Earlier today on Hossin a hacker spawned a colossus tank that was speeding around Nason's at turbo-harasser speeds. Wasn't massacring the masses, just destroying armor and the odd planetman with poor awareness.

I accepted that I am in in the lower skill percentile. I went through the "no way they're this good, theyre hacking" but then I realized, no way are 40-50% of player base hacking I'm just dog shit
I also accepted it. I do my part, heal repair and thank for every support I receive myself and thats my work.
I kinda try to keep up a good game culture, helping each other, thanking foes for some duels or insult the person who made that fucking base untraversible with a sundy🥲
Ironically a recent poll I saw from a game journalist... super trustworthy lol, showed that 60 to 70% of gamers admitted to cheating. Now that's super vague. But IF that includes other cultures, some view cheating differently as well. Some are anything to win. I'm getting older now and don't play as much, but I use to be very good. I got accused of cheating all the time. And honestly even in real life, u beat someone at anything, half the time they accuse u of cheating. So it is way overused but apparently very common as well lol
About 10% of the players are cheating, but they're making 30-50% of the kills, so half the time you are actually killed by a hacker.

In tarkov, years of dedicated research by community members lead to the answer of 7.5-15% are cheating. It's because you can earn RMT money.
But other games, the cheats themselves generate money primarily so the number has to be lower. But not by much imo most don't bother trying to set up RMT shop

I'm convinced that a good percentage of the Recursion players do in fact hack. Example: It was a 1v1 scenario, somewhat in the knife range, or just about. I was jumping off a sundy, with the Recursion player DIRECTLY under me. And yet he was able to pull out his commissioner and shoot me in the head, THROUGH my feet. This is not the only example I could give you.
It's pretty funny that you defend a player (Blades) that received a permanent ban on his account for cheating (in this case netlimiting) in this video. Sad to see.
When did he use a net limiter, certainly not in the video posted to reddit.

@@cherrysherry2538 Yeah... Its called a witch hunt. Daybreak gets an overwhelming amount of reports based on footage collected over multiple years. On top of that he wears the tag of a shitty troll outfit, HOUR. Easy to ban. Doesn't mean he is lag switching though. I called it an "asshole" ban. And maybe deserved for that. But not for net limiting.
@@CMDRCyrious You are aware that you can use admin commands in game and from a CS console to obverse the telemetry of a given player right? This ban did not happen right after a reddit post, it happened after a couple of weeks which gave CS time to evaluate the player's internet connection. Blades has confirmed himself that he was banned. Netlimiting is the act of interfering with packets sent to or from the server/client and is explicitly stated as a violation of the TOS. Additionally, using a third-party program to do so is considered cheating under the TOS. I don't really understand what the argument is here. Sure, people can be loose with any accusation, but taking up the torch for people who can be identified as modifying their connection by CS just ain't it.

Out of pure curiosity, I looked up that "Jointhecheaters" guy to see how many hours he had. I assumed it wouldn't be many because he was BR30 or so and he was throwing hackusations out there. Turns out that dude is prestige 1 and has about 200 more hours in game than I do. So I'm assuming it's more a case of someone who's either having a bad day or just hasn't bothered to educate themselves on how the game works. And I think those two reasons are probably why most hackusations happen.
I've been playing for just over 3 years and I've seen 2 or maybe 3 of those flying max players. They don't last all that long. I've also seen people saying the game is rife with hackers and it's just not true. I'm averaging seeing 1 per year at most. If I get killed when I've just ran through the spawn room shields, for example, then I just assume I was dead before I got to the shields because I understand how the game works (mostly thanks to your videos). That's on me, I wasn't fast enough or I was in a bad position to begin with. It's not a reason to go insulting the person who killed me. GG to them.
Hackusations from dumb/angry people are a far bigger problem than actual hackers. Even I've been accused of hacking before and I'm a very average player. I've received way more hackusations than the number of actual hackers I've seen in Planetside 2.
Whilst I agree with you, I have to ask what server you're playing on to only see one hacker a year? I only got back into the game a month or so ago (mostly playing on Emerald and occasionally Cobalt) and I've seen two obvious hackers (one on a flying invincible mana turret, another in a teleporting Liberator hanging out above the flight ceiling to snipe people with ESF manoeuvrability) a bunch more cases that straddle the line between "that player is really good, I have no idea how they did that" and "I don't think that's actually possible".
@@Allstar-yl1ek I play on cobalt. I have taken a few breaks from the game but I have about 1200 hours with all my characters combined and I've only seen 2 or 3 in that time. I feel like if it straddles the border and you're not sure if it's possible then it's probably not hacking. Like I said, I'm a very average player and my rig isn't brand new, just decent. I also don't like playing on potato settings although I have turned them down a bit for more FPS. There's probably a bunch of things I'm not capable of pulling off in PS2 but are possible for other players. And I'm fine with that. I've never paid attention to kd or kpm. Fun per minute is way more satisfying for me and the vast majority of times I play PS2 provides exactly that.
I’ve played since launch, and can confirm you don’t really know what you’re talking about. I observe other players just about as much as I actively play and after a while you learn what is possible in this game and what is not. You learn what is “just a glitch” and what is a not so obvious exploit. Sorry, but 2 or 3 years isn’t shit!

