Undeniably would’ve done that just to make sure Micah contracted TB, but would definitely consider doing it to Herr Strauss as well. Only because it was him who sent Arthur to get the payment, even if it was unintentional.
If this were to happen at some point prior to RDR1, I’d imagine it would be like this. I don’t think Dutch would attempt to apologize at Arthur’s grave, nor do I think he would try to justify his actions to a ghost that saw Dutch for who he was. I believe Dutch would simply stare at the grave and contemplate the sad reality that everything his did-everything he represented-was meaningless and he’s ultimately lost. He lost Arthur, lost Hosea, lost his gang, lost his dreams, even lost himself. I don’t think Dutch has the character to ever admit that fact to himself, but if he were to visit Arthur’s grave it would give him pause to reflect. But that’s all it would be, a pause. Dutch would eventually walk away from the grave of his son and not look back continuing down his own path of self-destruction.
I think the closest he could admit it was at his death. He put his gun away, and accepted his demise, all to do his best attempt (didn’t say good attempt, just his best) to warn John, that as soon as he was dead, the wolves would be looking for new meat. Likely would be his meat. That John needed to be ready for when that happened. John was so hurt though, from the destruction that Dutch’s ‘plans’ had caused, he didn’t heed his warnings. He went back, and chose to believe he was safe. We all know how that ended.

