Kelly should take him on tour
This has to be one of the best kept secrets in all of entertainment. Jeff Daniels is amazing!
Holy shit. Jeff Daniels needs to produce a Country Music Album....
What happened to "save me" , I watched that vid every day.
Yeah, but I think he practiced. 😊
Jeff Daniels isn't even known for music, yet that was one of the most heartfelt, poetic and well structured songs I've ever heard. Not to mention, some pretty good guitar playing. That folks, is talent!
Hell yeah!
That was exactly what I was thinking. Talented dude
🥰 Mr. Daniels made me sappy about my 3 girlfriends (guitars)..his words waxed poetic because GOD putting a guitar in my hands at 56yo broke my alcohol addiction!! Thank you my musical brother!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 3:39
He’s actually done small tours before. Not his first foray into performing live. What an incredible song.
Same with Steve Martin. Amazing banjo player. Creative people are built different
"You turn my never evers into maybe I just might"
That's a great line right there.
Delivered dso well too, this song is excellent
100%. That one stuck out to me too :)
Yes, that one hits hard. Got me a little misty eyed. I can definitely relate.
I just realized he didnt do the whole song. There's a 2nd verse where he says "When I'm down you come around my corner on two wheels." That one gets me
@@vince.capuano where did you hear the full song, is it on UA-cam?
"I ain't holding you, my friend. It's you who's holding me"...brilliant songwriting and a beautiful song.
The best line. Love it
After 45 years+ of playing, that line definitely resonates...beautiful song 🎵
Ditto. How awesome.
That part got me. ❤
I am so moved by this song - a song about how music _COMPLETES_ us 💗
There is something so powerful about an old man with an acoustic guitar
experience....
you are old

spot on! voila
❤
"You turn my never-evers into maybe-I-just-might" is poetry that sliced me right down the middle.
Yip, that's the line that made my ears prick up. 👌👏
@@thebesttheworst2277 My prick pricked up as well.
Yes
He has an incredible gift for words. And the duality of meanings here... the way it could be about a person, or maybe the inanimate object has been with him so long that it has a personality to him. We all have that thing we talk to when we're alone. We ask it the rhetorical questions we don't ask to anyone else. And it sounds like he sat down and wrote a song to thank his friend who has always been there. And honestly, I think his somewhat gruff voice, imperfect, makes it so much better and real.
Man Kelly's reaction to that line is gold. Such a powerful and beautiful lyric.
This was so good I had to crown Jeff Daniels as the best guitar playing celebrity in the world. The man simply ROCKS.
I had to come check it out after your video, Tyler. Im a little bit touched by this performance, wasnt expecting it.
You, Sir, are absolutely correct. And you are the awesome guru, so.... 😅😊
I watched your video earlier in my lunch break. Great breakdown but I'm surprised you weren't more touched by the lyrics. You even giggled about Kelly tearing up. I don't even play guitar, and I teared up lol
I just saw your video and checked it out. I've watched it almost 10 times now. I am sure Conan will understand.
After THIS why would you expect anything less? ua-cam.com/video/RyzDRc34l2g/v-deo.html
The guy waited this long in his career to unleash this talent. Brilliant.
I'm literally shocked. Wonder why he waited so long? Maybe he was self conscious.
This song is 13 years old at least
Jeff's been playing guitar for over 35 years and has wrote countless songs and this original song he wrote is very old
@@crogger321he’s been playing for years, he lives in my small town in Michigan and I just listened to him play last night. First time I heard him play was at least a decade ago.
“You had amazing guitar and singer songwriter talent this entire time???” “Yeah, it’s the Rockies?”
The funny part is that this song was released in 2010. I found it in 2016. I am SO thrilled that so many more people are finding it in 2024. Just so perfect.
i found it in 2024!
well what's the name

Today
I'm 70 years old. Been through some major hardships and trauma in my life (probably still more to come) I started playing guitar when I was around 10. In a way, it's been my life-line. Helping me get through much darkness. This put a lump in my throat.. Thanks Jeff
I know exactly what you mean. In my darkest hours - I always grab my guitar - it heals the soul. In my happiest moments - I grab her also. It has been the closest of friends in good times and bad. What a beautiful tribute - authentic and so soulful.
@davidcook1057 yeah it truly does and when my dad passed in April of 2022 I wrote a song for him but I still add or improve on it. And now I’m going to make one for my great uncle who we in my culture considered him as grandpa passed in February.
I’m half your age and have been through hardships as well. Guitar, and music in general, has saved my soul. Keep playing, brother!
100% same
@@planet_aldrain224 It is a beautiful gift that lasts Forever - to write a song for your dad. My dad taught me to play when I was 10-11. I never stopped. I also played a song for him at his Funeral. The hardest thing I ever had to do. It broke me up, but he was my biggest fan. I play for him, everyday. I know he hears me, as I am sure your dad hears you.
Jeff Daniels just wrote the best country song in the last 25 years. Holy shit
Seriously! I was blown away!
Mm, Jason Isbell entered the chat. Sturgill Simpson says hang on a minute. I’ll admit this was a damn good song but you’ve way overblown your claim.