This is true. Anyone who accuses an Australian or New Zealand player of being bad because they died to whatever is delusional. Take the best player on the server and give them 250-300 ping. They will suck. They will constantly die to things they can't see. They will miss so many shots because the player movement starts to get really sketchy at around 200ms. The players with the best killstreaks all have excellent connection. There is only disadvantage to high ping.
Serious question: My main complaint about Recursion players is that they seem to soak up so much more damage than other players before dying. I don't know how many times I've had the drop on them from behind, close range. Open up in a way that would quickly kill any other player. Nope. They magically survive, whip around, and kill me instantly.
Over time it just becomes second nature figuring out what bamboozled you, but pretty much anyone who runs on high emotion will accuse and make excuses.
Oh I enjoy when my server latency decides to be seconds during prime time, something that didn't happen years ago. (Connery isn't any better for me from central US)
I've been killed behind shields, around corners, behind walls, behind vehicles when I was clearly safe on my screen so many times I just chalked it up to the game being a POS.
I love the youtubers who dance into packed capture points headshotting everyone in site, while the enemy is constantly firing to the side of them almost like their target isn't where it appears to be... and then go on to tell everyone how bad most players are. Maybe take some of the hackusations as being exactly what it appears to be from that players perspective, and maybe indulge in a little humility when it comes to your and and most youtubers belief in your god like skill levels, because your self confessed "perfect" internet is the exception not the rule...getting to do things half a second before most other players makes you and others like you think most players are just bad, and makes most players think you and the "perfect" internet crew must be cheating. Perspective champ.
When I was a new player I absolutely hated being farmed by GOBs. I didn't accuse them of using scripts or lag switching, I decided to get better, and now I don't get farmed.
Forgot to mention that these people are clearly all so young that they never played video games on dialup, or are so old that the dementia took those memories from them - I remember playing team fortress classic on 28.8k dialup. My ping was a very stable 480ms. I could hold a dot on the sniper, move behind cover, and if I was fast enough, let go of the trigger and kill someone while I wasn't even visible if they walked into my line of fire.
In mechwarrior 4 and planetside 1, I was a literal human rubber band from hell. I was literally impossible to kill in melee in PS1 or in a small light mech in MW4.
I think I actually got worse at video games when I finally got internet with a ping under 100ms
This topic is very frustrating for me. I ask in game how to find out my ping, and all I get is hit “tab key” or they auto answer with alt-f…. That is not ping that is FPS. Because I can’t see my ping. I as a player don’t know what to expect in game and therefore get mad because I go into fights on my screen see them first, but I’m already dead and don’t know it. If I could see my ping. I as a player might be in a better position to make solid choices in my attacks. I did see some very strange activity this weekend. I was snipped through a rock and it wasn’t that I over exposed myself. Never went past the rock. I’m aware of elevated positions looking down but still for my to see the landing pad from behind this rock. I had to back up. Which I did. Brings me back to ping. Nearly 30 seconds go by and I’m hugging this rock. Only to be snipped in the head. So, the question… How could I have an FPS on average 120, and a unknown ping of something god-awful??? Can’t tell either way.
Hold tab and look for the ping. The connection is there you just didn't see it or thought it was fps.
I remember investigating about how people may have input delay or slow mouse response.
I tried a lot of things but the one thing that fixed it for me was this;
Opening up Task Manager and going to the Planetside 2 application and opening up to go to details you can change two things.
Process Priority, which can be on high for most people.
Then, "Affinity".
Change affinity to exclude one of the 4 cores (I always chose the fourth core, or CPU 3. )
What is affinity?
Basically its what determines what cores your application will use.
For example if you have a 4 core CPU and 4 threads, you may come with an issue like I have where your mouse and keyboard input would be heavily delayed due to the system not being able to put enough processing power into your keyboard and mouse inputs for some weird reason.
However for other systems, like an 8 Core CPU and 16/8 threads, this shouldn't be an issue unless its a really bad CPU.
This whole thing about changing affinity mainly applies to the low end systems however who do not have enough threads for their CPU and Keyboard to function.
The guy who got popped A2G is amusing because that's, well, just a thing that happens a lot. Just a couple dozen hours in it'd click for him 'yeah sometimes the way the server figures things out, once in a while I'll get popped running in through the shield'. Is it frustrating? Yes! But it's not anyone's fault, it's just how the game works.
The coalesced population into Emerald has definitely made gameplay strange. Lots of kill trading and dying around corners than ever before. Not to mention, the "medium" population fights are during off hours now so the server is always loaded.
This video is a whiplash. As someone who plays on Cobalt and frequently faces people with varying quality of internet (not everyone in Europe has a good internet) I was gonna laugh at you saying that lagswitch doesnt exist. But if I understand correctly what you're saying is, it exists, but is not on purpose, which is exactly what I think it is, it's an issue, but we cant exactly force every country in the world to put high speed internet at affordable prices everywhere.
Having spoken with some very good players on Cobalt, that have all their outfit in a specific country of Europe, after they killed me in a way that didnt seem possible (same case as you, I have "perfect" internet, when the server doesnt die), they said that yes, their connexion is shit, but like, what can they do about it.

