How I usually end up with empty seats next to me on flights:

Spoiler alert: Delta Air Lines A350 Premium Select (premium economy) is really good. The seats are large and spacious, the food delicious and plentiful, and the cabin crews attentive and friendly.
This is footage from flight number 158 from Seoul / Incheon (ICN) to Detroit (DTW), and I was seated in 22J. Total flying time was 12 hours and 9 minutes, and the aircraft registration was N502DN.

I've been a Delta SkyMiles member for over twenty years now and just love this airline.
Big fan of your style ! I actually laugh during your reviews and never skip anything(which says a lot). Keep up the great work
Haha, thanks Sean. Many more fun videos to come... 😄👍🏻
I flew Delta non premium economy Atlanta/London/Atlanta about 2 weeks ago, and was amazed at the quality of their basic economy product was, at least internationally. Older A332, but essentially the same interior as yours. Food was decent, service was outstanding. I have to scratch my head about flying business with Delta in the future. They have evolved into a really decent product, at least internationally!
@Lynda Anthony comfort plus and regular economy are different ball game
I flew main cabin trans pacific for the first time in a long time few months back. I was able to snatch the exit row for free on the a350 thanks to diamond medallion. That was a really good seat and the service in economy is on par with asian carriers i think. They have all the alcohol and would mix same kind of cocktail as they would do up front. The only difference between Y and J is literally hard product and food. I wouldn’t think twice to fly delta long haul new economy in Y
I love your witty delivery! Looked a great flight! and the food looked really good m. The A350 wing is a thing of beauty 😍!
I can't decide whether or not the A350 is my new favorite plane. It's such a beauty! That time line was also really cool, cheers to Delta for thinking outside of the box!
It has every reason to be your favorite IMHO - they are really nice airplanes! I want to like the 787 more, but I can’t because of the tinted windows. 😄
As always, great work. Absolutely great editing and light humorous commentary.
Thank you. “Light and humorous” is about the only attitude one can have when attempting to survive 12 hours in economy class. 😅
That’s another great video, Scott! Thanks so much and we can’t wait for your next one.
Thanks Kiana! And you’re very welcome - the next one should be really fun as well... 😄
Delta is my favorite airline. Great video! Thanks Scott.
You’re welcome Chris - Delta is getting so incredibly good and very competitive on these long haul routes. 😮👍🏻
Im a non rev working for delta and I have been on the delta a350 to and from ICN 6 times. 2 times were in economy, 3 times in premium select, and once in delta one. Every time I had good service and a relatively smooth flight. Delta one suite with the door was awesome, the full recline was great, and the blanket / pillow were super warm. Premium select had a few nice touches like the footrest, little further recline, and bigger tv. Coach was coach so nothing great but it wasn't too bad. Im going back in a few weeks so here's hope for getting Delta one again! 🤞 A350 is my most favorite plane ever.
Dude, your videos are great! 100/10
Thanks for sharing! Looks like a good product and it’s always nice to have any open seat anymore.
I had my parents on these seats so I was nervous! (If only I could afford business class for ‘em!) your review helped tremendously:) thanks!
Welcome back, great work again, I love this review. Keep it up, good luck ;)
Thanks Umair! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice flight review✈☺. Used to fly Delta (during Northwest days) when I travel to and from the US🇺🇸 and always have my stopovers in Tokyo Narita🇯🇵.
First video I watched from u and I REALLY ENJOYED it soooo yeah keep up the good work👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! Many more videos are coming...😎👍🏻
great video and great edit, as usual!
Definitely my favorite trip reporter on UA-cam!
Excellent video Scott! I’ve commented on this video years ago but I keep coming back to it as I LOVE this review the first video of yours I ever saw when it was new and subscribed! As you know I’ve been a huge fan and subscriber of yours ever since so this video id say has definitely pulled its weight in terms of views, subscribers and quality!
Love it!
Cheers 🥂
-Caleb’s Aviation
love the music selection!
Thanks Camilo!
Absolutely fantastic review.
Thanks Alessandro! 😎👍🏻
The spare amenity kit next to you looks tempting!
It looked like the power of "prayer" worked and you had 2 seats to yourself. I must try that next time I fly!! in fact it looks like there were plenty of spare seats up forward! Excellent review as always and yes the food and the service looked like Business Class ! Well done!
The trick is to whisper it in a creepy way that the flight attendants can hear as you board the plane. 😆 Anyway, yeah, I got lucky this time!
Excellent review! My first transpacific flight may be on the horizon within the next year or so, and if it actually happens, I may splurge and give Delta’s premium economy a shot. When comparing this product to those on other airlines, Delta looks to be the best. But hey, any extra legroom on a 12 hour flight is good to me.