I've lost count how many times I've watched this. It's just a catchy uplifting tune. Old school.
@@aaqilian5.085who cares. No one needs you to come here and shit on someone else's feelings or views on something. Or take the attention off of it. Maybe to them it was.
Blows away all of the "country" songs in the last decade. Well done, sir!
Ummm no definitely not all of them lol.... Try some billy strings, Colter Wall, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton etc.... plus this song is at least 13 years old by now. Tis a great tune though
The kind we need in the last decade ban going forward. It's the labels that are holding this back. They know bits out here all that is needed is placement.
@@zackamig4446Stapleton is well established an go back far beyound the last 10 ...more like 15 year drought of true country songs. Western genre died of attrition of a fading lifestyle. "When my fingers find your strings " What a great line. Jeff just made my week.

song's been out for like 15 years tho :-)
well said.
UNREAL!!!
I've watched this more than a few times, and can't get over how good Mr Daniels is.
Jeff Daniels is a true Renaissance genius. A gifted actor, a skilled musician, and seemingly an all-around nice guy, Mr. Daniels is a man in full. We are better off for having him in our midst. Thanks, Jeff Daniels, for the breadth of brilliance that you bring to the world. It's much appreciated, and inestimably admired.
MY personal favorite: ua-cam.com/video/RyzDRc34l2g/v-deo.html
He left Hollywood decades ago and he and his Wife moved out of California with their 3 now successful grown Children. Married for over 40 years....he did everything right.
EXACTLY what he said.
"I hold you so carefully, I handle you with care...but I'm not holding you, its you who's holding me" - what a beautifully poetic line. Love Jeff Daniels even more
If you’re gonna quote someone would you mind actually quoting them?
Loved Jeff Daniel’s sing and guitar playing. I enjoy his acting, but who knew there’s more.
If someone has not offered him a recording contract after that .... there are no words to describe... that song was better than 99.9 % of the music being put out today.
Let’s not get carried away.
@@molder2233 Hell, I'd buy an album of 10 songs of that quality.
Lucky for you Jeff Daniels has been putting out incredible albums for over 20 years!
Yeeee this song is like 15+ years old of him :)
He's clearly a man of faith who wants nothing to do with a contract in an evil industry of filth.
Just lets you know that there a thousand of unbelievably talented people out there that you never hear of.
…made me cry.
I cried with you.
you’re so so right, there’s talent hidden everywhere
Actually, Jeff is well known in composing circles with hundreds of songs to his credit. I’ve seen him a number of times here in Chelsea, Michigan where he’s from and owns the famous Purple Rose Theater. Fantastic poet, song writer, actor and just a wonderful person.
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing!

Same. I'm dumbfounded. My wife showed me this and I was SO surprised.
That was one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Beautiful!!
Kelly was genuinely speechless, I love it.
Not really she spoken half way through the performance which prompted the audience to clap
Kelly was shocked she didn't think Jeff could play such a tender song like he did she became abit emotional towards the end

Wow. As a 61 yo lifelong guitarist, that teared me up pretty intensely. I'm sure this will be recorded, likely thanks to the sweet Kelly, what a treasure you are girl!
As a guitarist of over 20 years who feels like they’ve lost there way and become disconnected from the love of my life that is guitar through so much loss… this is a wonderful reminder of the lifelong friendship and romance we create with our instruments that help show the world (but first ourselves) who we are, and who we can be. 🖤
Ok, as a guy from UA-cam, stop saying as a guy from.
Never once did he write “as a guy from” only you did. Twice. Can I buy you glasses? Or atleast take my money for you mental health medication.
@@jeremystovall9616 I appreciate you 😊
When a talent writes a song for itself, this is what happens.. tears of joy from strangers. Brilliant
"You were there when I was thinking through all them things I was thinking of" and "you turned my never-evers into maybe I just might" are lines that very accomplished songwriters will go an entire career without matching. What a man Jeff Daniels!
And what makes them so great is just how simple and unassuming both of those lines are. One is a simple repetition, the other is just an opposite. But you don't have to think about such a simple line, you just know exactly what it feels like.
Never knew Jeff Daniels played guitar before seeing this. I've played guitar and written songs for 40 plus years. But that single line in his song about his guitar touched me in a way I never thought. "I'm not holding you, you're holding me." That was a way to see the instrument not as a tool but a part of one's self. And is also a great song I'd pay for. Thanks Jeff.

@@barflytom3273 , whatta f*** is your problem? Your comment is plain stupid, not Kelly's reaction! She's being real and relatable! What the f*** do you want?
When your daily relationship with your friends is "he's just that nice guy that works over on that production line..." it goes through an incredible change when this kind of opportunity occurs. In one moment they stop and gape at "who is this guy???" It is soooo much fun and so rewarding to surprise your friends with that unknown talent. Music and musicianship is one thing that can be so rewarding regardless of your age. I started playing clarinet & sax in a dixieland group when I was about 7 or 8 and singing when I was a bit older. Most of the people I knew had no idea. It doesn't have to be on a large stage like Jeff was on but to your unsuspecting friends it's very startling and a whole lot of fun!! Music just knows no limits.
That was amazing! People will tune in to Kellys show just for guests like that. Big big bow to Jeff Daniels!!
