Great video, thanks for sharing so clearly. I wondered what your opinion was about using a pencil mic at the same time as the rode to make a more full sound? I haven’t bought one yet but I’ve seen it used
Thank you! Agreed using two mics on a sound source adds more options with how you can best represent that sound. I like using one mic for my live cover songs because it’s easy and quick to set up. However adding two mics like you’ve mentioned could have a fuller sound for a mix. Make sure to not have phase cancellation though!

Love the comment. I've gotten some good feedback on help videos. I could either do that more or do more vlog style videos, which I personally enjoy more.
My Rode NT1A doesn't detect when I'm playing the guitar even though I hear feedback through my headphones, plugged on my Focusrite audio interface... I don't understand where the problem comes from ! Is there a way to turn off noise cancellation ? Because the mic perceives my voice just fine and forms waveform, but never the guitar :(
Hello, you want to first make sure the right input source is selected, which I discuss around 6:57. If the mic is picking up sound, then it should pick up voice or guitar.
Every acoustic song with just guitar and vocals I record sounds way better when just recorded on a video on my iPhone than it does when recorded individually as tracks in logic. I don’t get it - it just always sounds over engineered and just bad.
people add effects such as reverb and compression to help with the harsh dry sound of vocals recorded straight into the computer. Recordings show more imperfections and are humbling for musicians. I have songs on my SoundCloud soundcloud.com/musicmichaelh that were just acoustic guitar and vocals and sound pretty good.