I remember a random chitchat with Tilly in camp where Tilly wanted to poison Miss Grimshaw because of her rules, but Susan was doing this to keep everyone safe and maintain cohesion, and I almost dropped a tear when Susan was the first to brave the Jackson brothers to save Tilly. Truly a great woman. Tilly was so thankful for Susan, I guess she regretted wanting to kill Susan. RIP Susan Grimshaw.
@father3dollarbill They didn't have time if anyone moved they would cause a shootout in the gang, and then the pinkertons start coming after them. Plus at this point Dutch is with Micah.
I have a theory about Dutch being with Micah at the end. I think Dutch only joined with Micah recently, and only to kill Micah. It explains why Dutch says "Same as you" to John when John asks why Dutch is there. It also explains why Micah says "All manner of folk paying social calls," followed by Dutch. Makes more sense when you think about how Dutch ran away from Micah after Arthur dies, which shows that Dutch and Micah weren't together during the time jump before the epilogue.
It just made me realize how heart breaking it would’ve been if the gang was all together near the end and went their separate ways, John is forced to work for the Pinkertons and have to apprehend his former gang, would’ve hurt if he went after the ones who died Arthur, Hosea, Lenny and etc.
The Pinkertons only found John because he went after Micah to avenge Arthur, but if the others had been alive that probably wouldn't have happened, and John wouldn't have had to hunt down anyone.
I have played this game MANY MANY times and after the first time I could never finish the ending. Just couldn’t handle watching him die. The hero isn’t suppose to die !! Still the most realistic game I have yet to play. Heart touching.
Exactly, I'm the same way. I got spoiled by the ending the first time I play it when I reached chapter 6 nearing the ending and after that I just kept playing whatever activities through chapter 4 where the gang are happy and together. Can't handle seeing the gang fall apart and my hero dying. This game hits hard to the heart.
Same here! That scene where he says goodbye to the ladies and Arthur's song plays...That just breaks my heart! Best, most saddest end to a character ever.
Well I love RDR because there are no heroes, Arthur was good but not a hero, not even John, they're killers and thieves. That's not something a hero would do so I like to think of them as anti heroes. Like Hosea said in a camp event "we're good people doing bad stuff"
i just finished playing RDR2 and sadly i was very disappointed with the ending of this game! I found the first 4 chapters sensational! then from the 5th chapter onwards I totally lost interest. I wanted to kill Dutch from the beginning. insufferable and obnoxious character! unfortunately in the end Dutch survives!
The bit that always gets me is the look of pure regret and genuine sadness on Dutch's face as he stops Arthur from shooting micah which shows the realization of who his son really is.
Imagine if Dutch's death scene in the first game happened on the cliff where Arthur is buried. I know that Arthur wasn't thought of in RDR1, but just imagine how cool it would be. Dutch jumps off the cliff, right beside his old "friend" Arthur...
Not seen this clip in a while but the “what are you doing here Dutch/same as you I suppose“ now looks very different to me. Dutch is telling John he’s here to kill Micah.
Thats right he was there to kill Micah. "Dutch and i, Teaming up once more" Also suggests Dutch had tracked him down abit prior to this cutscene having not seen him since Arthurs death. I guess Dutch needed time to come to terms with his failure
@@insomecc I read a theory somewhere that maybe Micah was the first to be hired by the government to try and take down the gang before John. In the end credits scene Agent Ross is seen visiting the site of Micah's death
I like to imagine before the events of the first Red Dead game Dutch found where Arthur was buried and paid him a visit and told him how he was sorry for what he had done because Arthur was right about everything
I still don’t understand why Dutch still sided with Micah after he shot ms Grimshaw in front of all of them, like in that moment it wasn’t Arthur vs Micah he had to side for, it was Arthur, and Grimshaw two people he’d known for years, the OG’s, two out of 5 of the original bunch (Dutch, Hosea, Arthur, John, Grimshaw) VS. Micah, joe and cleet, 2 of which he’d known only a few weeks, if at all actually got to KNOW, and Micah who he’d only known a few months, and here he just gutshot one of dutches oldest friends who might I add Dutch had no prior worries of loyalty over, not like he felt for Arthur because where as Arthur questioned Dutch’s actions (albeit warranted) ms Grimshaw hadn’t even once, and yet tf, he didn’t even look to help her, he just let her writhe on the ground till she died.
i always felt ms grimshaw’s death was just glossed over lol, i understand why Arthur didn’t react because he had to keep his eyes on micah, but nonetheless it didn’t seem like it bothered anyone :/
@@hue59 they were in conflict. Arthur just turned against the gang, John revealed he was alive, the Pinkertons invaded the camp, and before they could process it they were chased up a mountain where Arthur's horse died and John had to leave for his family while Micah fought Arthur lower on the mountain while Arthur was sick and then Dutch came up there so Arthur could make his final statement to Dutch before dying. There wasn't much time to grieve over Grimshaw. And though she did care about them, she would often to act very mean to the certain portion of the gang so they might not like her as much as the orignal ones of the gang who had died so it makes sense why it was glossed. Plus it has been a few years since it happened.
That's because Dutch doesn't give a shit to anyone but himself. All the "things he have done" was to benefit himself and not the others. That's why he didn't react to any of that deaths
Dutch's voice actor is actually incredible. Everyone in these games did an amazing job but something about the emotion in Dutch's voice gets me every time.
Man, this made me cry. I know the relationship between Dutch and Arthur wasn’t perfect, but it felt so real to me. Even in that final moment at the top of the cliff, it felt genuine. Amongst all the things that went down during the final chapter, watching Dutch and Arthur fall apart was the most painful of them all.