First time I played Battlefield 3 I killed a dude spam firing through their smoke screen and instantly got called a aimbot. lol I then said I just started playing and was just spamming his dorito, and he actually apologized.
For me most folks that complain about labeling folks cheaters are just bad players coping.
There was once where I ran behind a wall and like 3 seconds later got bolted from someone who bolted me before I ran behind the wall lol

can only talk for miller: while i can play there 2 weeks without anythink suspect, beside my squadleaders toxic behaviour to cheatersuspects. when the suspect level rises, it comes to an hight of maybe 1-2% of players that are suspect, and it doesnt help that they play in the same outfit,have good internetconnnections and know how to play well at the peak of the skillceiling in ps2. now what makes them suspect? is it there warping around the map at times, or the high killcount that they rack up to be the top leader in the killscore that is 4 times higher then any other players/max users or the speed at which they accumulate the killcount. well it is, while some players can get lucky and minekill a full sunderer of people or play antiinfantry maxes with multiple engies behind them, these players just get 5 kills in 3 secounds and then they die or repeat with another killstreak. but what furriates is that the look into 3.party logs, these kills are made with regular playerweapons where you need to headshot with all bullets just to be able to susatin the dps for the speed to maintain a high killcount. when 90-100% headshotrate becomes the norm for these repeating players, then it becomes frustrating and in planetside you cant just avoid these players by switching to the other side of the continent if you care about alertgameplay etc.

