- Today we take a look around Bott Ltd Van Racking & Conversions HQ (Ashby), Ivanhoe Industrial Estate, 9 Tournament Way, Ashby-de-la-Zouch LE65 2UU.
We followed the public footpath which lead us all the way up to the security barrier.
Staff didn't like us being there and when the owner came out we decided to show him respect and move back to what he claimed to be his boundary.
Another member of staff comes in an attempt to restrict our freedom to film and fly from the public place.
The drone goes up and we are surprised at how many vehicles we see.

Imagine their reaction when they check the DJ Audit channel out and realise how much good, free publicity they could have had if they had not responded in this way.
From their point of view how many of DJ's 56k viewers are going to use their services? Still they should have behaved better.

I just can't get my head around some of these folk. And i know the company will be watching this video and the comments. So what makes you think you own land which has double yellow lines? The director knew fully well that he didn't own it or even paint those lines.
You have a woman who doesn't like being filmed and then insists you can't. But in the process proceeds to film.
What makes them think they own the airspace? Does every single bit of aircraft that goes over their premises, have to seek permission? Course not.
What makes them think they have the right whether they are recorded or not? You have no expectation of privacy in a public place.
I personally go around and film when on my bike with my Go-Pro. I can't count the number of people who end up on my recording. Should i stop and ask permission from each of them? Don't be daft.
Most of all, this company didn't display themselves to be that good.

All fantastic points. With all these videos, I'm very interested in the psychology of people and the directions that societies are heading in. From what I've seen on so many videos, the future doesn't look good...at least in the UK. There is a culture of defensiveness and fear. People are very tense, easy to offend and are very closed minded and ignorant. How does something so pervasive, ever get remedied? Well, I guess DJ Audits will have plenty of future content.
Luckily people were not paranoid in the 1890s when there were loads of films made of street scenes,factories etc including people. Now we have those movie pictures to look back on to see what things were like 130 years ago. The strange behaviour of these people is obviously a sign of these very odd times.
Exactly, all this mundane stuff will be historical records in 100 years, especially all the vaccination sites.

It's not strange to believe that it's illegal to film private property from the air. It is illegal to film private houses so it's not as strange as you're claiming. People understand that you are not allowed to enter private property without permission so it's reasonable to believe that you're not allowed to film into private property either. You would think the Police would know this and be able to tell people when complaining that no offence is taking place but the Police seem to know less about the law than everyone else. The Police just think they can say something's illegal and that makes it illegal.

Yet again a company that doesn't want to show their company in a good light and they freak out when they see a camera, however what do they do going about their life such as Shop CCTV, Dashcams, Private CCTV, Town Centres - do they freak out????? No they are just idiotic and cannot understand the realities of life.
I work in a depot across the road from the local art college, so have always had students coming up taking pictures and videos for years, even before camera phones, not once has anyone had a problem with it, because its not a threat or an unusual thing to see, some people make a such drama over a phone 😂
Here again, one would think this would be a great opportunity for the owners to showcase their business.

I understand their initial reaction but if they rolled with it and realised its the law not you thats at fault and just let you do your thing? Maybe they're rightly concerned about undue attention from potential break ins etc?
It seems like a general problem with people nowadays. Everybody is so focused on the negative. Being hostile and rude seems like common practice. I don't know if it's the state of politics or the media's constant distortion of the world we live in?
Strikes me as a miserable way to live life, if I'm honest. We only get one go at this so why not enjoy as much of it as possible?
Kevin left his premises to go out into the public and assault a member of public (Section 39 of Criminal Justice Act 1989) who was exercising the right to engage in lawful activity in a public place. Kevin needs to seek legal advice as he may shortly find the Police turning up at his place of work to arrest and charge him with assault.
@Don't Shoot If the assault is reported, then the Police are obliged to follow the law.
I like your manner/style. Polite, a touch of humour, respect and lack of provocation just for views.
DJ it would be of interest if you approached some of these companies exactly as you do but wearing a suit shirt, tie and shoes just to see if you get a different response from these people.

Another brilliant audit, I'd say this was vantastic. Excellent commentary and footage, with great interaction. DJ really seems to give the subjects an opportunity to capitalise on the situation if only they would get their house in order and listen to him. He even gives them the opportunity to redeem themselves but this is rarely utilised. As always, free publicity is missed out of the and the firm is made to look unprofessional and arrogant. 4:45 - we're gonna need a bigger sheet of paper. It's funny how all these staff, H&S managers and 'experts' always seem to become flustered and cannot come up with an 'action plan' for dealing with such a situation - they look like headless chickens. The chap at the ended seemed the most reasonable but still ended up pacing up and down with his phone, his ego not allowing him to speak to DJ. I don't think DJ's interaction could be faulted and he looked extremely reasonable. Let's hope for some wound licking, pride burying and less arrogance from this company. If someone wanted to film for 'nefarious' reasons then I'm sure they wouldn't have employed the transparent approach used here. Full marks for this excellent audit and handling - DJ is looking like an ambassador for the audit movement - what a treasure. 10/10
Enjoy your videos, you are always polite, such a shame you have to educate so many people what you can and can't do. Would be interesting to see bus or train depots maybe? I've seen some other channels and most dont helps themselves by being rude or winding up the people they are filming, keep up the good work.

Random people approach on a publicly accessible footpath , interrogating members of the public, demanding answers , but they refuse to identify , nor do the supply any proof that they are owners or employees ( not that , that would entitle them to question anyone anyway)
The owner was a very poor representative of his company , quite confrontational, poorly informed on the law, even his responsibilities to allow access to his his own land ! Sadly unprofessional .
Oh dear, another company losing out on the opportunity to rack in good publicity! Instead, the stone wall drone heads - their loss on so many fronts.

Look to me like the Right of Way, and the reading of it, Kev was Correct. Right to pass and repass for the transferor and all Others, generally this is taken as guests or contractors of the Transferor. And for proper use, normally access and maintenance of services for the connected land (Brown). Can't be setting up a BBQ in the middle of the ROW.

My response to that objection would always be well we don't always get what we want do we lol
it's more to the point that DJ clearly stated he was recording, and the guy said I don't want to be filmed, and DJ said don't come any closer then, just turn around and go back, and he still walks down to DJ, and then moans that he is being recorded, even though DJ told him a couple of times he was recording, it's laughable at some of these people.
No argument from me lol. The thing I always find most alarming about all these types of videos is that people genuinely belive that their permission is need for photographers to film or photograph them. Perhaps there should be a public info film or something cos it seems almost universal