At 0:24 Micah unfastens his gun strap to fire. And Dutch says He's there for the same reason as them, but Micah didn't notice. They are their to kill Micah. So that means he's bidding his time for the opportunity which they provided.
I went back to colter (the snow gang camp) as John and I heard John say"now you can see what's left of me" that scared the crap out of me plus I was playing at night
what a lot of people failed to realize was that dutch while on the cliff realized his wrong doings and walked away, he only joined back with micah to get the gold or kill micah. or maybe even both
I think a part of Dutch really did see Arthur and John as family, and Micah did what he did best, manipulate people. Dutch was manipulated, along with people doubting him, and the pain of all of their problems. Dutch DID care for John and Arthur, but his trust was broken by Micah, plus Arthur’s doubts.
Honestly you could add Javier to that list. The game showed he did care about John, Arthur and the others. Unfortunately he choose his loyalty to dutch
I liked Kieran, Jack, and Uncle too. Uncle might’ve been a bit lazy but he cared enough to die protecting John’s family, even with his debilitating condition holding him back. Plus he’s got the best stories. Maybe Dutch as well, prior to Micah joining. The dialogue gave reason to believe that Micah was like his corrupt Jimmony Cricket.
oh you're so talented. All those flashbacks Dutch has looking over Arthur's grave were so heartbreaking. No wonder Dutch almost got a cancer just thinking about all the failures he made over the years, including losing Arthur as arguably the biggest. Great video and keep them coming!
Damn this breaks my heart, truly does, well done, the writers did a good job. Also the person who edited this, thank you so much because you've done a fantastic job.
Dutch being on the mountain was one of the few major plot points i didnt know about. It scared the hell out of me, which really shows how great the storytelling is.
Surprisingly I only teared up when he died but when a side mission character died ( Hamish Sinclair) I cried just because of how he died and he was really cool
part of being a great general and leader is the ability to put your ego aside and take the advice of your most trusted captains and advisors. dutch was unable to do that, and on several occasions could have escaped, but it costs everyone their life.
I firmly believe that Dutch was scared of failiure which is the reason why Dutch was aginst Arthur because he was doubting him amd siding with him would be him admitting that hes wrong and he doesnt want that so he sides with Micah who supportes his ideas. I also believe that he knew that Arthur wasnt the Rat and knew it was Micah but he was to ashamed to admit it
Hosea's death is what broke Dutch and finding out Arthur was sick made him worse you can see a picture of all 3 of them when they were young together at Arthurs tent they were closest to him
Dutch is a confused man. I trusted long ago because he was a best leader in the gang, cares about his family, and never leaves anyone behind. But that all change in the end, when he sided with Micha. Trust must be earned, but Dutch lost it because his mentality wasn't right, and look what he did, he lost few of his close friends, a family, a son that he left him for dead, and letting Arthur die.
Anyone else notice how similar RDR2’s story is to Berserk. Dutch is like Griffith taking in all those who were lost and Arthur is like Guts going through the ultimate betrayal as he watched all his friends he knew for so long get thrown away like trash. Then John is sorta like the vengeful version of Guts in RDR1, hunting down the man who ruined his life and so many others.
Dutch for me is such a tragic character, after everything he keep on fighting because he had no other reason to live. He knew, at the cost of losing everything, he can't change the system
If you think about it, Dutch is responsible for Arthur’s death. Dutch welcomed Strauss and relocated the gang to Horseshoe Overlook, near Valentine. That’s where Strauss lent money to Mr. Thomas Downes, Strauss had Arthur collect all his due payments and lent money from his clients, if Dutch had relocated further away or not welcomed new gang members, then Arthur would’ve never had to collect Mr. Downes’ debt in ‘Money Lending And Other Sins’ therefore would’ve never contracted Tuberculosis off of Thomas. And also would have never died. Dutch could’ve prevented several other gang members deaths, like not becoming deputies in Rhodes, Sean would’ve lived, not decided to rob Saint Denis after several already unsuccessful robberies in recent time, Hosea and Lenny would’ve lived. If he hadn’t done any of that, it would’ve been a lot different. Someone said they met Seans voice actor and he told them he picked Arthur 101%, Swanson, Trelawny, Sean, Hosea, Lenny, Ms Grimshaw, Karen, Mary Beth, Tilly, Abigail and John all chose Arthur, that would’ve surely outnumbered the rest. But that would certainly be a completely different story.
Im watching this walkthrough game with my 16 year old autistic son, who loves this game and had to convince me to watch it, now here i am, looking for the end results bc i cant wait to see it. Arthur was the best protagonist I've seen!
(Continuity wise) I love how Dutch makes no mention of Arthur or Hosea in RDR1, it shows how they were just faded memories to him at that point by 1911. He simply chose to forget his old gang.
I can't believe all the characters who died were the characters I liked 😭. We all know if they were still alive they would of took Arthur side and dutch would of been outnumbered
I sometimes dream that, what if Dutch camped the same place where Arthur died and when John chase him they went the same place where Arthur died or where he buried. But I think that will never happened because John wants to forget the past and Dutch went crazy and the biggest thing that made him crazier is because of Arthur and Hosea and specially Arthur I think
"I gave you all I had" Even when Dutch left him at the oil fields. Arthur stayed with Dutch at the end of his living minutes. He was always loyal. I think Dutch in the end knew that and hence shot Micah
Pretty sure the character wouldn't have payed Arthur a visit, He got completely lost in the end. He had the guts of leaving him dying after saying "I gave you all I had", There was no heart in him, just pride and selfishness...
Great video! I still get sad when I think about Arthur’s painful life, what he had to go thru and his miserable death. This is by far my favorite game and no other game or character will ever top this.