I know you never did guides on mbts because you're not as familiar with the vanguard and magrider but general tips on positioning for those new to tanking (like me lol) would be good to see. I know Cami's done one in the past but I'd be interested to hear your take on it. Just an idea, if it doesn't interest you doing that kinda video then that's cool.
I play from syria , the best connection i get is 140+ ping on miller , 190+ on cobalt , ive never in my life have seen this much delusion about believing higher ping gives anything other than an inhumane disadvantage , like how bad do you have to be to blame someone for having to predict where you are and prefiring to make up for the delay and still almost being able to trade kills because you have way better ping , thats if you dont outright kill them because their prediction was wrong , i wish i could swap places with one of these idiots just to show them how miserable of an experience it is ......they talk about lag switching as if they know how lag works , or what its like to lag , as if they ever lag with their high quality 1st world ISP and routers , most of my gunfights have to be absolutely accurate on my side while hoping whomever is shooting back at me misses a good bunch , even then i get traded most of the time , i either have to inflitrator or use skirmisher jumpjet mechanics mid fight to consistently win gunfights.
Going so hard to make it seem like this is not a thing does not actually help the game.
Just as the flying MAX is a obvious cheater and the blatant lag switchers are obvious cheaters we have to remember that these obvious ones are more than likely the very SMALL MINORITY of the cheaters. Most of them do not want to get caught so you will not see them flying around as a MAX shooting everyone through walls etc just as people who are fixing their connection wont be blatant about it, they do it enough to get the advantage.
The age of 100% headshot aimbots is long gone, the 'good' cheating software avoids or lets the user configure it to where it might only keep a 30-40% HSR and instead of hard flicking targeting that is very easy to spot as an observer they use a soft aim instead, either to actually move the aim when its close to a target or simply send the bullets where they should go when the aim is close enough.
I am half convinced most of the blatant flying MAXes are actually the cheat software developers testing out their programs to see what gets caught and what gets past the detection, not normal players.
You have to keep in mind that these types of cheats are made to make money, they sell them. The main selling point of any cheating software is that its undetected and the fact that there are occasionally periods of times when the servers gets hit by these blatant cheaters at least means that there are still people making the cheating software and selling it. If no one bought no one would make them.
Who are using/buying these cheats?
Seems unlikely that its mainly the flying MAXes at least = most of them are the silent type of cheaters, they pretend to be a normal player which makes sense when you take into account that some of these people could very well be players who have been part of the game for the better part of a decade and have invested a lot of time into their account and have made a lot of friends in the game who may or may not know about them cheating.
The same logic applies to the "lag switchers", its not a new thing, people have been doing it since pretty much the start and I imagine its also much easier to convince yourself/others to do it since a lot of people dont think its cheating as long as its not the blatant type and I would expect the majority of players doing it are careful about being caught rather than wanting to push it to 11.
Its not rampant or a plague in the game but it seems a bit naive or stupid to basically make claims that its so rare that no one does it.
If so few people used cheats, there would not be 'developers' creating them and selling them in the first place but its objectively true that new cheating software IS being made for the game.. so people are buying and using it.
Sadly only call out I get is when I'm making use of Scout Radar or sight/audible awareness of Cloak effect/sound. Had to counter report someone stating they're reporting me when I was merely trying to diffuse or explain to them how I could narrow down their location. :p Even sent the screenshot at the moment to show my vehicle had it on.
Another tiny moment was way far back before Bastions were a thing, when I was feeling lazy and bored in a Bio-Lab and started using Fire Thumper. Kill Screen doesn't tell you how you were killed and good thing for this occurrence, the other player was a Vet and was confused as well and reached out what he was killed by, small laugh was shared. Though at this rate the community I feel like has learned of this as well as practicing to use Sticky Nades for spawn rooms because they run back in.
As for the Hackers, for a moment there was two flying hackers probably close buds just joshing about but that was ways back. Being bored of the game, I always found it a giggle to see them about changing up the battlefield but still know its bad. I just try to tell folks they're encouraging armor play because those you can't kill fast as infantry and the units they picked often couldn't do damage to vehicles. Now I just jokingly see other hackers as wannabes of these Nasa ones. xD
Your usual on and off ones I feel like found now is just shoot through stuff folks which is more easier to spot out. Once saw a lightning stuck in traffic shooting at the ground secretly aiming at an Enemy Sunde not spotted for anyone until I noticed smoke coming from a nearby tower. I wanted to shoot him in the back so bad but that would also be bad too... I had a moral dilemma at that moment. xD
They eventually fade away like the boredom of the natural gaming community as I'm sadly one of those that got burnt out completely. Feel like any shoot through you find is just some other newbie that found/bought the cheats to release stress like a CoD game then drop the game until another half year passes.
Yep im playing from australia and got IP banned from high ping, briggs is empty and so i gotta play elsewhere, australian internet sucks
Defending Blades is a massive L take; There's people from New Zealand, Rural Brazil, Korea and Indonesia playing on Emerald every day who don't lag even a fraction of what Blades """lags""", and unlike Blades, their latency is permanent and consistent, they don't magically suck when you catch them off guard or move normally only when out of combat. Synth lags only when it's favorable to him and there's overwhelming evidence of this happening, so of course he deserves the ban.
Would love to see some evidence. What was on reddit was average run of the mill packet loss. Shoot just this video has a person "lagging" worse than any of those clips and I bet Hugenerd has less than 100 ping.

