Iv watched many vids on how to make a bench, this is by far the best ,thanks bru, im definitely making myself one.
Love the feedback bro! I'm glad you like it😊 If you like, feel free to share it on a story on instagram and I will re-post it! @mattnunan😁
Amazing.. thank you for sharing, Matt. I hope I can try to make this next weekend!!
Greetings from Indonesia ✌
All the best, I hope it goes well for you. Love your profile pic!😻
Fukc it, I'm buying.
Next video: finding the weight limit of my new adjustable bench :)
Hahahahaha I've had a lot of weight on there already😁
@@MattLees-Nunan What's the max you've had on it?
@@fightermma 120kg😊
you can always replace the wooden back support with some metal to strengthen it.
That's neat - impossible to buy gym equipment these days, everywhere sold out due to gyms closing over Covid... and places that do have some for sale are selling at prices you'd expect for gold. Going to build my own few bits, this is a great place to start!
Hopefully this video helps you out mate. Let me know how you go!!😊 @mattnunan
Thank you Matt ! Simple is genius. I will try to repeat !
That's great to hear! I hope it goes well😊
Can you do a DIY punching bag framing
Hmmm.... I will consider it. Any ideas on how it could be done?

this is a great design, nice and simple. i found my plans! thank you!!!
Woohhoo! Glad you like it. Can't wait to hear how you go😍
Amazing😍
1150 mm is that like 1 meter 15 cm and 300 mm is 30 cm?
That is correct😊
👌👍👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hello, ı want to draw on solidworks and have it done by the furniture maker.could you draw roughly and give the part sizes hole distances?
Plz tell the distance between these slots
It really is up to you depending on what angles you prefer!
Me gustaria q lo dijeran en es pañol traducirlo porfavor gracias
Some of the material uou mentioned is below. I am assuming those measurements are after you have cut them. My question is what do I go into the store and buy? Could you write up the uncut measurements of the woods you bought please?
1 x 1150mm (90mm x 90mm dressed pine) Upper platform bench frame.
▪︎4 x 300mm (90mm x 90mm dressed pine) Legs and leg supports.
▪︎2 x 760mm (40mm x 40mm dressed pine) Seat frame

▪︎1 x 300mm x 350mm (19mm mdf panel) 1 x 300mm x 860mm. Seat panels.
I would suggest taking that list in and asking at the store what they suggest:)
😊❤😊
Maybe as a new video you can turn this very bench into a bench that also has a decline on it. Would be easy work for you and not so time consuming only requiring a few adjustments.
Great idea!😊
Mantaaappp👍🏻👍🏻
Hi How many cm is the Length, Width, Height?
Hi! If you turn the video to closed caption mode it will being up the measurements in mm which you can convert. I've also included the measurements of pieces in the description😊
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
как раз то, что я искал) сегодня же сделаю себе такую) Спасибо большое🤝
Красавчик!!! Сделаю себе такую же! Спасибо!
$60 seems like a lot for a DIY one.
Yeah, quite possibly... I'm also building equipment for the satisfaction of creating something! If price is an issue, then you could try building from lower grade materials or sourcing a cheap commercial brand👍
So good! Thanks I will make this
Excelente trabajo me podrías regalar las medidas a centímetros
Nice, simple and well explained. Thanks for shearing.
You're welcome. Thank you😊
Looks great but couldn’t risk it might collapse.
Risk it for the biscuit?🫓
Hi did u end up making some adjustments for the seat? Or did u just leave it? Coz when doing exercises at an incline angle, the body would move forward a bit and if the seat was just flat, your body would slide along the seat. Thank you for this video btw, you helped me build an incline bench just like this one and your measurements were perfect so thank you
Hi mate, no it's fine to leave the seat how it is. Good question though👍
@@MattLees-Nunan yea, you'd might want the small part inclined as well.
Hey Matt. I'm buying the wood this week. How strong is this bench. It looks very sturdy. Im 320lbs and will be benching 140KG on it. Would this bench be strong enough?
I was thinking if not that I would create braces inbetween the framework of the top part of the bench.
I would say it's strong enough. There's a section on my instagram in my stories that has a subscriber loading 120kgs on it!
Is the 500mm x 10mm rod that measurement after you cut it? I take it not. What Length Rod do you recommend buying?
Usually the rod comes in lengths of 1 metre😊
Also at 2:01 is that rod you have cut that you are sliding into the wood and attaching bolts too. Looks like tiny pieces you cut. What measurements?
They are 75mm:)
vertical video.ah nice
I wish I had better videography skills☺️
@@MattLees-Nunan I bet you have now.
Btw nice video.
excellent video, and an excellent professional in carpentry, I'm a carpenter and I'm from Brazil starting to set up my own home gym you helped a lot the fastest efficient stable and effective incline bench on UA-cam, I made mine from any wood and used everything old wood screws old and I made improvised
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so happy to hear you're making your own equipment!
I love it❤
nice work men I do other one like you've did..
can I ask what are the angle that you cut to make it incline? thanks 😊😊
Hmmm🤔...so you shouldn't need to cut any angles.
Hello just a making too bench I need to advice em how is calling the red surfer you are fixing on bench please
Hi it's a yoga mat and it's installed with double sided tape👍

