The handling physics in PC 2 trump the first game by a mile...this one is an absolute blast to drive.
Before we complain about physics and they aren't bad...remember most of us has never been in a race car and even the best sims will still take 1000000 years to get the EXACT feel

Samuel Jones you dont need to drive a race car on a track to know realistic physics. I have driven sports cars and v8 muscle cars to there limit and its prety god dam easy to tell if a simulator replicates driving in all conditions and yes rfactor 2 does it better than any other i have all sims i have a racing rig and im a gear head so i know cars.

Just a quick question for people saying that it's unplayable with a controller...do you mean to tell me that there are no settings that will cater to a controller in this game?? If not it's a no buy for me because as much as I would love to buy a wheel (because who wouldn't since it's a better experience), I just have way too many responsibilities and other things to use my money on then hundreds of dollars for a video game steering wheel...

As for not paying hundreds of dollars, why not buy a used wheel? A Logitech G27/G29/G920 can be had used for under 200 euro. And it's good enough for sim racing even in a league.
If you want something more than that after a while a used Thrustmaster T300 (3 pedal version) can be had for around 240-300 even with the T3PA-pro pedals.
If you want to stick around and later want to drive manul cars you can buy a dedicated shifter, although you don't need to.
A great shifter for an insane buget orice is the SHH NEWT Shifter 98 Euro+Postage for a 7 speed H-pattern+Sequential shifter.
10 eutos for the sequetial top plate not strictly necessary, but it improves feel.
Don't waste your money on either the Logitech g-shifter (bad shifting feel, way too many mishifts) or the Thrustmaster Th8A Shifter (50-70 euros more, all metal, but changing over to sequetial is a pita, too long shifting stick and movement) and get the SHH.
It will give you precise shifts, and a great sequetial mode that can be entered by pushing the shifter down, turn 90 degrees and flip one switch.
10-20 seconds without changing the top plate under one minute if you change the top plate.

how do you say the controls a great when your crashing and spinning. You have to adjust everything from the beginning to even compete. Sounds great though.

I play Project cars 2 without vibrations and it still has all the cool pieces in the game
I not getting sucked in by a game anymore unless I can play a demo , I would have bought Forza 7 but thank God I was able to play the demo. I own all the other Forza games but this one had no grip. Project cars the original had one car and one track I liked the feel of, sure I expect cars and tracks to have different sounds and feel to them but I expect to be able to feel the road and not swerve and spin off the road on the default or beginners settings. I play brake assist off with traction control on. I want to feel like I can rail a corner but also know there is a balance before slipping off the road. F1 2017 is the standard of what I expect for control.
So many cuts away just before everything is about to go pear shaped :p

Gran Turismo has never been a racing simulator. It's an arcade game. It's much more realistic than Need For Speed, for example, but it's a game made to play in the controller, while a racing sim is made to play on a wheel.

Just grabbed this game for $35 and couldn't be happier.
Him talking about "The Sound" feels like he was inspired by Road and Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year. The car that won was the Shelby GT350, and, in the end of the article, the writers talked about the Sound it made, also describing it as one that cavemen will tell tales about in the remnants of our crumbled society. I think the guy in the video was also thinking of the scream of the V8 as they described in the magazine as he made this review. (2:50)

why didnt you mention the game breaking career mode bug, that won't let you skip 30 minute qualifying sessions? you said the career mode is a blast, so i assume you drove all of the 30 minute qualifying sessions, i would really like to see your face when ur saying how much of a blast that is
If you are trying to skip, that means you need to bump that difficulty up more lol. Every real racer with a real challenge uses every minute to get the set up and the perfect line right.
I just go into the pits and end qualifying to continue on to the race.

I haven’t tried this game yet… but I will. From the bunch of shared videos I’ve watched there are 2 things I don’t like in this game.
#1. Chase cam - cars do kicks like a horse! It seems that the rear wheels do turns themselves, like the front wheels.
#2. I still complaining about this over and over - the water system. Driveclub is still the best one and for sure it could be achieved in this title, we are in 2017. Yes, I know, Driveclub is a simcade game. Whatever.

Dallas Williams this one is awesome man. Most cars feel great without even tweaking any settings. Lots of content and haven't encountered many bugs. If you enjoyed the first I recommend this one.
What console do you play on
The idea that sim racing games are for hardcore gearheads is WRONG! I play with a normal ps3/4 controllers, with manual gearing, on very high difficulty setting (overall) and that being said I challenge anyone with a wheel to beat me. Even if racing games is ALL you do and you are a gearhead you will sweat against me, and I play all kinds of games (RTS being my favorite). So stop scaring people into thinking that race sims are not for them if they don't have wheel/special chair/VR and all kinds of extra crap - they are for EVERYONE! .. and all you need is the game and a controller. Just remember, this is not NFS, so brake before corners and learn the tracks. THAT'S IT! have fun.

