My people, are we soooo grateful for Leffe ?? ❤️❤️
Can I get a Hell Yeah or a Amen !! Moments like that are meant to be shared! INCREDIBLE, Stella & Leffe!
ABSOLUTELY!!! LEFFY YOU ROCK 🙌🙌🙌💗💗💗🤘🤘🤘
In 2011 on my thru-hike I tried to power up a boulder in Mahoosic Notch, slipped, and fell backwards about 6-8 feet, hitting my head on a different boulder on the way down. I did not have a concussion but got a cut under my hair. We treated it (cut away the hair, boiled some water and let it cool, adding a few drops of chlorine, and then poured it into the wound to sterilize it. Worked great! I'm glad your injury did not include falling like that!--Freethinker
😮😮😮 That notch looks very challenging! I am glad that you had Lefty with you. You surely are a tough cookie, I can tell you that. I am impressed. I am glad you only had a minor injury. Whew.
So happy it wasn't a major injury. Ice while 80 degrees out. It made me smile to see her doing this with another hiker. That area is extremely hard. Happy 👣 🌻
When you said you were going beyond Grafton Notch in the same day I said WHAAATTT?? So glad you opted to stay at Speck Pond. That is a RUGGED part of the trail. My husband and I did that portion of the AT and I remember Mahoosuc Notch and Arm as being incredibly exhausting. We stayed at Speck Pond and I couldn't have imagined going further that day. Hope your knees hold out for the remainder of the trip. I also remember the descent into Grafton Notch being killer on my knees. You are one tough cookie. Carry on Stella!!
Great job Nyx, this section is arduous by itself, let alone doing it after several months of continuous hiking. I've done this section NOBO and SOBO. The 1st time with a dog and it took 4 hours. Had to carry him most of the way. 2nd time, we had someone fall head first into a little crevasse. 😮 She was OK, thank God. Her pack actually saved her. I can say it's easier going up The Arm. Going down destroyed my knees and ankles. Glad your ok Stella. Keep your bandage clean. 😊 Thank you so much for taking us on this journey with you! Rest well dear Nyx ✌️💪
Wow!
@@sanman8359 Memories of a lifetime in that notch. 🙂
My first walk thru the Notch was in 1974. On subsequent trips I brought work gloves and long pants. You really captured the experience. 10 miles is ok in that area
1974….wow, nice memories….
Just so happy your injury is minor. But not for nothing it is nice you are not alone. Know you are so capable and just have conquered so much on your own. Sometimes we all need a friend. So glad a friend was there to help you with your injury. You guys are so close to Katahdin. You have got this !!!
That was the best footage of the notch and arm I ever saw. You really showed how tough it was. Great job. Thanks and congrats!
Wow 17 miles including the Notch and the Mahoosuc Arm, tough miles. Glad your injury wasn’t any worse !
We watch your videos since the PCT ,
CDT and now the A T. Everyday.
great video of you and Leffe hiking, bouldering through the notch. Appreciate how difficult that must have been to not only make your way through it, but also to attend to recording it on video. Wow. A great accomplishment, for sure! Well deserved rest at the shelter.
Stella, you’re doing great! And those are not pine trees, they are balsam fir trees. They smell wonderful, like Christmas.
It's awesome knowing a 82 year old man thru hiked it. Great job guys glad your injury was not to serious. Stay strong. ✌
That guy must have been made of piano wires.
82?! Wow…..
It's amazing. I didn't see a trail. Glad you all, have a sense of direction.
A little windy but great views. Mahoosuc Notch is no joke even without ice and snow. Glad you gave the camera back and forth to each other instead of trying to film and climb! I think you found the one tree branch in all of Mahoosuc Notch. LOL! Looks like a good bandage to keep it clean. Glad you stayed at Speck Pond shelter, that was a hard day.
Cheers to your amazing endeavor! This portion of your physically challenging hike is a commendable achievement👏🏻Wishing you peace, happiness and safe travels!
OH MY 😳😳😳😳 THAT WAS EPIC🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 After seeing this, I’m not sure that my 62 year old body could do it! I would love to try but would it be foolhardy? That area is so incredibly beautiful!! I’m so so glad you stopped at that pond for the night. Your body needed to recover from that incredibly hard section!!! I hope and pray your cut heals quickly without any problems!! You are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏🙏🙏
I’m 61 and live in flat Florida and I’d love to sink my teeth into that notch. Not sure I’d succeed but I sure would like to try!
I’m 60 and going to try next year. I live 15 miles from the southern terminus in Georgia.
