    Magician reacts to Shin Lim on America's Got Talent The Champions 2019. This video shows the reaction of someone familiar with card magic so you can see how someone in this field feels about it! Shin Lim returns to AGT this year to compete again, even though he was already the Winner of AGT 2018 Season 13. Shin Lim is an amazing card magician and his sleight of hand is second to none.

      There's so much mystery about Shin's performances. There's one thing that I still can't get out of my mind! How in the world did Shin change the 6 of hearts into a 9 of hearts ( ua-cam.com/video/L5J-nhz4og0/v-deo.html) on "AGT Finals 2018?"
      I mean how in the world can Shin make that happen on camera? We all saw the 6 hearts change into 9 heart. I played this in slow-mo so many times. This blows me away! ❤️

    • @JasonParkerMagic
      @JasonParkerMagic  5 років тому

      @@LV2UJC-FM Yeah he is a great performer! That change you are talking about (while really really cool looking) is not one of my favorite parts, personally. This part is a special prop that literally has moving parts... So it's definitely not something that could be examined, as a spectator would want to do in real life "close up" situations. But... I completely understand him using it on stage and especially for TV. You gotta use everything you have to your advantage to compete against others. And it does look AMAZING...

And just like you said, at some point, I quit trying to see what he's doing, trying to figure out how he's doing it, and just enjoyed the moment. It was an awesome performance and I was both totally fooled and entertained. Well done!

    I’m glad u didn’t expose the “secrets” u have an idea about. It takes a lot of skill and practice to not only perform the illusions, flawlessly, but to also make it very entertaining. Leaving ppl speechless and wanting more. Some magicians have no respect for the art. You seem to honor and respect your fellow magicians. Thank you. 😊

      @JasonParkerMagic  5 років тому +13

      Pennie Roehrs thanks! I’m trying to walk the line somewhere in the middle. Moderation in all things. I respect my fellow magicians. But at the same time, I want to make more magic tutorial videos. In my mind, the key is focusing on good quality teaching (can encourage new magicians to start) vs simple exposure for exposure’s sake. My 2 cents. :)

    • @xtremezone3820
      @xtremezone3820 5 років тому +7

      He didn't expose it because he COULDN'T.... he doesn't know how he did many of those things just like you don't know. Jason is a mediocre physical trick magician, and there are those who tap into the spirit world. And you will never know how they did it because to the natural brain it doesn't make sense but it actually happened. Some things he does you just can't trick... he actually does them, through the aid of spirits. Anyone who doesn't know about spirits or demonic entities is ignorant and shouldn't have anything to say.

      @@xtremezone3820 the paranormal has absolutely nothing to do with Shin Lim's performance. It was all hard work and hours of practice. Pure skill is what it is, not some "hocus-pokus, paranormal" reason. Keep the pseudo "christian" BS fear-mongering out of it. It's all pure physical skill. Period.

      @someolddude3858 4 роки тому

      @@yogikkgaming Table and cards do not need to have super black surface and backs, just identically solid-colored surfaces. Standard color cameras do not have the color discernment of the human eye, so if it is good enough to fool a person, it will already be more than good enough to fool a typical camera. You need matching colors, and even diffuse lighting so that the slight elevation of the card's edges do not cast a shadow along the card's border, and perfectly even coloring, so the eye can't use stereo vision to notice the area of the card is a bit higher than the rest of the table. Magicians have used this principle for like almost forever to hide stuff in plain sight on their prop tables.

Hands are facing the camera (more or less), and the laws of physics say to me the only conceivably-possible option for this to be a real slight-of-hand trick is that they then were quickly down on the table, with a black backing that blended in well... and even so, it seems... too quick?!? Hey! Yeah I was kinda struggling with that. Because to make cards disappear on the table like how he is doing I believe he is using an old and well-protected magic secret. And on top of that I don't think it's obvious. I didn't mind commenting before on methods when I felt that an average audience member would be thinking the same thing I was.... or it was just some over-done trick people have seen a million times. In this case... I'm a little hesitant to just expose his methods. He clearly puts in a lot of work to make his performances beautiful... and I don't wanna just barge in and spoil some core thing he is using repeatedly. I'm trying to walk a fine line between the good exposure and the bad exposure. (Teaching magic to others in my mind falls under good exposure.)

    I realize this is a late comment, but what I wonder most is when the cards went into Terry's pocket. Before the performance?

    6:09 there sure is a hole in the black "filt". Watch it in 25% speed - but what great performance!

    You have to emphasize the excellent in excellent job more when talking about Shin L. Lol he’s come such a long way since I saw him on UA-cam and pen and teller and his first AGT. He might be a little too cocky now lol

    I would love some insight on these tricks. Not necessarily the full reveal but a clue. Truly remarkable. Do you know how it's done?

    I think he is too modest he does something spectacular then does not pause ... just continues on like it was nothing! 🤔

    the back of those cards disappearing have the exact same black texture as the table so all Shin does is flip them face down on table giving the illusion of disappearance into thin air. All those cards are still there just camouflaged.

    The suits used in America is from the French. There are a lot of different types of card suits in Europe, acorns, swords, etc.

    So um can we get a hint on the cards disappearing on the table. Um im not a magician but Im going to guess..that table is that special black material that only like reflects 1%light or whatever and I believe that is really what is used for purposes of cards to appear or disappear.

    I admit that he is talented, but I do not like how AGT makes it like he is "undiscovered". If anyone remembers he did fool Pen and Teller before AGT. Again crazy skills I think that he is smooth and near flawless.

    If someone actually knows, does this involve like a special mat or special cards? Or is it all actual sleight of hand?

    It's a great perfirmance and amazing sleight. I know how this trick is done. There's only 1 plausible explanation. I can explain it if people want.

      Yep I picked up a brick yesterday as well! Almost didn't get them because his website wouldn't load in the country I'm in right now over in Eastern Europe. Put on a VPN and was able to place an order luckily. Looking forward to seeing the cards in person, especially since I missed out on the v1's. Did you have the v1's?

    I guess the other question i have since you are a magician, is where do you learn good card magic. I mean you have to learn stuff somewhere. Any credible places or books to go to learn to be good at card magic. I would like to try to learn some of this stuff.