Well put

They could totally do it, base it on how the gang got together and the path that led them to leaving Blackwater...It would allow them to add a few more characters that we didnt meet because they died running to the mountains as well as expound on Aurthurs past. The game could be great....We all know how it ends....The Pinkerstons chasing them as they ride hard out of town, with the mountains in the background....The fun part would be filling in the middle as you would pretty much have a blank sheet of paper

@@unstablenecrophage278 as would I, they need to make that game. I mean why wouldn't you? That mixed with the expansion of all the weapons and online play. One thing I would do is have a couple game modes where you could play as Arthur, Dutch, Charles or John and obviously that would change the side missions for each individual player because their lives are different but the main game missions would be the same. It gives you playability over and over again.
Me father was ill with cancer. I stood by his side and said to him, “you gave me all you had, you did.” He replied, “yup yup” then he took his last breath. There’s a bit of Arthur in all of us I guess. I just hope I made him proud.

I’m sad that Lenny died but I’m also happy he didn’t have to experience Arthur’s death, Lenny and Arthur was best buds and it probably would’ve been the worst for Lenny.
The moment Arthur said to Dutch "I gave you all I had, I really did", that line broke my heart because he had done so much for him. Done crazy things. Killed a lot of people. Susan Grimshaw is an incredible woman.
Yeah and rockstar didn't give her a logical death. No one batted an eye when she got shot. R* made many mistakes.
"No. YOU be quiet, Mr. BELL."
Still gives me chills. Rest in peace, Ms. Grimshaw.
True
@Schoby Arthur would’ve killed John for being a rat
@@Dan-sc5jj John was never a rat lmao
The Pinkertons only found John because he went after Micah to avenge Arthur, but if the others had been alive that probably wouldn't have happened, and John wouldn't have had to hunt down anyone.
@@cm-nk4li he wasn’t by choice. But he had to kill former gang members and in the end he became a rat and died a tied up loose end for the bureau

In this case you should never watch "The Great Silence", great movie though and imo also an inspiration for RDR2 in some way
Well I love RDR because there are no heroes, Arthur was good but not a hero, not even John, they're killers and thieves.
Or John shoots him and he falls right near Arthur
Or the cliff where Arthur died

I suspect that Dutch would have sided with Arthur or even with no one, but he didn't just because John appeared at the critical moment.
@@channel45853 true, guess there was just too much happening

