@@AliceFordAdventures a few years ago i did 6 miles in 2 hours carrying a 89 pound pack, but my boots didn't fit well and destroyed my heels, make sure your boots fit correctly.

@@AliceFordAdventures I hope I don't seem imposing but "Alice in wonderland backpacking" (or hiking or trekking) would be a great title and would compliment the algorithm in your favor. I could be wrong though I do have some compelling reasons to believe this
This is so beautiful. It feels like I am walking through the forest with you. Thank you for reminding me what a beautiful place we live in. I am from Vancouver, Canada and there are a lot of gorgeous places to see. :-)
Wowsers Alice. You are absolutely a fabulous human being and I so appreciate that you create such high quality videography of your adventures. This one is one of my favorites ever. What a truly spectacular part of our pale blue dot. You keep going girl! Love and best wishes.
That was awesome Alice. I was patiently waiting for this trail report. There is so much to see. I am glad that there is more than one part to this adventure. Very well done, as usual, and the safety comments are greatly appreciated. The West Coast Trail is more than a walk in a park, it is remote and no exit points along the trail. A person has to be self-sufficient for a whole week, to be compatible with the elements and with the wildlife. Good gear is so important, the best quality a hiker can buy and has to depend on. I am glad you did it, you are a tough Lady. Determination is what it takes, the rest follows one step at the time. Hiking solo is difficult, more weight on your back, nobody to share with, especially the food although it is dehydrated most of it, still. I can't wait to watch Part # 2. 🇨🇦 🥾 😎 🇺🇸
@@AliceFordAdventures as you know as well as anyone in LA, there are so many "entertainment, educational, alternative experiences, cultural encounters" options, as well as the vastness of mother nature to explore and experience. Alice, you know, you are able to do all of this with such quality and exceptional energy and personality. It's, your work, you, are phenomenal. I'm grateful for the experiences. Peace and love.
Amazing video! Thank you for sharing it with us! I did the hike in 1982 with my dad and some friends from uni. Your video brought back great memories! Nice to see the trail is being taken care of and is not too over-developed or over-used!
Thank you so much Brian. It is wonderful that this hike is permit only and I sure hope it stays that way. So happy to have brought back some great memories
That cable car was so challenging to get into because there’s no brake. If only I’ve been able to film that part you would’ve seen the real struggle. Haha
So good, Alice! That cable car crossing was beautiful but seemed rough. Not exactly a zip line. The waterfalls where you swam were really cool and looked cold. Hot chocolate after that sounded like a good call. In fact, there wasn’t really much footage of this hike that wouldn’t call for some hot chocolate.
I watch this for many times as it is indeed a great hiking video. The most interesting part is the wonderful waterfall at the end of the episode which you are enjoying swimming in it.
You make really quality content, thank you so much for the effort! Looks like an epic adventure! I hope to do it someday myself. I live just south of there.
Your videos, your hard work is well worth it. I have done that same approach….walk….set up the camera….then retrieve the gear and repeat the process through the entire hike. This is where you Volunteer Camera crew tags along and follows you and stays out of view….lol
No camp food pouches sold back in 1979, we had to bring actual groceries and create every meal along the way. Had a big chunk of triple smoked bacon for storage reasons but it tasted great once sliced and cooked up.
We even crossed the surge channel at KM 64 with 2 other people who join us. A U.S. group of 11 chickened out and went back into the inland trail while we continued beach hiking. We 5 were at Thrasher cove hours before the 11 finally showed up.
Awesome video footage. Very well narrated. Glad you are experiencing this gem on your own. Love to see your gear content. Thanks a lot for sharing. Looking forward to part 2. Enjoy and stay safe
My longest hike was on the CDT just for 4 days though, 100 miles. Longest day hike was RIm-Rim-Rim in 22 hours with sore legs for a week lol. Most fun solo backpacking trip was up in Bridger Mountains, MT where a black bear came to visit me around 2am. That was exciting.
i did the trail from south to north i loved it . did the hike in early 90s and we stopped at Chez Monique but i learned it is long closed. i would love to doing the trail agin from north to south.
Luv Vancouver Island worked at Nanaimo for couple of months. Many moons ago. I am a proud member of the Ford Army even if virtual😊. Blessings my spiritual kin. 🙏 ❤
Loved your video and am looking forward to Part 2. I planned for a large group to do this Westg Coast Trail in 2020, but Covid shut that trip down. I don't have the heart to plan this trip for a large group again, but your solo adventure has inspired me to perhaps do it solo in the future:) Thanks for your inspiring adventures/videos.
Colorado for some alpine fishing and one or two 14ers depending on how the group feels. After that I’m heading to Pictured Rocks in Michigan. I’m dying for some cooler weather. I just flew out of Florida today. It was over a 100° heat index. I’m in North Carolina now. A little cooler. But I’m heading further north tomorrow. I can’t wait to get to get back in the Colorado mountains though.
Hi Alice 👋 Thank you, hope you had a great time, beautiful scenery 🙂 Appreciate you, stay safe and take care my friend 🙏 Sangre De Christo range in Colorado would probably be the longest hike 👍
@@AliceFordAdventures It is amazing! I've always been a fan of your channel, it's fun seeing when you explore Canada or somewhere I have been before. And places I haven't been... I guess I enjoy it all lol
When we got to the hole through the rocks....you'll know it when you see it, many Km. into the trip, we were at low tide so we walked way out over the exposed hard rock out to the ocean's edge which was about 4 feet up from deep water we heard whales spouting. Two grey whales were there and they circled so close to us we could have jumped on their backs as they cruised by lookin up at us. Got pictures of it somewhere.
This is black bear territory which don’t scare me as we had a lot growing up and bear bells really don’t do anything, your voice is a much better deterrent.
Great video, wow. I've done this hike 3 times, always in August. Twice in the 1990's and once in 2004. All three times I hike from the south to the north end of the trail. Well I'm off to watch the second part.
What's the longest hike or backpacking trip you have done?
Hey Alice, Wow into the thick of it! Six-week Geology Field Camp was a highlight, day jaunts about with mapping goals.
Everest Base Camp. 10-day trek from Lukla to EBC. Not alone but with a small group.
hiking probably around 20 miles per day, canoeing around 100 in 3 days, cycling 50 miles in around 5 hours.

Some people have hiked around all 5 of the Great Lakes, probably need to be retired to do that, there are several long trails in Michigan & Ontario.
