I love the pride in the gentleman who is showing you around. THAT is someone who loves what he does. THAT is the dude i want in charge of making my food
I was in heaven the whole video. I'm 71 years old and my father worked at American Airlines and British Airways from my birth onward. I've always loved airline food, always. I started flying in DC-6 prop planes through the present day aircraft. Still love eating in flight. Thanks. You make the best videos and share the most fun.
That was one of the best videos you’ve done Sam. Very different from you flying and you get to see behind the scenes on what it takes just to get food to the aircraft. Great job!
This is what sets Sam Chui apart from the other airline bloggers. He looks at all aspects of aviation. He has a few other videos like these on behind-the-scenes actions of airlines.
It shows how strict Emirates' catering standards are that they immediately took out the clean trays that Sam touched with his hands. Another great video Sam, very informative and impressive!
I don't see real hygiene in this Emirates kitchen, It seems to me a very obsolete kitchen, everything is done manually, most of those who work there do not cover their mouths completely, In China I had the opportunity to enter a kitchen like that where they prepare food for airlines and the whole process was automated and very clean, everyone who works there must wear a transparent plastic device that covers their mouths and they can talk to each other without the possibility of saliva particles getting into the food, another thing they are not using food grade gloves, they are using regular gloves that are not the most appropriate for handling food, I don't see much hygiene in the Emirates kitchen. I am going to send a video to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum so that he can see a fully automated and very clean kitchen and correct the errors and the poor hygiene that is there in the Emirates Airlines kitchen.
For economy class, Emirates does provide the best catering service among all the airlines around the world! And the scale they handle every day is truly amazing!
What a massive industry, and this is just one kitchen of many around the world. Not so long ago all the washing up would of all been done by hand and no recycling. Incredible. Thank you
Me and my Husband Worked here in this Amazing Company for almost 3 years!🥳 I’m so happy to see Sir Bassam, Chef James and Sir Robert..🤗😊🥰 Every department is very important and organized! You guys can’t imagine the Hardwork and passion every Employees put into every Tray..❤ Whenever I’m in the flight, I wish I could tell to everyone “Hey don’t waste the food” hey! Finish your Food, Haha!🤗😁 Great Video Sam! Love from Naveen and Jona😍
Wow!, amount of work goes into keep us fed 36000 feet In the air is simply uncomparably hard job. Thanks Sam for showing us the behind the scenes work. Kudos to all those workers and chefs and everyone who keeps our stomachs full during our flights.
I'm sure this facility has multiple managers handling different sections and shifts. If you've been working in the industry for some time, it'll be a walk in the park.
Mr Chui, of all you videos you’ve ever put out here. This one I love. It’s amazing to see what goes into preparing airplane food and the sanitation process of making so sure how clean the utensils and plates are. That’s so important to me. Thank you so much for the insight. And I do love all of your content. While I will never go to all those beautiful place you go to. It’s great to see everything through your eyes. Thank you. Much love and respect from Paterson NJ
Amazing how the catering has grown. When I first flew through DXB in 1973 (refuelling and catering stop on BritishAirtours charter flight B707 LGW-BKK) any serious catering was done by a top local hotel downtown ! Back then there were not many long-haul flight movements and many other carriers en route to Asia would stop in BAH.
Just incredible what Emirates does to ensure customer satisfaction with wonderful food. 220,000 meals per day....unbelievable. Thanks for the inside look at the kitchen Sam!
Sam, the logistics are mind boggling. This is a rare behind the scenes look of controlled chaos. I’m glad everyone there knows what they’re doing. I wouldn’t have the foggiest idea. As always, safe travels, from YYC. Very cool vid.
One of your best videos Sam!! Really cool to see the inner workings and to think.. 220,000 meals a day?? Crazyyy. Having grown up in the fine dining restaurant business, it’s also really nice to see the pride that these workers have in what they are cooking. Love the head chef as well, seems to be a really down to earth kind of guy. That high pressure water slicer is pretty wild, never seen something like this.
Impressive. Thanks Sam for this precious documentary. All of us aviation fans are grateful for the opportunity to learn about this unimaginable aviation backstage. 👏👏👏👏
This is incredible ! I fly for a living .. eat the food provided but I never ask my self on where and how it was made ! its simply incredible ! for me its probably one of your best video . Thank you
I've once had the chance to visit the kitchen of Cathay's catering in HongKong. I was surprised to see real cooks as I thought machine would have taken over. Now I see Emirates and it still blow my minds. What an impressive organization behind your flight meal. Thanks for sharing this.