I'm a D Flight attendant and this is great to hear.
Nice to see you flew into my hometown!!
That’s actually my real hometown as well (I grew up just north of Detroit).
Very well done! You should be having 100K subs, not just 10K.
Thanks man! Someday... 🙏🏻😆
If he showed the seats more and actually reviewed them, maybe he would
I adore your reviews. You are number 1 and Sam nr.2. It is very well edited and the timeline is just perfect. ICN is the best airport but I am a bit biased I love Seoul and Busan!!!
Thank you! 🙏🏻 I’d love to collaborate with Sam someday - I think we’d be able to make a pretty fun video together. 😅 Anyway, I’d love to check out other airports in S. Korea someday, because if they’re anything like ICN, I know I’m gonna like them. 👍🏻
Oh my gosh, Scott! You made me laugh at "mood lighting or a punch in the face I'm good!"
Now I just hope people don’t start punching me in the face whenever there’s turbulence. 😬🤛🏻😂
@@sanspotter Looool..😂🤣🤣 Epic!👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤣
Northwest, I mean Delta has really upped their game on the international front! Worked for Northwest Orient back in the mid 80’s in Seattle, flights were always so open back then compared to now! What a life
Finally, a proper review, thanks.
Thanks James! I’m not so sure about “proper”, but it was a fun one to make. 😆
Still need to catch a ride on one of these beauties. Great video!
The good news is that they’ve got a bunch of them now and it’s not all that difficult to hitch a ride. You’re going to enjoy it when you do though - these A350s are nice!!
The A350 configuration for Delta looks really good, the food selection was also very nice.
I flew American from FLL to Seoul in Business class using only 30k miles, it was also low season
Wow, 30k from FLL to ICN in business class is an amazing deal! Low season definitely helps. 😎👍🏻
Ah no sweat buddy. You did the best you could! 😊 love your videos
I love the voiceover. Nice job
Amazing channel!
Thanks! Do stay tuned, because there is lots more to come... 🙂
Great video!
Thank you! 😎👍🏻
No surprise but another superb piece of work as always!
Thanks Blake! 👍🏻
Just joined your channel. Thanks for the great content
Welcome Alon! Glad you’re enjoying my videos! 😎👍🏻
real, honest, great video. mahalo!
Those some good flight attendants when they give you a nice snack without waking you up! that is amazing work! Just because you were asleep you still didn't miss extra food!
Very nice video Thanks
I've really enjoyed this video.
Thanks so much! 👍🏻👍🏻
This a very nice video Brother!
Thanks Japheth! 😎👍🏻
Wow best Delta flight video ever.
Ran into your channel because I was debating flying this to Tokyo tomorrow.. seems to be quite a steal. However, what was the recline like? Is there a footrest? And.. you got a new sub. Great content and production, especially with just a smartphone!
All I wanted to know was about the recline and foot rest. Can’t believe it wasn’t covered.
2:26, looks like a footrest on the seat behind him.
Apology accepted on the spool up lol. You have the best take off footage on the internet anyway.
Im flying Delta One next week on a A330-900 MSP-CDG and then Comfort Plus from LHR-DTW...Flying Premium Select in October to LHR on Virgin...cant WAIT!!
did this flight in main cabin, exact same aircraft both there and back in September 2019. very comfortable. although the return flight my brain was cooked because I was awake the previous day and came inbound from HKG on Korean Air.
Seems like a great experience. I miss the Northwest/Delta 747-400s though.
Fantastic review. Great video quality. What video camera did you use? Great video editing as well.
love it!
Thanks Peter! 😎👍🏻
Hi Scott!
Once again a fantastic and well made video, really enjoyed it! What a great idea to try Delta’s Premium Select product out. It looks fantastic, although getting food in a tin foil is a bit weird.. or did the crew do this on purpose to keep your food warm while you were still asleep?
Really love the A350, it is such a great aircraft.
It looks like you had a fantastic trip to Australia & Asia. A bunch of great airlines and aircraft. Did you have any time to visit the cities..? Lol
Thanks again!
Brendan
Thanks Brendan - nope....everyone got a tin foil ball. 😄 Anyway, the only city I had time to rest and relax in on this trip was Sydney. I’ve been to Bangkok and Seoul before though, so I didn’t feel too badly about not getting to spend any time in each this trip.
I am thinking about buying these seats for our Amsterdam trip next May.
REVIEW TIME! This response is a tad late, but trust me when I say that I started watching this 45 minutes after it released. Then I realized I had a Mandarin test the next day.
