      Glad to hear that about the shorter format. These will be more like the CDT videos, and have and 11min AVG length.

      @SeekingLost can't wait. Your cinematography is top notch.
      Have you given the PCT any thought?

    • @SeekingLost
      @SeekingLost  Рік тому +1

      Funny you should mention the PCT, I scored an April NOBO permit for this year. But with the really high snowpack (some saying highest in 3 decades), I'm already looking at other trails. I'm hoping to settle on something by March and get going on that

    Looking forward to this series. I watched the long episode series of the Mojave-Sonoran desert recently. I live in Portland but love central Oregon. Not been out to Eastern Oregon too much but did a multi-day kayak trip down the Owyhee river which was spectacular. Also done other trips on the John Day, Grande Ronde & Deschutes Rivers but very little hiking out there. This series will be great!

    • @SeekingLost
      @SeekingLost  Рік тому +1

      Oh man your trip down the Owyhee must have been incredible! Those canyons are just, well, otherworldly. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy the series!

    I remember driving through southeastern Oregon in my early twenties. Something about the vistas of the sagebrush ocean seemed so otherworldly (im from the east). Always wanted to go back and hike. Super excited for this series!

      I hear you. I grew up in the midwest, and remember when I first starting coming out west every year in the early 2010s. I was fascinated by everything, everywhere, in every state. It was just so different, so much more interesting than the sea of green trees I grew up in. Anyhow, definitely go back and hike it sometime, there's some cool stuff out here!

      It's been a long time in the making. Put a little more work into the series than I was initially planning on, but I am really happy with the way it turned out and excited to share this trail in more detail!

      For sure, there are a lot of cool places out there and few people in between! I also did a month of hiking and packrafting in Greenland last summer, was off the grid for a while there. Working on editing it all this winter!

    • @TOMinPDX
      @TOMinPDX Рік тому +1

      @@SeekingLost I was invited on a 11-12 day hike across Greenland by some Danish friends of mine. I didn't end up going but hot damn those mosquitoes looked absolutely ferocious

    • @SeekingLost
      @SeekingLost  Рік тому +1

      @@TOMinPDX Everything about Greenland seemed to be a challenge. Ironically, the mosquitoes weren't that bad for us. However, the eye gnats were horrendous. They drove me insane! That's going to be a fun video series :)

    Nice overview.
    R there maps available for this route - prefer digital but paper if not? Can maps be used on Gaia GPS? What about water & resupply? Appreciate ur reply and I’ll try to watch ur daily vlogs at some point 🤞

    • @SeekingLost
      @SeekingLost  Рік тому +1

      Thanks. Check out ONDA's website, they put together some great planning info and guides for the ODT. They do have Digital maps, I believe they offered a Caltopo map of the route. I can share my caltopo map with you if you'd like. You can export a GPX from there and import it into Gaia. Water is mostly just an issue in the 1st 160 miles. ONDA maintains a few water caches here that are critical. ONDA also provides info about where to place caches if you would like to place a few of your own. It also gets a little bit dry at the end in the owyhees. I believe the biggest water carry was 40 miles. But this also coincided with a section of the trail that you can cover some pretty good miles, and it ended up being about 30 hours inbetween water. No big deal. Resupply is Not too bad. Again, ONDA Provides an excellent town and resupply guide for this. 8-9 Resupply stops, I sent 4 boxes: Plush, Frenchglen, Denio, Rome. I sent one to McDermitt as well, but you don't need to do this.

    This would be perfect to take a dual sport on

    • @SeekingLost
      @SeekingLost  Рік тому +2

      Large parts of this route are through wilderness areas and thankfully, are not open to motorized vehicles. As a hiker, wilderness areas are my favorite, because I don't have to share them with loud dirt bikes and ATVs, Most of whom never slow down when passing a human being. In fact, they usually seem to take pride in dusting us. But large parts of this route are on BLM land too, and yes, those sections would be good for your dual sport.