@@nancysatori4744 I’m hoping (🤞) to hike McAfee Knob and some of the Grayson Highlands in October. Last Fall, I spent an unforgettable day on the balds of Roan Mountain. It was spectacular! Blessings to you!
I really like how you and Lefty are handing off filming. That is fun!
You did a great job getting through the notch with “only” a gash. Keep listening to your bodies and to the demands of the trail. You’ll arrive at the destination on time.
Incredible journey you two. 😊 thanks for showing us the way.
So glad you made it through that gnarly section--you two are really eating up those miles, as hard and painful as they are. I remember a dead tree branch sliced my calf on a backpack trip in WA--I had that scar for six months as a reminder.
Good call staying at Speck Pond, the Knotch and Arm combo take a lot of time and wear you out.
Good morning to you both! That's a beautiful area with amazing views and a refreshing lake ❤ That mountain sure looks challenging even for an extremely fit person. Sorry to hear about your injury but glad that you were able to get it bandaged and cleaned. Thanks Lucky for sharing your Sure footed climbing skills and ability to be an uplifting entertainer. ;) The snow and ice is something I wouldn't have expected but I guess it's a good thing that it's there. Cool and Refreshing for a little bit anyway. Just be careful that it doesn't collapse under your weight and cause injury. What a wonderful video! ❤ Happy hiking to you all. Hope you can catch Coyote soon. Be careful, stay safe and enjoy your Hike. 🙏
The quiet moments are the sweetest ain’t they? Godspeed
Mahoosuc Notch YIKES!!!! Stella, so sorry to hear about the cut on your leg.
That was really beautiful, and it looked scary. Glad that you two made it to that shelter. I could see how hard of a climb it can be. Hope your leg will be ok. And glad that you had help with that.
This looks so challenging but so fun! I appreciate the work you both put in to capture it! 😄
This was a cool notch ! I’m glad your injury wasn’t to severe. Hike on Stella and Leffe!
"This isn't the end, but I can see it from here."(Unknown). May all your trails be rocky and steep, leading to the most magnificent of views. "Improvement makes straight roads, but the crooked roads, without improvement, are roads of genius."(William Blake). Be well, stay safe. Wli Bamkanni...
Nice quotes!
@@sanman8359 Thank you. I've been sort of collecting them(quotes/sayings)for many years.
Glad you stopped when u did. Beautiful lake - glad you could enjoy. Finally caught up with you! I watch you when I hike/walk w my dog and you keep me very motivated!
Wow! That looked like so much fun. So sorry about your injury. I hope it heals quickly and doesn’t cause you too much trouble for he rest of your adventure. Thanks for filming for us. I know that wasn’t easy!
Great video! But what an extreme effort bouldering over those massive rocks. Very interesting how the snow still exists and felt good though added to the challenge. Sad about the gash, hope it heals quickly. Thanks for all of your filming effort! Beautiful! 🌸🧡
What an amazing journey you’re on thanks for sharing
Wow guy that you're hiking with is extremely good looking❣️ also essential oil of helichrysum is a great oil to always have with you especially for cuts it will disinfect and heal it very fast.
Mahoosuc Notch is no joke, congrats, you all are killing it.
Great hike, really glad you're not hurt badly.
This part of the trail is the toughest. Its not easy. But its worth it!! I saw there is a point where you crawl thru a hole in the rocks.
I’ve watched quite a few through hikers work their way through the notch but never with snow and 80 degrees. In the words of Robert Burns: “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”. Your through the worst of it now and Kahtadin is calling you.
Looks like a gret place to stop for the night. Stay safe! Dianne
Your eating up the miles lady ! Awesome job!!!
Best yet ,some of that ice never melts ,have fun in Maine ,best time to see moose early in the morning ,or evening when they feed on the ponds but they may pop up anytime!!!!
I'm glad you are ok. I had a fall on my backpacking trip last week. Darn rocks 😂
Hope you’re cut isn’t to bad so you can carry on. Stay safe and Happy Hiking ⛺️🥾💕
Nice job, great shelter along the pond to enjoy and rest
Be safe and be well and happy trekking 🤗👋✌️
Sorry you got hurt. You don't have far to go. Safe travels.
Leffe is a great assistant videographer! What is the meaning behind his trail name?
Leffe said he got his name for buying rounds of Leffe Belgian beer early on the trail.
Speck Pond looks fun for kayaking. Glad your injury wasn't severe. 🚶🏽♀️👍🏻🙂
That's crazy about the snow and ice in 80 degree weather. How is that even possible? It must get down below freezing at night, I'm thinking. Congrats on making it through Mahoosuc notch! Sorry about your injury.