First thing I noticed was that you could tell the person playing in the video was using a controller and the fact that it's that obvious is a bad sign for the game, the second thing I noticed was that this game doesn't seem to like controllers. The handling in your video looks very digital with a controller, there also seemed to be a lack of body roll dynamics. Maybe that had something to do with how certain cars were set up I dont know, but this video doesn't convince me that the handling is realistic, it convinces me that if I use a controller, it's going to feel like a video game, not a sim. Hard to tell though without actually playing it.
P.S As an experiment back in the day when PC first came out, for a laugh I used the mouse as a controller for about a month and that actually began to feel and look surprisingly intuitive after a while, I clocked up some decent times on the nurburgring with that method and found that I was using the mouse to anticipate body roll and all kinds of drift. That felt way more convincing than the control method in this video looked, which causes me to think that this game might have taken a backward step. Again, hard to tell, but the overriding thing I took from this video was that if it looked that obvious on screen that the control method was a gamepad, then there was something wrong and I need to steer clear. I wouldn't actually plan to use a controller myself (got a decent wheel setup) but if the handling doesn't look good on controller then it's not a good sign generally.
Steve Bell dude, the fact that it doesn’t handle well with a controller or a keyboard is a sign that it is REALISTIC... and NOT an arcade game like forza meant to be played with a pad. This game is literally not designed to be played with a pad and that’s a good thing. Go try to race your car around a track controlling it with an Xbox controller and let me know how that goes.
Imagine turning the wheel with a thumbstick. How are you supposed to catch slides? How are you supposed to even feel the road or what’s happening with the car without force feedback? Like, really dude? Yeah, find a different game because this wasn’t meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard, it’s a fucking racing simulator, you use a wheel and pedals.

Yes i've tried it with the dualshock 4. I played PC1 with a controller, all assists off, and some cars i just couldn't drive properly. With PC2 that all changed, the cars are much more stable to drive with a controller, slides/spins can now be saved, the tires 'bite' the track when put in a good turn, kerbs are no longer a death-sentence, hard braking is no longer a death sentence. It feels amazing right now, really. You can tweak all the controller settings to suit your style. If you like racing games, you really should get this one.
thanku thomas i have played driveclub and i know its arcady but still how are the controls compared to it coz even driveclub sometimes gets challenging for me, will i have fun with project cars 2 ( will i win :P) its ok if it will take time to learn but atleast it should be possible to win
Better than "Grand Turismo Sport" ? I use controller.
I bought Pcars 2, but I don't see how this is easier to control with a gamepad than the first. I raced the same car on the same track with the same conditions in both games with default controller settings and the 2nd was a NIGHTMARE to control. I'll be buying a wheel soon so this won't be a problem, but I call BS on the "ease of handling" claims.

Wish this came to switch grid autosport is ok but the AI is just irritating most of the time and the career mode coming from race driver grid is lackluster

Cars handling feels better on most cars than project cars 1, better car selection, more tracks, all tracks seem narrow, actually graphics seem better on first game to me. I use the ps4 guessing computer game has better look. Overall still pleased with it.

mussa ahmad driveclub is probably the worst racing game on new gen. If you had actually tried pc2 you would have seen that it is a true simulator where driveclub is just an arcade racing game where every car feels exactly the same

lol Most sim racing games are an exaggeration of car behavior in reality. And they look unrealistic. The movements and behavior of the car look as unrealistic as they come. And that's usually thanks to fanboys who think that realism means an unstable overly hyper car.

I can't help but think that project cars 2 is going to be a much better experience than Forza 7. Knowing turn 10, they won't, have changed much on the handling front, it has very few tracks and has a load of useless new features to make it look like they've made an effort. Meanwhile, PC2 has twice as many tracks, better sound, and a much more interesting car list.
Oh, and slightly mad studios aren't already trying to rip us off with fancy cars from the world's shittest movie franchise...

Turn off that stupid virtual racing line
I Auto x as often as possible in real life with a real car. This game is so far from reality it’s not funny. Other than graphics, track configuration and car setup options being “realistic” this games handling physics are garbage. I don’t spin out in real life often. I dot spin out in Asseto often. I don’t spin out in R Factor 2 often.
In this game for some reason it’s a normal occurrence. The driving experience is an absolutely horrible representation of reality. If you don’t believe me just try Asseto after playing this game. Or I found getting a noob in your rig and watching how they perform by comparison in PC2 vs Asseto is very telling. The game that drives better i.e. is more logical will play better to someone new to sim racing.

You have to put the time in dude, trust me. It doesn’t even take very long to stop spinning out like come on, you could at least try for a bit before you blame the game. Some people want to go on a track though and a game "sim" is the best way that they can get close to that experience. I don't think it has or at least should have anything to do with elitism, just different expectations and preferences. There's nothing wrong with that either. I prefer more realistic like handling and responsiveness within these sort of games where and when possible and simulating real historic races and rally driving, but I still like the convenience of using a controller and gaming on my PC from the comfort of my couch. Go figure. I did drive cars professionally as part of my job for a few years.

this game isnt even close to real life, no games out right now are, assetto corsa and iracing get somwhat close, pcars 2 is so far from reality sim should be no where near its name, ive driven an open wheel race car at Waterford racetrack in Michigan and im part of the Porsche club for Michigan, i track my car from may to october every year for the last 6 years, starting with a bmw m5(which has now been converted to a track only car) and an open wheel car that looks like a small formula one car called a Renault Tatuus cost me $26,000, they have a car close to mine in pcars two called formula renault its newer and more powerful than my 2008 model. but it still handles like garbage compared to the real thing, assetto corsa has a tatuus in the game, and that car represent the real thing very very closely. get out to your local track and try it out, its only 230$ to drive from 8am-4pm at our track you go out for 30 minute increments then there is a class in between for briefing and tips from our local "pro" generally a retired driver or a test driver for GM/or ford since we are in motor city. all it will take is one track day before you realize how terrible project cars two is, i was so upset after being so excited for the game, i spent 1300$ on a rig for THIS GAME ALONE! but now i use it for assetto corsa since i got tired of the annual fee for iracing, this game was a huge let down, but hey at least mount fuji has the right amount of snow on it for each time of year -_-. i would say worry about your physics engine before worrying about how mount fugi looks. your looking at the road the whole time anyway....