I'm someone who has the displeasure of playing using my mobile hotspot due to no home wifi. It's a constant fear that I'll get in trouble simply for being less fortunate and having garbage internet connection. It's to the point where I'm hesitant to get back into the game and instead focus on less network intensive games.
I've been there, heck sometimes the hotspot was slightly better than my old internet. I still played the crap out of this game and 99/100 times it went against me and I never once got reported or banned. Certain other games you could easily be kicked from the lobby but the chance of getting severe consequences are minimal if at all.
sheer amount of time im behind a rock for a solid second and still die is pure agravating but welcome to MMO games
One player has 90% headshot accuracy with over 20++ weapons and has been an active Member for a while. They exist.

ive noticed an uptick in being seen while cloaked the last few days, i was abit susd by a few players, but i couldnt be sure if i didnt see their screen, their mouse movements to their gameplay, since i also often can spot cloaked targets and with the networking being the way it is (in almost every game) theres rly no way to tell so vent/rationalize and move on, as i am doing.
Cloak is very easy to see on high graphics settings anyway, and more people than ever are able to run planetside at 100+ FPS on ultra these days. That's in addition to all the various cloak related bugs the game has which can reveal someone without them knowing.
I encountered some hacker with infinite ammo maybe hp to,light assault killing like 20 people all over again. Also using carbine but shoot like sniper at long range.
Im always on 200-230ms 😂 far away on southeast asia.
I blame lag when I get snipped through a wall while I never presented a target. It happens often enough. I have low ping all the time.
Unfortunately if the other person has a higher ping, it can still present as sniped through a wall.
I play with 250-400 ping and I never get hackusations :( but every time I 1v1 vs I always die as soon as they see me just saying
I just saw a video not long ago where the guy is using hacks that literally freeze you in place together with aimlock. And he just instantly kills any1 he wants. How funny that he has to use aimlock even tho his target is in place... btw. I think the biggest problem is the ones with Aimlock + assimilate. That's an utter bs scenario because with that combo everyone who uses the hack goes into terminator mode. These are the guys who get almost a full mag into their back, they 180 and kinda oneshot you in a flash with any weapon they just have from 40 meters. And no I'm not buying the 50% amount of headshot ratio because it's horseshit. It would be a miracle even in a game like CoD2. I recently watched someone talking about headshot ratios in his PS2 video telling he has around 25% and he had like 3% of his shots into the head troughtout the whole vid so cut the bs guys. Those who have that high HS ratios are blatant cheaters, it's obvious. But even with that mindset I feel relatively better in ps2 than in other fps shooters to be frank, just to clarify.

Interestingly, hacker/lag switcher claims on console aren't nearly as prevalent. I've fought players who seem to have lazer focused, pinpoint accuracy on console but I don't assume they're cheating or using mouse and keyboard like some people on console claim. I get killed around corners on the regular as well, but not once have I ever accused someone of cheating. I even went as far as to ask one of those really skilled players how they're so good, which started a whole new experience of watching someone really good at this game play it. I have seen a rare few videos of console players with really bad connections, but I don't think much of it. I know that most of the time it's just my lack of skill that causes my deaths and I use those deaths to learn and improve. Lag does suck, but it's unavoidable.
How does lagswitching work exactly and how does having high ping benefits the player though....when im on Emerald my ping is aroubd 15-250 at its worst i think due to me being UK.
I also notice my capability in 1vs1 in general is slightly worse than Cobalt where im under 100.
Only Hackers ive come across 70%+ usually are map glitchers hiding in the ground and under the map.
Any suspicious deaths i just check the player stats and their accuracy etc on Players.