Hi! So the seat panel sizes will be in the description:)
@@MattLees-Nunanhi ser ehat is the size of washer?
The size of the washer should be just big enough to fit over the bolt thread
@@MattLees-Nunan the size of Threaded Rod Is 1/2 ??

I really like your video ... Is there a version in feet & inches of this weight bench??? thanks John
Hi John, I'm glad to hear you like it! Unfortunately there isn't feet and inches available😬
Okay thanks , I'll look for another video that has inches &feet
I made one exactly like yours but in a very difficult way a day ago. Ooooops! It was this easy.
Glad to hear you made one still. Nice work!🤘

Alguien tiene las medidas de de la madera como las de los cortes
Hola! Hay medidas en la descripción. Avísame si tenga preguntas:)
Friend, could you leave the measurements of the designs of the artisan machines in writing, since I speak in Spanish and I don't understand what it says, if you leave me the measurements in writing I can translate it. I would appreciate it, your work is very good
No hay problema hermano! Voy a hacerlo mañana😁👌
thanks brother, I'll be attentive waiting, Greetings machine
Hola my friend! Sorry for the delay. Materials are up. Please let me know if you have any questions! Good luck brother!
Just beautfuil!!!... I will do it!!!
I've got a great idea for s video. You could make a video loading the bench up in incline position with weight to see how much it can take before breaking. However you'd be put of a bench lol.
If you do this I would suggest angling the bench so weight would go flat on top of the bench when it is on an incline.
Great idea!
Someone kind of already did it here but would still be cool to see it's breaking point:

To be honest not entirely sure but I lifted 100kg on incline bench with it the other day😊

it looks like it doesn't completely go flat. 0:12
Not 100% but pretty close😊
@@MattLees-Nunan looks like to me it can be possible. but why is it like that?
1:39 what's that tool called that holds the wood together?
That's a G-clamp😊
@@MattLees-Nunan Appreciate it 👊🏽.

What’s the measurements
Hi mate, all measurements should be in the description:)
Hi I love the video, would you say I need power tools to make this or would I be able to just use hand tools?
Hi! Thank you so much😊 Hand tools like handsaw, hacksaw, hammer, chisel, wrench is all you need but you will need a drill as the only power tool😁
How much weight can the bench itself handle? I myself weight 108kg, and using two 35Kg's in each hand can stack up pretty fast on wood.
I probably wouldn't go much heavier than that but who knows!
DevineGamingTV Here is a video of of someone loading 160KG on this bench the incline position:

How many inches gap for the back support?
It all depends on what is most comfortable for your back and what exercises you want to do😊
Thanks bro last question is i buy from the only 3/8" inches threaded is it enough? Didn't see it yet it's still coming thanks for answering this question though
@@nilmarpatagoc8760 Yes! That is fine. That's what I used😊
Do you know what width the 150mm screws are?
5mm thick😊
@@MattLees-Nunan thanks. what size of drill bit to cut the hole for the threaded rod?
11mm bro
@@MattLees-Nunan you'd think but Ive read since to use same size, ie 10mm? These bits get pricey.
Yes, you're right. They can be expensive. How about using a 10mm bit and just making the hole just a bit bigger by moving the drill around while you're drilling?😊
Did this with metal 🔥

