is? I have two Webley's and both have far too.much play in the hinge pivot, even when the action is closed. If rifled and the hinge is good I can see, finally, one of these being added to the pile.

    How about a video of Umarex Colt SA, Barra Schofield and Crosman Remington 1875 comparison.

  • @BoggWeasel
    @BoggWeasel 2 місяці тому +2

    Extremely stripped down history. Cavalry wanted the Schofield because it was easier to reload when sitting on a horse. The reasons for not adopting it for the army as a whole came down to ammunition logistics. Schofield ammo could be used in the SAA but not vice versa. SAA used "long Colt", Schofield rounds are shorter so the long Colt didn't fit the chambers. This meant supplying two different sized rounds for the pistols, a more complex and involved situation than the army wanted to deal with. (There were other reasons too, but this was the largest issue). I have a Barra Schofield, originally a .177 smoothbore but now it's .22 with a rifled barrel thanks to a kit that's sold here in the USA that allows you to make an easy to do upgrade. More accurate than the smoothbore and with a bit more thump, Is this an option available in the UK?
