As a person brand new to air guns, This was a Fantastic video and sure explained a lot. Thank You for your time and for sharing this information, It's pretty insane how many choices and things to take into consideration before purchasing... I am 52 yrs young and cannot wait to purchase my first one! I am still researching, although I am leaning towards the Sig Sauer SP2022 C02 Airsoft 394 FPS... Anyone have one of these? Do you think it's a good starter? Feel free to leave any good recommendations... Thanks ~

In Idaho USA we shoot our Pellet Pistols with over 25 FPE and 600 FPS without the evil LAW DOGS on our backs. But now since the Computers and China Elected Beijing Biden, that may come to a end.

This was an incredibly informative video. I've recently gotten into CO² pistols because ammo price has gone through the roof in the US, especially in my home state of Illinois (no, I DON'T live in Chicago, almost 6 hours south thank God). I purchased a Glock replica shooting 4.5mm/.177 BBs. The company I bought it from sent me a catalog. i had NO IDEA what the hell some of the terminology was. I'm extremely experienced in firearms (6 years in US Marine Corps infantry-combat in Somalia & Iraq) but air pistols are a completely different animal. I paused your video about ⅕ into to subscribe & follow on Facebook. Again, thank you for the info & I'll be watching more videos.

    Dear Andy:
First, I would like to thank you for all your videos, especially for the one for the “CO2 pistols for beginners”, the air pistol blow back was the definer for me, to buy. It was so clear and instructive that I make my mind as soon it was finish.
I am a range shooter, I started shooting in 1976 with a 38Spl, I also own the 1911 in 45 ACP, but the cost of the ammo was high, so I both a 1911 in 22LR, even do the price differed was lower, the 22Lr matches the size and almost the weight in the 45, I reload ammo for the 45 and other handgun calibers that I own.
The similarities in the weight and size of the Colt Commander Blow Back system in the Umarex CO2 BB is remarkable. To be honest with you, I never thought in an air gun because, in my mind I always thought it was like a toy.
Time changes and minds changes. Thanks to you know I have the respect to the air shooter.
Because of the Covid 19 the range is closed, you make it possible for me to practice in my house because I have the same filling of the 22 and the 45.
    Thanks Again
    Danny

I am a pistol shooter, primarily for target shooting and have been for some years. But recent events in America have made gun and ammo sales soar through the roof. Thus ammo availability is critically short and I have to husband my supply meaning I don't get to the range as often as I like. I was contemplating air pistols as an adjunct to my traditional shooting. This first basic video was excellent. It was concise, articulate and sans macho language and posturing. I would welcome more along the basics for air pistols, especially CO2 types. Which models are good, better, best, where to buy, how to buy, what to look for and in-home and outdoor targets. Also maintenance and safety are prime as well.
Well done Andy keep them coming for your American audience as well!

A truly one great informative video for beginners. :)
Thank you very much for yet another entertaining video!
Those 2x 8 round rotary flipstickmagazine airpistols are usually great. Always worked well. Love my CZ P-09. A bit contradictive thing with those is; that even that the rotary tip might be magnetic (for use of BBs) - the magnet only works for those hard steel BBs, but not with the softer lead BBs. And who would want to compromise their rifled barrel with BBs? :)
The Umarex Desert Eagle is a good example of how power and blowback can lower your shotcount. My UX Deagle only shoots for about 7 good magazines - and then comes a fast drop to the point of the CO2 cartridge being empty. But all of the positive sides of that pistol makes you not to care at all of that *low shotcount (*compared to many other co2 pistols that is - 7 mags of 8 shots is a decent count in my books).

Fascinating how things have progressed since I migrated to Australia where air guns are classed as firearms and you need a firearms licence to own any sort of air gun and even if the guns shown here were deactivated (i.e. made inoperable) they would still be illegal to own so be very grateful for your liberties.

Hey there mate, I believe I have commented before but I’m not sure, I have to say first of all thanks for giving up your time to inform folks like me about air guns. My knowledge has increased so much since buying a second hand crosman T4 around 4 months ago, prior to that my experience was a Diana SP50 that I had when I was 15 years old, 39 years ago, wow time flies. I now fancy an Airmaks Caiman, I would love to have your opinion, but I don’t expect a reply, you may not even read comments ? I now believe that home/self defence could become very important due to the fact that life is gonna be hard in 2022-23, crime will be on the increase & a gun & crossbow are on my shopping list. Anyway, thanks again for the videos, they are brilliant, regards Peter

Still relevant and teaching rookies in 2021! Most of this was information I had already learned just by owning/shooting the few pistols I have and the things I have osmosed from watching my husband shoot his rifles. That said, I still thoroughly enjoyed this video, did learn a handful of great things (thank you for the ballistics visuals - so helpful!), and if it were still a question of whether or not we want more of this type of video, the answer is a resounding "yes." Looking to get into air guns, but as someone who’s been around (real) guns, at 16:01 my heart rattled as you wave that gun pointing it at your head. 😳 I know you’ve checked it’s not loaded and the safety is on, but as this is aimed (no pun intended) at newbie’s, I just thought it important maybe to go through gun safety.
1: Always treat a gun as if its loaded.
2: Never point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot.
3: Be sure of your target and what’s behind it.
4: keep your finger OFF the trigger until you’ve made the decision to shoot.
Great informative video about the guns though. Have subscribed and looking forward to more of your content.

I had an incident with putting a scope on a CO2 pistol I had. It was just a basic rifle scope and I just wanted to see if I could shoot any better with it as long as it fit the rail, which it did. So I mount the scope.
I get it all set up and load the BB, take aim, and about the time I start that long pull on the trigger, I realize that my left hand isn't under the barrel as I anticipated. It was under the scope, with my left index finger directly in front of the barrel at *point* *blank* *range.*
By the time I was able to process that thought, the trigger had gone through 90% of it length of pull and there was no stopping what was about to happen. It goes off and straight into my finger, where it resides today.
It bled like a stuck pig for a just a few seconds until I wrapped it up and put pressure on it long enough. It was dripping so much it was just about a steady stream. So I grab my finger and squeeze until my buddy brought me a paper towel. Wrapped it up until it stopped, then I put a band-aid on it and we kept shooting...without the stupid scope 🤣
My buddy kept trying to convince me to numb it up with a piece of ice and he'd cut a little slit in my finger above the BB and pop it out like a pimple 🤣🤣🤣 Hahano. Lmfao.

One thing I can tell you about air guns, Never ever blind fire them, Always assume there is a pellet or bb loaded even if there isn't because if any dirt or debris is in the barrel and you fire it unloaded that dirt is coming out at some velocity.

Great review. I’m interested because I can’t afford bullets anymore. And I have two relatives that are scared of guns. So, maybe this would be something we could all do. THanks!

Just came across your channel. This CO2 episode is great, thank you for making it! If I may ask, could you do one on the Byrna CO2 pistol? Specifically on it’s mechanics as you have done here. A lot of Byrna users appear to have the incorrect information on the hammer tension screw of the Byrna CO2 pistol. I think I lot of users would appreciate putting that question to bed. Thank you for your time and energy you put into this video!
