  • I put my 1964 Cadillac Coupe De Ville's interior back together since there is currently nothing for me to do. Instead I clean the interior and try my best to make the car more liveable.

      Yes! Question - how can you really clean blood from the interior? I'm surely that criminal like yourself would like to share some details / products that you use 🙂

      @@DEKKERcz you need to drive an Acura NSX to know that.

      Blood is actually really easy to get out of leather as it doesn't really penetrate the leather. Any decent interior detailer will work. If it gets into the carpet or we're talking cloth seats it becomes more difficult. I would use an extractor for that (since I own an extractor, I like using it for carpets and fabric anyway, wether blood is involved or not 👀).

    We got around 4mpg. Price of gas back then was around 15 cents per gal. The front windows took forever to go up an down but rears were geared for amputation. The original exhaust system was whisper quiet. Met a fellow Coup owner when I took my present daily driver in for repair. I drooled over it a bit until he showed me the apparatus in the trunk for the air shocks he'd installed. The double back tape on the vanity mirror is a bit tacky pun intended.

    I have owned many classic Caddies and regarding the fuel problems , dont forget lead additive at fill up time . These cars need it and gas without lead ruins the engine. Older motorcycles too especially mopeds. Good luck with your car, I had a 64 Fleetwood limo and loved it ! They aren't making these beauties anymore .

    Hi, I have a 1965 Cadillac (The gas smell) there are rubber hoses where the fuel lines go to the tank they dry and crack, also there is a vent on the tank also connected with rubber lines to access the vent you must drop the tank it is not hard to do, but drive until the tank is very empty as gas is heavy. look for rust and replace all the rubber hoses. Where the fill neck joins the tank can also leak I fixed mine with a tube of car silicone gasket maker. there are also rubber hoses at the fuel pump. The carburetor also could leak at the carburetor accelerator pump and other gaskets. So approach the car to see if the smell of gas is stronger at the back or front of the car to see where you should start looking. The steel fuel lines can also rust or rub through so look for dark or very clean spots. Do not drive with a locking gas cap. the fill is at the back of the car, the gas sloshes to the back and the fuel comes out of the keyhole when you accelerate. Put the locking cap on only when you park or don't use one. good luck! hope this is helpful. She is a beautiful machine.

    You can get a split speaker that fits in the original dash speaker hole. Basically two speakers in one so that you get stereo sound.

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  2 роки тому

      I got the single speaker with the two tweeters. Still, with all the sound coming from the center of the car, there is not much in the way of stereo-separation going on (and I'm fine with that, I just want to get rid of the tinnyness).

    Try Prestone "Tuff Stuff" spray foaming cleaner on that headliner, its an amazing cleaner. For years I though my uncles 63 buick I inherited had light tan interior, turned out it was all tobacco tar, the Tuff Stuff cleaner took it all off and surprise the interior was WHITE!!

    My 64 did leak from the return tube, that tube have a ventilation hole on it and bending strange infront of the tank. My did leak when I did brake so look if you have a problem with that.
    Regarding fule consumption, my with original carter carburettor usually will have 1,4l/10km on highway in town it can drink enormous amount.
    I have the series 62 with the hydra-matic (4 speed) and you have the turbo hydra-matic 350 (three speed) so we haven't identical setup.
    The original tank should be around 98L but have seen aftermarket tanks that only can hold around 70L. Did look on a other video you have and did talk about the subject.

    I noticed that my (probably too long) response was taken down, perhaps because I included a link to some wiring diagram information. My apologies if that caused any difficulties. I hope the information was helpful.

    It's not supposed to smell like fuel. Check all around: from the tank in the back all the way to the carb. If there's a leak you will smell and probably be able to see it. Check and clean all fuses and fuse holders, those become corroded if the car is sitting long and can cause your light switch etc problems. Adjust fuel mixture, consumption should not be so bad, maybe expect 1 liter per 5 km.

    YES youre using WAAAAY too much fuel, mine got about 11 to 14mpg depending on how its driven. They are old gas guzzlers but the mileage should not be anywhere near as bad as youre getting.
