Hiking the Iconic West Coast Trail (Part 3 of 4)

- I hike the West Coast Trail on this segment of my thru hike from Victoria to Tofino along the rugged West Coast of Canada. My husband Brian and I hike through Port Renfrew to make it to the southern terminus of the WCT. We venture out into the Canadian wilderness yet again to navigate stunning beaches and difficult inland routes.
The West Coast Trail travels through the traditional territories of the Huu-ay-aht, Ditidaht, and Pacheedaht First Nations. The trail is as stunning as it is harrowing. On our final day we face the most difficult conditions possible, strong and fast flowing stream crossings.
I hope you enjoy joining me on this 4-day, 80 km, stretch of my thru hike from Victoria to Tofino. I am so lucky I get to share these beautiful landscapes with you :)

So awesome! Great wildlife moments. I love river otters! The Olympic Coast leans more toward ropes and it looks like West Coast Trail leans more toward ladders. I love that expression--"champagne hiking"! So, when its pouring down rain is that "cheap beer hiking"?

Just an idea: on your last video you had ponchos. When i was in Bali i bought ponchos that motorcycle drivers wear that go over them and their seat at the back so the water doesn’t pool on their seat. I use the ponchos now for over myself and my backpack. They are a little heavy but you might be able to find lite ones.

One more comment/question: do you ever get tempted to take a zero day while you’re out on trail and it’s raining like crazy? Or is it better just to tough it out and keep hiking on those days?
It is day 9
