Saw that big pack in the first video and swore to just “wait and see” what happens. Didn’t take long to become an issue. You’re a good dude for helping your partner out. Maybe he can dump some gear in the first town. Looking forward to the series.
Same. Soon as I saw it I figured there'd be trouble ahead or that he will have to quit early.
Yeah, it isn't just how much weight he's carrying, it's how it distributed. Desert hikes are challenging due to water carry and temperature fluctuations, so people tend to over pack. He is cool to help out, but that's the reason I always solo.
Great videos! ODT Day 2 follows Day 1 video when played straight through, but Day 2 doesn't seem to appear "indexed" by UA-cam and is hard to find. Kinda enjoy the fast pace of the days. Personal preference is the longer episode format. You are covering a lot of interesting scenes and spots and narrative. Overall, ODT videos get five stars out of five from me! :)
Thank you Tauria :) That's interesting about the video being hard to find, it shows in search results on my end. But google/youtube likes to do stuff like that... show ME it's there, but not show it to others. Not surprised. These shorter thru hike videos haven't done well with views, but at the same time, my channel has grown more since posting videos regularly. Or maybe it's just a coincidence, as the van build videos are doing FAR better than all my hiking videos. I actually LOST 2 subs so far from this video!
@@SeekingLost Your van build series is so informative. We watched for the ideas and skill sets, alot is applicable to trucks with campers (check) and customizing and refurbishment of vehicles in general. While I/we love the hiking videos your mineralology could be a winner too!
You had quite a workout in retracing the hike and repeat the incline hike. Sometimes I over stock my pack "just in case". On shorter hikes I take less. You learn by experience. Thank you for sharing.
Definitely the CDT vibe with the music add. Thanks!
This is also a good time to discuss beginners attempting thru hikes. A lot of lessons are to be learned here.
I lived in Bend in the 80's. it was a wonderful place to live in those days. I spent many summer nights at the camp ground on Pine Mountain. The stars are incredible on clear nights.
I can see why the observatory is there, very remote feeling. What a cool place to spend the summer!
Such beautiful scenery!!
Depending on the trail, 1.5mi/hr can seem fast. When I did the Wonderland Trail last fall, due to how steep and long some of the climbs are, there were times that I was happy to make 1mi/hr. I'm liking the videos so far.
4:24 this tree is where I obliterated my phone 😬😂
Haha what happened with the tree? RIP to your phone!
How many pounds was his pack … your a great friend to go back down and slack pack him 👍
Great video. Gotta ask why your pack is so small yet your partner looks like a sherpa? Yeah I know hike your own hike.