Thanks man! That means a lot, glad you liked it😊
MattNunan yea for sure bro
After months and months of research I'm finally getting ready to buy equipment. Matt what work do you do? Are you a builder? You seem like a real pro handling those tools.
What are those googles called that welders use to prevent sparks from flying in to their eyes? Lol I'm a bit too scared to go maskless like you cutting steal. You're a savage. In good way I mean.
Awesome to hear bro. I look forward to seeing how it ends up! Yeah safety glasses/goggles are important. Definitely recommend them!
I am having such a hard time figuring how to create an adjustable decline and incline bench that can support my 144.2KG (317lbs) weight. I'll also be bench pressing 140/150kg.
Any tips? Bro this is really overheating my brain as I'm a total newbie when it comes to wood work .
Oh, so you need a video on how to make a decline bench?
@@MattLees-Nunan You Don't have to make a video if it's too much hassle but if it isn't a bother sure a video would be great. However not just a decline bench
It has to be an adjustable bench that goes incline, flat and decline.
The problem I am having is that I need it to be strong. I was thinking about doubling the wood both for the frame and the thinner long bars of wood where the metal rod is inserted into which helps to adjust the bench.
And if you are going to make one I would suggest putting some handles on the bottom of the bench so that when you put the bench in decline to do leg curls you have something to grab onto when you do leg curls. Lying leg curls are supposed to be done at a decline creating a pivot in the hips because this will help give a better contraction, the motion is easier to preform at this angle and you can use more weight. The flat leg press doesn't allow you to do this and is obsolete. That's why you never see a flat leg curl machine in the majority of gyms today.
@@MattLees-Nunan Lol bro I'm creating a wood horse. All of this is very new to me so I get frustrated at times trying to figure out what to do. Hope you and your family are doing well.
@@fightermma You're doing a great job bro! Stepping out of the comfort zone can be challenging but rewarding😊
@@MattLees-Nunan Did you decide to make the adjustable decline/incline bench?
Felicidades Muy buen trabajo solo falta las medidas de las maderas
Muchas Gracias Jose. Has liedo materiales en la descripción?🤔
Si ya lo he leído gracia👍 are el mío así gracias matt
@@joseamaya923 Bueno y buenas suerte campéon!
En el minuto 1:25 que medida dejaste allí amigo?
looks quite interesting :) but still seems a bit unstable. What do you think? I'm doing flat bench with 120-130kg + my own weight of about 90. Will it cause problems? of course it wont brake, but I think you know what I want to ask. thanks
Will definitely hold. Not a problem there at all. If you check out my insta stories under "IsoGym" you will see a fellow subscriber who loaded it up on the incline setting! This will give you some reassurance😁
@@MattLees-Nunan I cannot see because of no insta account... But I still trust you in what you wrote :) nevertheless thinking about building my own but as steel construction, also drawed and built my own half rack made of steel, but steel is always much more work as wood, and no space for mistakes...
That's great to Lukas! Good luck with the construction and let me know if you need anymore assistance!
Why did you choose to use a yoga mat instead of foam and vinyl for the padding like others have done? Also why no Simpson strong ties? Were these choices to do with price/convenience?
Not a jibe just curious my friend.
Hahaha I love the questions!😍 Exactly, it comes down to price and what the average person is capable of achieving with limited skills, knowledge or financial stability. My channel is about giving people opportunity to have a go! I liked how you said why not use vinyl or foam like everyone else? Well...I'm not like everyone else😁👊
@@MattLees-Nunan How foes it feel just using a yoga Matt?
I've got some spare laminate kitchen flooring. I was thinking of buying foam and then wrapping that laminate around it. Would that work or would the laminate material not be stretchable enough to wrap around the foam?
@@MattLees-Nunan Is there anyway we can have an audio talk? When I'm crafting these things it would be nice to have someone experienced to talk to about any problems I may experience.
@@fightermma You could always try it and see😊
@@fightermma using a thick yoga mat is sufficient though! It's surprisingly very comfortable and like $5 -$8😁