@@UltraFlea At higher ping, the hitreg is worse. Sometimes your bullets just don't register. It is worse if you use high-rpm weapons, but I find that the NS revolvers rarely register the first shot, and many times my last shot can be perfectly on target, and disappears out of existence because I died during the animation.

I was already dead as I entered the spawn room, I just didn't know it yet. Before the recent 'superman' blatant cheaters, there were only a handful of times since I started playing PlanetSide 2 about 6 years ago that I believe I was killed by a hacker. Most of my reports are of deliberate TKs.
Ironically, particularly given my less-than-stellar K/D ratio, I have been called a hacker on occasion. Was it skill? Perhaps sometimes - I do have a lot of hours of gameplay under my belt. Was it luck - sometimes, yes. More often I chuck a block of C4, set it off, kill no-one as everyone had just moved, and then get shot as I am switching to my gun.

I have played Cs many years ago, an just because I lag so much, it look like I was cheating.
But I know in planetside2 you can go in the main script of the program, make some changes that disable explosion, smoke an so on, but that is to give less lag, still see it as cheat, since it gives a clear advantage, but dont play with it, since I like fire an explosion.

That is usually a flail kill. If it's at 600m range it does not render on your screen and just shows as a turret. It does damage through shields

I just don't understand the personal insult hack accusation. That type of person has impulse and anger control issues. There have been times where I feel like someone that I don't see regularly's aim is just a little, little too perfect in the head-clicking capability, particularly when it's an LMG at like 250-300m and he kills me 3 times in a row while I'm moving with four bullets. But I just move somewhere else, because I don't know for sure and I am not good enough at the game to know. Usually I will reach out to them and COMPLIMENT their aim with a joke like "that definitely felt like a war crime" (because for all I know they are just awesome shots), and the ones that are incredulous or rude back I have a higher suspicion against - this is very rare.

I do know that cheating in games like Tarkov is RAMPANT. like INSANE amounts of cheating. And I just don't get it. I don't see the appeal in "bragging rights" that you didn't earn.
I have seen some hilarious hijinks back in the early 2000's of stuff like CS1.3 servers where it was REQUIRED that you be cheating - and the games were straight up a competition of who could out-cheat the rest. That was the only time I've ever installed anything like an aimbot and it was hilarious when everyone was doing it and joking back and forth about it. But god it wouldn't have been fun in real games against normal people.
I'm not even very good at most FPS games. I just enjoy the act of playing a game. That's why I personally think competitive sports are stupid as well. When it starts being about winning above all else and not just the fun of competition, it stops being fun to even watch. I don't even like watching pro sports or the olympics for that reason because people either are cheating through performance enhancers or cheating through pure genetics.
Cheaters want to win. They get satisfaction from winning, not from being good. You shouldn't project about competitive sports because it makes you sound bitter.

That is a good idea Celdalin. I have only been lag switch killed once in 10 years. Unfortunately I did not clip it so I don't have video footage of it. Netlimiting is a harder one to detect for sure, but next time I see someone that is suspicious I will clip it and do a video on it.
@@CMDRCyrious will second this. I just experienced my first lagswitch death in 2200 hours of game time. It's very obvious when it happens as it's much closer to an actual hacker than a laggy player. Distinguishing between netlimiting and regular lag is nearly impossible given the issues you describe in the video.

