Solenoid and buzzer sound tests: ua-cam.com/video/DrwStXF5uYE/v-deo.html
"Plateless doesn't really sound good" - I thought it sounded wonderful, lol.
I agree 😅
plateless sounds amazing
fully agree, it sounds so pure, just the switch and the keyboard
Plateless definitely sound better…it’s awesomely satisfying to my ears 😅
I really would have liked to hear a sound test with the solenoid. I love solenoids and it's one of the board's big, fairly unique draws. I don't think it sounds too bad in your sounds tests, it just sorta sounds like a big aluminum case to me.
Also, while I love the weight, I would also rather just have a normal weight and save the money. I think these wild, extravagant weights look nice in photos and promo material, but personally I don't spend too much time looking at the bottom of my keyboards.
dang this vid was insanely cool. also the first sound test sounds best idk what youre talking about 🗿
Agreed. First configuration was the best. That spacebar…
In my opinion, I personally didn't like the first sound test as it sounded kinda flat and boring apart from the spacebar. Just not the whole sound I like. THIS IS MY OPINION AND PERSONAL PREFERENCE DONT FLAME ME 🙏. And I completely agree, this video was 👌 I think I like the second as it seemed to reach a more whole sound a little more than the first one though I didn't like how it was deeper.
Why’d you make a new account
Cool intro, Man! It's great to see you're doing great and growing 😍 Love the desk. As always, thank you for sharing! 😁
Gonna make some slight corrections - it's inspired more directly by the original Gameboy, not the SNES. The bottom weight matches the button layout, the diagonal lines match the speaker grill, and the pen rail design is inspired by the top of Gameboy cartridges.
Fantastic video as always!
holy shiiii, the editing here is amazing
Man the production value of this video is just out of this world! No joke the best in the keeb world!
plateless hotswap?? damn, how far we've come in keyboard tech. i'm so excited for the future since I prefer hotswap pcbs over soldered! Sound may not be the best here but hoping for better designs in the future for amazing plateless sound design!
First sound test was amazing. It's an old school sound for the retro themed board. Also, does the solenoid actually work?
Yes it does work
Awesome video, great editing.
I actually really liked the sound of the first configs without the foam! The design is awesome, too, imo :)
nearlucid, you’re freakin goated my guy! keep up the great content!
good day when nearlucid uploads!
I have the CLASS65 and it’s my favorite bouncy keyboard. It’s so fun to type on and I can’t wait to get my hands on its big brother
Thanks for the awesome video! I, for one, am done with chasing the sound of a keyboard. There have been many boards that I skipped because they “didn’t sound good” only to find out in keyboard meets that they sound, look and feel great to type on in person. I appreciate your honesty, but I’m definitely gonna take the plunge on this board. I already missed out on the Class 65, I’m not about to miss out on the Class 80.
If anyone happens to be looking for a more budget offering that still retains the same retro aesthetic, the NCR80 is a great choice. Obviously it's much cheaper and doesn't have as many cool features, but considering its price its definitely solid if you want those chunky bezels.
Great video as usual.
spacebar is nuts
As a very happy Class65 owner, I've been looking forward to this one. If it feels and sounds similar, then I will likely enjoy it just as much. And that red version looks amazing.
Can you explain a bit more how the weight shape affects the sound? Is it because of how sound is reflecting off of it?
was really hoping to hear the solenoid or buzzer sound test :(
Hey! Sorry about this, the prototype PCB for the solenoid/buzzer was broken. They sent me a new one on very short notice, and I just got it in. Stay tuned for a test soon, I know those are the most interesting parts of the board.
@@nearLucid thanks for the clarification. Will be looking forward to that!
honestly really enjoyed the board's sound. I've been looking for a plateless board, so this might be the one...
Ive got the class65, its a banger
The giant size TKL !
I really would love to hear how the CLASS80 sound like without any foam, as you mentioned about how it sounds underwhelming without any form of insulation. Definitely piqued my curiousity! I had the impression that it would sound like an ALU Version of the NCR80 kit (Roomy and spacious), but I am l disappointed by the sound of it. It just sounds.... generic? It sounds like almost every other gasket mount board that has some form of thick case foam installed.
- step 1 : Put Zeal clickiez in this case.
- step 2 : Throw away the useless foam that make everything sound thin.
- step 3 : Enjoy pure bassy sound like the old days with Alps ^^
plateless sounded pretty good imo
It's a keyboard with a solenoid, really wish we got a sound test with that on.
Finally a sound test without sotc’s those things sound god awful
sick fuckin intro sequence
Interesting, my wallet is already dead but it's about to get dead er
All i want is the solenoid sound with both configuration.
is there also a shop that offers it fully assembled?
how long will it take for the board to arrive once i buy it?
Can you actually show how the board sounds without all the foam please?
Sound configuration 1, 3 and 2 is my favorites sounds from best to worst. The first one was both eargasm and nostalgic....
Really disagree in the sound, why always using so much case foam? I don't think it really did anything in class65 except limit the bounce/flex
just finished

For a second I read that as glass80
Its me back at it again for round 2. This time trying to be more precise. You sound test sound are very consistent for example on a same switch on a different board. If lets say I did a blind test listening to you sound test of 2 different keyboard of the same switch. I would have guessed it is the same board just with different foam or plate. But it is to my surprise they are 2 different board entirely. Lets say I search the sound test of the board with same switches. They sound different enough that I understand what sound profile the board leans towards and can imagine wt it would sound like with different switch but I find that harder to imagine in your videos. Your sound test are accurate enough but is not my go to assurance and I watch others for reference. It is safe to assume I dont have the same space, table or environment as you. Thus hope you understand what I mean. Like you said sound test is a lie because there is so many variables at play. Btw this had nothing to do with this specific keyboard. I just taught it would be funny to comment here instead.
Not complaining and I think nearlucid is also too young to get this right. The controller weight is NES/Famicom inspired and not SNES, which looks completely different.
Good video but no typing test with the solenoid?? Really?! That would be like reviewing a sports car and never going above 60 😂
just get a model m and have a real old scool board
i think you're just too used to foam
I lost my pin can I borrow yours