This has to be the best video you have done, Sam. As a trained agronomist, I marvel at the scientific advancements adopted at the Vertical Farm. It's a marvel. My best part so far. Thank you for sharing the adventure. 🙏🙏
Love the video Sam. I really enjoy the behind the scenes look at what goes into the catering of an airline like Emirates, and that they do that everyday is incredible. Props to Emirates for the access they gave you, so you could show us! Thanks Sam and Emirates.
All of that food makes me hungry this Saturday morning. It looks so good. Thanks Sam for giving us a peek behind the scenes of how it all comes together.
Wow, this is amazing video. Sam you are one of the kind. I love you videos not only from the flight but things from behind the scene like the one about this kitchen. Thank you.
After watching this video I will definitely respect more whatever food they serve and hat’s of to you guys whoever working that hard for make us happy inflight
Dear Sam, thank you and thanks to Emirates for this behind the scenes video. The hard working staff are special people. I hope that recycling takes place as our global environment is so fragile. Thank you again and keep up the good work!
I shouldn't have watched this - I'm hungry now. What I'm amazed at is the amount of care going into each meal, I had pictured it being a machine-type mass production with just a few people supervising. Instead it looks like every step has a person who is responsible for their part of every meal and ensures the quality is to a high standard. I flew to Europe from New Zealand and return on Emirates 16 years ago, I remember the meals being very good - having seen this video I can understand why.
Really eye opening and mind expanding video Sam. Nice to see processes and integrations that go into providing the critical in flight experience. Thanks for sharing this.
A very complex procedures under a turnkey project from start to end made perfect by those hard working people working behind the science in the Kitchen.. I love Emirates on board meals.. Well done Sam
In the many jobs I’ve had in my working career I’ve worked in mahoosive kitchens and the one thing that was drummed into me from the beginning was if you had a meal presented to you in an unclean plate how would you feel?, so you get the job right first time every time but I was also told that there’s a way to complain without having to belittle the serving staff without wondering if because you’ve moaned at them and worrying if they’ve done something to your plate when it’s out of your sight. I have on more than one occasion seen the chef’s do something to the food of a moaner but I’m delighted to see the cleanliness of the kitchens and the quality of the food, thank you sam
Thanks Sam. Very interesting ! I didn't imagined such side of the services offered onboard. I'm amazed by the quality despite of the quantity ! Every steps we saw in your video are precise and controlled. It is both industrial and a work of craftsmanship. I am impressed with cleanliness and hygiene. It's a great showcase for this company that I use regularly.
Here we are having those meals on our flights while flying across the world, but what we don’t know is that the hygienic process it goes through to get you that tasty meal. The scale of these operations is insane. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes to see what it takes to get you those meals on your flight.
Absolutely mind blowing!!! It just goes, that we the travelers, know hardly anything about the people, organization and technology working behind the scenes. Staggering.

Hi Sam. Great video. In regards to the vertical gardening, I wonder if there is a taste difference between the vertical method versus soil gardening. The video really shows how much Emirates cares about their customers by providing meals respective to their customs. Further, James from Hawaii was absolutely amazing. What a great tour guide. The knowledge of the various foods served is just unbelievable. One of the highlights is when James was stating the length it took to nail down the right recipe for the French toast. That spoke volume to their commitment to food perfection with something as basic as French toast. Sam, I think you are single handedly promoting the airline industry with all your videos. It is no wonder that most airlines give you permission for behind the scenes access. Again, great video.
The ground staff is never hungry on these. I used to be an ac engineer for a gulf carrier, i picked up 10kgs in 2 years. So much good food untouched, incredible waste. Unopened steaks, fish, all 1 st class meals. I was eating 5-6 full 1st class courses a shift
Well done Sam and Emirates, thanks for sharing this very interesting tour with us! Emirates in my opinion does the Indian Subcontinental meals best along with their signature Muhammara in the mezze 😊
Excellent as always, Sam. Wonderful video to show us what is behind an Emirates meal. Incredible the entire process and infrastructure to grow, cook and distribute all that food on time. What a great airline is Emirates and you are the best airline youtuber!!