When people think lagging gives you an advantage in games like this, and then I take a look at my planetside 2 where i'm experiencing 60,000 ping at a tech plant (on connery server and i'm not from out of the US) watching the sunderers flying in the sky and the planes' parts detaching from the plane and scrambling around in the sky. Gotta say, the only real advantage I have is i'm probably having more fun than the people around me as i'm watching the game and my internet simultaneously break at the seams.
Its beyond embarrassing , they dont know what lag is , how it looks , because frankly they never experience it with their 1st world ISPs and routers , but noooo having almost an inconstant second or 2 of delay puts you alongside hackers that wipe entire maps , the delusion is insane.
Having lowest latency possible is the best advantage. High ping is a downside. A huge, massive downside. This is because of how unpredictable the movement becomes. If you watch gameplay from Cyrious, the player movement is almost always very smooth. Playing from Australia, this is absolutely not at all my experience. It was very smooth on Briggs where I would get 30ms. Now, on 250ms, the game feels horrible.

Also we cant afford good internet so when about 4 of us r using it it just about dies. This is by far the best game i play, but bad network does does exist, and if u want to check my character (NSO Xolith on Connery) u'll notice i have 0.00% on accuracy. yep i dont even hit 0.01% of my shots, i wouldn't call it an advantage, this doesn't mean i never hit a target it's just i miss so often that im below the 3 significant figure margin. my setup contains a acer aspire 5, with wired HP keyboard attached & Bluetooth razor basilisk X hyper speed (from b day a bit back). not a great set up and runs bear minimum to make PS2 run. there r ppl with bad internet and we do exist guys, just keep it in mind is all i ask.
Sorry to say this is a pretty bad take imo. The reality is that unless we have LAN events with monitored PCs, we have zero idea of who is cheating in any game. Some studies say on average 30% of people cheat in online games, some say more or less. As someone involved in multiple outfits on Miller, I've seen the same names doing what I would consider abnormal activities week in week out. I reckon cheaters and lag exploits are bigger problem than we would like to believe as a community.
I understand that you want to defend the game and that you want it to succeed. I do too. But making statements like 999/1000 lag issues arent intentional is just as bad as saying all of them are cheaters, because you have as little evidence as the opposite side of the argument. Both extremes are ridiculous and untrue, the reality lies somewhere in between. The healthiest way to look at it is to acknowledge that yes, some people will cheat and abuse the game systems, and we will never know who or how many are doing it. The only thing you have control over is improving yourself and your own gameplay, and that's the healthiest thing to focus on: self improvement.

Even against someone with a good connection like yourself, it's difficult to come to any concrete conclusion from the opponent's perspective. Assuming it's rare is just as poor an outlook as assuming its rife, because once again it's a skewed assumption of what an individual would like to believe, that is not based on any hard evidence.
Unless we have perfect anti-cheat or a completely controlled environment, the reality is that we as players have literally no idea, which is why it's better to focus on what you can control: yourself. This doesn't mean outright accepting or dismissing that cheaters/exploiters are present.

Limit latency to X (lets say 150 ms). If it goes over 150 for x seconds, disconnect the player.
Simple solution that has even been used by community servers on many games.

There is a lot of bug abuse that has just become accepted in this game. Bug abuse ruins the game for everyone else. Some players who consider themselves "high skill" exploit these bugs as part of the game and consider it part of the learning curve. It's extremely bad for the game that these bugs are not patched, or cannot be patched. I can't count how many players have quit because of frustrations arising from this.

It's not a good take. Not because it defends the idea that the game is clean, but because defending a side isn't a good lens for the discussion. What this comes down to is expectations about the quality of service that the game provides. An ideal multiplayer experience would have no issues, no glitches, and gameplay that doesn't rest on any technical factors that ease cheating. And...this game isn't doing any of that. Some of the things where it's buggy, it could do better at, but other parts of it are going to remain low expectations forever. It's always going to have gameplay that rewards messing around with what your client reports. And there are different ways of responding to that. For most people, it's to immediately call them out and raise a stink. But doing that in an environment with poor QoS and ability to see from different viewpoints is just noise. That much, I can agree with.
The problem is mostly with the quality of service, though - if everyone had the ability to analyze each other's gameplay exactly as the server saw it, there wouldn't be a lot to witch hunt over, and Cyrious would not be in the position of having to say "just record more bro". But it is, again, one more feature that the game may have difficulty supporting for technical and logistical reasons.