It was like a father son / brothers relation

Dutch: “you betrayed me”
No one betrayed you, Dutch!!! It is you who betrayed yourself and the rest of the gang.
At 0:24 Micah unfastens his gun strap to fire. And Dutch says He's there for the same reason as them, but Micah didn't notice. They are their to kill Micah. So that means he's bidding his time for the opportunity which they provided.
Arthur is one of the most impactful characters of all time. They hit it out of the park with John in RDR and did the impossible again with Arthur.
I went back to colter (the snow gang camp) as John and I heard John say"now you can see what's left of me" that scared the crap out of me plus I was playing at night
Yup, you’ll hear different lines from each of the old camps.
what a lot of people failed to realize was that dutch while on the cliff realized his wrong doings and walked away, he only joined back with micah to get the gold or kill micah. or maybe even both
Dutch still had the count after 12 years
I think a part of Dutch really did see Arthur and John as family, and Micah did what he did best, manipulate people. Dutch was manipulated, along with people doubting him, and the pain of all of their problems. Dutch DID care for John and Arthur, but his trust was broken by Micah, plus Arthur’s doubts.
If the gang was just: Hosea, Arthur, Charles, John, Lenny, Sean, Pearson, and the girls, things would have been completely different.
@@tomgarnoti5609 uncle is not lazy. He's old
It wouldn't be a gang without Dutch. He was a leader for a reason after all.

Honestly this is the most perfect video of Dutch's flashback yet. And I also wonder if Dutch knows where Arthur is buried at.
Nice great work, I love the rdr 1 soundtrack choice.

Truly amazing character. He’s so real
part of being a great general and leader is the ability to put your ego aside and take the advice of your most trusted captains and advisors. dutch was unable to do that, and on several occasions could have escaped, but it costs everyone their life.
I firmly believe that Dutch was scared of failiure which is the reason why Dutch was aginst Arthur because he was doubting him amd siding with him would be him admitting that hes wrong and he doesnt want that so he sides with Micah who supportes his ideas. I also believe that he knew that Arthur wasnt the Rat and knew it was Micah but he was to ashamed to admit it
Never have I been so invested in a game like I was playing the RDR2 Story. There are no words to describe how well made everything on this game is.
Fo real bro
Hosea's death is what broke Dutch and finding out Arthur was sick made him worse you can see a picture of all 3 of them when they were young together at Arthurs tent they were closest to him
The way Arthur is not mentioned in the first game kinda makes it a bit hollow, after watching this, it really ties it all in. Great video.
Arthur Morgan is the biggest legend in RDR. One
Of the best characters in gaming history ever actually.
lies we all know the biggest legend is told by the NPC's and that is Red Harlow from Red Dead Revolver 🤣
Love when Dutch says to John that he is here to do the same thing he is and Mikah thinks he means joining up so he offers John to join them.
0:32 is my dad coming back home when he figures out I win the lottery.
You should do one where 1911 Dutch visits Hoseas grave and Lenny's since it's next to his
Is cool as well
Dutch for me is such a tragic character, after everything he keep on fighting because he had no other reason to live. He knew, at the cost of losing everything, he can't change the system
Dutch should’ve listened to hosea in chapter 1 and non of this would have happened

I legit cried the moments leading up to Arthur’s death. You can see it in his face that he knew he was about to die
(Continuity wise) I love how Dutch makes no mention of Arthur or Hosea in RDR1, it shows how they were just faded memories to him at that point by 1911. He simply chose to forget his old gang.

The graphics here look just like rdr2. Rdr1 was way ahead of its time
Every time I visit his grave I almost cry
I can't believe all the characters who died were the characters I liked 😭. We all know if they were still alive they would of took Arthur side and dutch would of been outnumbered
What about reverend, and Josiah
I sometimes dream that, what if Dutch camped the same place where Arthur died and when John chase him they went the same place where Arthur died or where he buried.
But I think that will never happened because John wants to forget the past and Dutch went crazy and the biggest thing that made him crazier is because of Arthur and Hosea and specially Arthur I think
"I gave you all I had"
Even when Dutch left him at the oil fields. Arthur stayed with Dutch at the end of his living minutes. He was always loyal. I think Dutch in the end knew that and hence shot Micah
I wish they made it so that dutch buried arthur, its more fitting in a way
Great video for a showcase, really adds to Dutch's character
Dutch : I'm l'm sorry Arthur I need you and Hosea's advice but you know, see you around