Take care Stella 🫂❤️🩹
That was neat 80 degrees and ice . Bet your glad the whole trail is not like that.😊
Just when I thought you couldn't do better, you do! I don't know if you realize you made the Mahoosuc notch, cutting your leg, the bugs and snow look easy. When it is anything but easy. That being said it is good to see you are using caution and stopping early.
Now there’s that tough girl! ❤
That looks like one fun place to hike … congrats
Tough hiking for sure.
Hope your leg has healed🌲👍
Good call staying at Speck pond. Way nicer than Bald pate or Fry lean too.

Mahoosuc Notch, the longest mile on the AT.
Sometimes it is hard to understand. Around here, trails have formed over thousands of years as trade routes. First by the Kelts, afterwards by the Romans and so on. Nobody would ever go into terrain like this. Of course this is part of the myth of the AT but at the same time I guess it's not worth while. If you like to do some fun trail, go for it, unfortunately it is also dangerous, especially in rain and during the night. Stella isn't exactly doing here first overnighter I guess by now she has accumulated more than 5000 miles of experience but even as an accomplished hiker you can easily get injured. So what is the point? In this notch they even guide you through small cages. At least last year many hikers just went around these obstacles. Speck Pond shelter is basically new and built extremely careful. Go Stella, speedy recovery.
What you mean to say is it's not worthwhile to you, which is an OK statement.. Not to condescend, it's not worthwhile to me either. The purpose of trade routes is, of course, for trade and those follow the easiest routes. One purpose of the AT is to take you to great views which probably is the last thing a Roman engineer would think about unless for a military observation point. Two different purposes. I guess the bottom line here is the line about hiking your own hike. And that means everybody: no AT though-hiker should condescend on someone who enjoys an ancient road past Walnut trees down to equally ancient 1000 year old church and then into town for a Gelato. You figure out what you're about and do what's right for you. I do day hikes on the AT, would consider doing the 9 mile Franconia loop and that would very much satisfy my aspirations for the AT in NH living in my own skin.
Yes, any adventure for that matter is hard to understand. Isn’t that actually the point? To have the courage to do something beyond the stale cage of “understanding”?
Your knees are a magnet for trouble … be careful. These miles coming up will be the most challenging
I went through the Notch with no snow and it looks like you had it harder. I was able to do it in under an hour I believe.
Congrats! No compression sleeve for your knees...but you probably did ice them - and all at 80°
good luck! thats an awesome area. how are you going to feel when you finish??? sailor jack
She is feeling great…..👏
How do you know where the trail is on the boulders? Is it marked? Id definitely need another person to travel with through this area. It looks dangerous.
❤😊❤😊
Stella, Hope your knees are feeling better, but if not, are you aware that the essential oil, Frankincense, can dramatically ease the pain and swelling?Didn’t know if you knew about this holistic approach or not. Love your vlog! You’re doing it, Stella!! 🌸
I’m sure you get tons of questions but how heavy is your back with water? Planning on section hikes and want an estimate.
You were very careful and still cut yourself. A little bad luck, you gave yourself first aid.Hope it heals and you can continue.
You are a hiking machine.
Tell Leffe I caught his 2 LIKES😂
Mahoosic Notch - 'the trails' longest mile' . . . believe it. Next, the up, Old Spec . . . 🥵
If a "PUD" is a Pointless Up and Down, then the ascent of the Arm was a PUUUUU!
I think Notches come with Scratches, it's Par for the Course!
Triple antibiotic salve that Cut!
I think at the end of any short hike for me I'd be all scratched up, bruised etc.....
At least the gash is close to the knee, so now the fluid from the swollen knee can escape through the gash…😀I'm not a medical specialist but at least that's my theory…by the time you hit Mount K ↗your knee should have normalized😀
Do not go in open water with that open sore!
You said you want white male hiker flashlight 🔦 in your water bottle holder
you pervy guy you!
Short of breath before you start the incline? Why are you still have breathing problems?? 😮? Is it a habit, just not breathing deep!
Stella is a pretty petite person; I think it may be lung capacity. But it is very hard to walk and speak as she does-singers train on treadmills to be able to move and sing, and are taught a certain diaphragmatic breathing she may not know, and if she did, it may or may not make a difference based on her lung capacity🙏💙
@@jessiefalkenhagen3743 good poinnt!
I think she is 5-10. Not petit
@@rlambertlts1 I’ve met her …. she’s built like a fine tuned warrior. Tough as nails.
Congratulations! I loved following your journey, thanks for inspiring us
