A Tale of 3 Broken Cars from the South of Italy

  • All my cars broke at the same time. Always have multiple old cars in order to have one that is always running. But in this case 3 was almost not enough.
My 2008 Lexus LS600h was involved in an accident while being test-driven by the mechanic after its service.
My 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille keeps losing coolant despite me having just spent over 8.000 $ to fix various leaks. It doesn't help that the temperature gauge is broken...
And of course, while my other cars were not really driveable, my 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am developed a very loud rumbling with bad vibrations somewhere on the front-end. It just turned out to be a wheel bearing, but even basic parts like that are not always easy to come by quickly in Switzerland.
But now things are mostly fixed. The Lexus received a new bumper and paint in the front (for about 8.000-10.000 $), the Pontiac has a new wheel bearing and the Cadillac seems not to leak as much coolant (🤞).

Of course they all break at the same time! Is this a cosmic message that 3 cars are not enough?

told you to get a Monteverdi too, runs like a swiss -watch- car, if you can find one. 😏
that LS is a good replacement for the Phaeton but you've got a knack for finding cars with interesting problems as it makes for interesting videos. 😗👌

What a pity about the Lexus, the color difference between fenders and doors is quite noticeable. Take care

Thanks for being alive still. I enjoy your miss adventures. I am looking for a firebird or Camaro now. My LS front end restoration was done in the USA on a trip down there . We came in contact with a fully built house wall laying in the road that someone had randomly left on I75 in Florida. It's great again.

Old Cadillac and a 80s Trans Am. You like living on the edge! Lexus is the counter balance of your automotive universe.

Car looks great! Isn't it lucky you got a "free" partial paint job/correction? There's a saying that goes something like "no harm comes without some good in the end".
I had a similar issue with a deer on my old midsize pickup. They were $200 away from totalling it (in USA) in 2016. Instead here we have the option of getting a check for the damage and repair on our own time/option of shops. I bought a rust free bed and new bumper and painted it all myself in the factory color, and pocketed about $2000 after all the supplies and parts were purchased. Took me about 20-25 hours of intermittent labor on weekends to get it done myself but I'm happy. Old parts were faded and rusty anyway so I see it as a win-win. That was 100,000 miles ago now! Love keeping old cars alive, I feel that is also more environmentally friendly than buying new cars every few years.
Keep the LS600h going! I still have never seen one in public, and months ago I searched the 48 contiguous states and there were only 2 for sale! Rare bird.

It is not just you, the color matching between the fenders and the doors is not great 🤐

It _is_ more evident on video. But then again, driver quality car. I'm already happy it wasn't totalled.

However It is not a Exotic car or a High End but rather than Low End Consumer for daily driving. lexus (''LUXUS'' in german ) simulated this idea for major mass marketing to make HEFTY PROFITS in automotive industry 🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤑
