So happy for them both. I will miss seeing stella every morning. I went to Roan mountain the other day and hiked a part of the appalachian trail. I thought of every thru hiker I have watched and smiled knowing they walked these very steps of the trail. Sharing their journey inspires many people 🌻👣
Hope the rhodies were showing out when you were at the Roans. I hope to drive up next Tuesday.
@deborahchadwick210 there was only one or 2 bushes left but I got to see all the fallen petals. I am sure that place was like a zoo when they were blooming. I went early and only saw one couple. When I was finishing up the trail tons of people were just starting. If you do not like crowds go early. I also went on Tuesday so not as crowded. It's a beautiful park.👣
I hiked the 3 balds last Fall on a spectacular cloudless day. A day I’ll never forget. I’m definitely inspired by AT hikers (at age 61) to get outside and feel the joy!

Amazing accomplishment!! What is a nobo and a flipflop hiker? I need a glossary lol!
NOBO = "NOrthBOund" ie Springer to Katahdin, a flip-flop is someone who is doing the whole trail but not continuously in one direction, eg, I *think* Leffe hiked from Harpers Ferry to Katahdin and then could go back to Harpers Ferry and then hike to Spring ostensibly to avoid bubbles. One can choose any point to do the flip-flop though.

Leffe started in Georgia but had several commitments which took him off trail. I think he has from Virginia to part of Pennsylvania to complete. Stella has certainly taught him how to get the miles in!
What about a Yoyo Stella? Timing seems perfect for that...
She could, couldn't she?, just as the SOBO are kicking off but...I suspect that will be a big No! and by the way, there are pictures of guys wading chest deep in water on the trail, there's been that much rain.

If Stella had to use her tarp to camp in the 100 MW she would have been eaten alive. Stella deserves a lot of credit, but Leffe also shares in her success. Leffe’s friend John also rocks!

Hi...gonna line up to congratulate you...decades ago I asked my manager if I could have 6 months off to hike what you have done, he said sure, but no job waiting for me😢 We live all of 2 miles from the AT, often hike locally in northwest Jersey, had we found out about you earlier my wife could have picked you up while I prepared whatever you liked to eat, got a spare room too ... instead of getting up at 430ish to break camp you coulda slept in....till 530 😁....much thanks for hours of watching you, get home safe!!!😊

What a great Day-1 video. The adventure is coming to an end….thank you for taking us along. You both are a great inspiration to folks like us. Last Th I decided to get off the couch and summited MtW via the Ammonoosuc ravine trail - walked the 1.4m section of the AT after the LoC hut. Really want to try the whole thing, bugs and all, after watching the 2 of you.

George, I love your UA-cam bio. I have 3 daughters and 3 sons. They’re all married so have 3 DIL. Also 8 gkids so I hope someone hikes the AT someday.
Leffe does have to go back to work. He is a Merchant Marine and will be at sea about 4 months and then plans to finish the AT on his return.

What's with the "2nd female" nonsense - a thru-hike is a journey, not a race...except for certain hikers, ill-equipped with tarps, fixated on the next hostel to win "1st place-most expensive thru-hikes in history." Good thing a man was around...the female co-dependency on Leffee was irksome. Betting he and Ben could swap stories.

Yeah, that “2nd female” comment is weird and says a lot about Stella’s minions
Does that mean she’s more accomplished than the 3rd female to finish but not as accomplished as the 1st female?
Does that mean all the hikers who finish after her are inferior?
If you were to research stats for completing the AT, fastest time etc. they are divided up into categories. Just like the NYC and Boston marathons, Ironman races, Olympics ETC. The thruhike for all the long trails is an athletic endeavor, and statistics/data are important to many of them. Some are looking to beat their last records, to make the most miles/day, all kinds of records to best.
Maybe you haven’t run in s marathon? If yes, how were your results listed in the news?
The AT is what you want to make of it and certainly Stella was on the competitive side of things. I like people that do things along the way, maybe downhill bike on the Virginia Creeper Trail, visit NYC, identify - have your followers identify - plants and birds and rocks. If you do too much of that though, you'll never make it (unless you have lots of time...) There are trade-offs for sure.
@@TheJhtlag have I asked you if you watch any of the CDT/PCT hikes this year? I have some that so like. I also like First Church of the Masochist. He and his partner are canoeing source to sea the Mississippi. Yes, the plants and animals along the hike are my favorite part. Why I watch the videos. PCT gorgeous this year, CDT still snowy.