You had an honest to goodness Russian script kiddy right here on your channel telling you how easy it is to cheat in this game! To claim cheating or hacking doesn’t happen is laughable. Or that it’s always so blatant. A lot of cheaters don’t want to get caught and therefore keep it in check to fly under the radar. Blatant cheaters are not the problem. I’ve noticed a psychology of hacker denial in gaming that is usually displayed by people of a higher skill level that are also a bit narcissistic… The reasoning seems to be that since someone bests you, they have to be as good, if not a better player than you, and that some shitter with cheats couldn’t have possibly outfoxed you with just simple hacks… And if someone is “gud enough” - they wouldn’t dare be a lousy cheater… As for myself, I have played since launch, I know some bullshit when I see it… I’m not racist or xenophobic, but there are certain cultures who don’t see cheating as cheating, that any advantage, no matter how unnatural or “unfair” is just another tool to win, and they would rather win at any cost than play fair. People from those places also happen to love this game and run some of the largest outfits in it. Even if hackers are a fraction of the population, it’s still enough to kill this game for a lot of people. You may be fine with a couple of cheaters, or a bunch of high ping players, but for just as many people, it’s not okay at all. Imagine your favorite restaurant gets shut down by the health department because they found a single rat. You may be fine with that, but a lot of other people are going think “rat” every time that place is mentioned, shitty, but just the way it is. DBG or their hype guy should have done a better job of keeping the rats out! Synth player clearly has demonstrated that they use this shit and deserve the ban. I think that this is a "plague" type issue. Any non fair advantageous gain in the game whether it be chinacheat, aimbot, clumsy should all be taken seriously and eradicated from the game.

This is the thing I don't get. Lack switches are not subtle. It's not hard to tell if the person you're fighting is actually switching because they slew around the screen like physics doesn't apply because of how the game interprets a lack of incoming data.
Someone getting a kill on you behind cover is not a lag switch, especially if they are moving smoothly on your screen. That's just server latency and it's normal.
It's the same situation with the majority of actual cheats in planetside. None of them are particularly subtle. As far as I can tell, we don't have a massive silent aimbot plague. There's not a lot of people using tarkov style radar. If they're hacking, you'll know they're hacking because they're being exceptionally blatant about it
When someone kills you out of sight, and then melds through the wall into your sight after they kill you, that's generally a red flag.
Someone turning their aimbot to 100% HSR isn't subtle. Flying maxes or sunderers aren't subtle. People bouncing around the map and then you're suddenly dead isn't subtle.
HOWEVER, someone turning an aimbot to 30-40% HSR, boosting dmg resistance, turning off recoil, or even just using ESP is really god damn hard to prove.
Clientside hit detection means that with even decent aim, when you get the drop on someone from behind, they're going to die before their game registers them taking dmg. Wrel did a whole video about it and demonstrated it. And yet, I've had so many encounters with players from outfits like Recursion or HOUR, where I get the drop on them from behind and they snap around and all I hear is a single "plink" and I'm dead. I've watched the recordings, on my screen they should have been LONG dead, yet I never even touched their shields, let alone their HP.
I really am not sure why so many people are so adamant that the only cheaters are the ones that are ridiculously obvious.

The reason you get so many people screeching about hacking is the lack of skill based match making. I hate skill based match making just commenting on what fps players are used to for the record. The apex predators for fps shooters are tossed in with the no skill new players like the good old days. Everyone else is trying to hide the new players from 20 year veterans of the genre. Not to say there aren't hackers and lag switchers but they aren't super common in a niche game like PS2.

i solved that problem, by bringing up a newer player in front of the guy who accused me. Recorded the skill difference and then i added on the titel of the video "lag switcher accusing skilled player, while using lagg switch on other players" and then i linked it up on my youtube channel and told him to go there and chekt it up. He just got really quiet after that. The guy been stalking me 3 days in a row and calling me out in public chat "PlayerName is lagging switching, report him for cheating".

Soltech is genuinely plagued by hackers. Every time I play on that server there are at least a few hackers. It's not just common, it's all the time. This problem occasionally bleeds into Connery because that's the next closest server to Asia after Soltech.
