Great interview! Dave is the ghost member of Genesis (brings back Duchess in 2022, watches over them as they rehearse in 2006, keeps their samples and sounds alive today, etc. etc.) haha great stuff!
Phenomenal interview!!! I've seen Dave in other interviews and have messed with SampleTank in the past. So great to hear his behind the scenes stories and 1st hand accounts with a band that I have worshiped all my life! Would love a longer interview with Dave with even more stories. Fascinating insight into all of the synths and gear as well. Keep up the great work!
It's funny how everyone dumps on calling all stations. And it really has a lot to do with the stigma of everyone knows Phil Collins is not in the band anymore. But in many ways the actual songwriting on calling all stations has more of the older darker Genesis sound. Even pre Duke... I'm not saying necessarily the instrumentation or the playing. When calling all stations first came out in 1997 I remember being upset I felt that they sort of destroyed the tapestry of Genesis going from trespass to We can't dance. But ten years later when I actually began to listen to that album after getting used to an album by Genesis that doesn't have Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins... I began to really hear the Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks writing. I feel the album has a bit of a demo sound to it on some songs as though there should have been some additional parts added, but at the same time the album has a serious darkness in the cords and the music that is really cool and sort of old school Genesis.. some of the lyrics are pretty dumb like small talk... But overall I think Ray does a good job on the vocals and The melodies are fairly interesting but Tony is playing with a darkness.. and Mike is playing heavier than he's played in a long time. Some of this guitar is reflective of in that quiet Earth type of heaviness
@@EverythingPhilCollins but he passed away a few years ago. I never met him and for years he lived 30 minutes from me. A regret will be with me forever. “ and it will inside of me trapped in his memory all my life” 😁
I think that this phenomenal band deserves a better legacy......as Pink Floyd has.....or Beatles......stop talking about of Genesis era...this is the right direction..thanks guys.....

Dave Kerzner is one lucky guy!! what I wouldn't have given to get my hands on some of Tony Bank's original gear, or even to see it!
Couldn't agree more!