Good conversation throughout the video and humorous comments. Real quick, though, INCHEON HAS ROBOTS? I find it absolutely BONKERS how far we have come as a society. We get a look at our plane after a scrumptious dumpling breakfast. I love that shot of the A350, a few weeks before you flew on this flight, (I check your Instagram) I myself flew on the Delta A350, except in Delta ONE. Got a solid 8 hours of sleep on that aircraft. It is a beautiful aircraft with an absolutely stellar cabin. This is your 4th A350 in a week... Is that so bad? We board the plane and he says that he hopes nobody would sit next to him. But there was an echo, so that makes it Quality Editing. Also, the fact that Delta gives you an amenity kit in the premium economy cabin is shocking, because I don't think any US carrier does that. You didn't film the spool up... I know you realized that, but you realized that too late. SHAME! SHAAAAAAAAAAME! We hit turbulence after hearing the most annoying squealing sound that seems to happen a lot when filming Airbus aircraft departures, and we also get a splendid restroom shot. Because restrooms are the most important part of the journey. After eating a quiche and a hot tinfoil ball, we reach the 75% mark. 3/4 of the way done, and we're over Calgary....? We get a very abrupt ending with us parking next to another aircraft.
Alright, you know there are going to be critiques. You should really mention the statistics on the seat (pitch, recline, etc.) so that anybody thinking of flying on it would know what to expect. Also, conclude better. Have a smooth transition to the ending. Usually, the music on your videos is okay, but this one was awful. Absolute garbage. It almost made me not like the video. Other than that, good job. (Oh, and I still liked the video.)
Sorry about the ending! But that’s what happens when arriving in Detroit after such a long flight. 😂 Anyway, a killer summary as always. I really look forward to these! 👀👍🏻
@@sanspotter Thank you, sir. I am honestly always humbled to read your replies to my summaries. If you did not reply that very first time, I probably would not do this anymore. Each time you respond is as great and adrenaline-filled as the last. Again, I thank you.
Haha lots of food on this trip but it looks so good.seats are to close a fight can break one arm rest who gets it.nice you had no one next to you.😁 can wait for your next travel vedio
Haha, I’m so glad I didn’t have to fight anyone over the narrow armrests!
Great trip report. And the food looks delicious and presentable. Was the economy class on low passengers' loading as well? Hope everything is fine and I will be able to fly on Delta A350 in December.
I hope to try this out on my next delta flight that has this
Do it if you can - it’s a really good product!
Thanks for the video. It indeed looks like a good alternative to Delta One. :-)
Wow, can’t believe I just found you, your videos a great! I’m definitely subscribing
Only 10K subs? Holy moly your videos are 10x better then Sam Chuis and you have a fraction of his subscribers! Don’t stop the videos, they’re great and you’ll blow up eventually
Wow, thanks Lucas! 🤩 I’ve got many more videos in the works! 👨🏼💻
SANspotter no problem, excited to see them in the future
please don't let anyone seat next to me(repeat 5,000,000,000,000,000 times)=good luck
The chanting worked! 😆 Nothing quite like a vacant seat next to you on a 12 hour flight...
The most important thing I wanted to know is a seat space, leg room, how seat expands. And there was nothing about it!
the important part is that there was steaming tinfoil. Thats all I came for...
Thats literally why I clicked on this video! A flight review without the seat review?
Clearly has good leg room and seat space. And the seat reclines but won't expand. What do you want him to do get a tape measure out?
Yeah he's not the best at that part. Better with the volume low, too...
Duluth MN is where I live! You flew over my town!
Not too far from where my sister lives! 👍🏻
That’s so cool! I live in Two Harbors not too far down from Duluth. Ever heard of it?
that's cool, Two Harbors / Duluth is nice
I just flew DTW-PEK & PEK-DTW in Premium Select and it was 10/10 worth it. The extra recline was amazing, it was especially nice that it doesn't make the person behind you miserable as they can still get out of their seat easily. The passenger in front of me had their seat reclined completely for almost the entire length of both flights and at 6'5" I had zero issues getting in and out of the seat and never felt cramped. The foot rest seemed pointless for my height until I figured out what the third button did and was able to extend the foot rest all the way.
Delta's IFE is always great, the remote is very useful considering the decent distance to the screen when reclined (or even when upright, as there is a ton of room.) The 2Ku Wi-Fi is outstanding, only had a few issues on the flight to PEK but that was due to our routing outside of the coverage map. However, I have yet to be on a 2Ku flight where the service is actually turned on "Gate to Gate" as it should be, per Delta's website.
I preferred the aisle seat vs the window as the aisle seats have an armrest on the side of the aisle that can be easily lowered to provide extra width or just to ease getting in or out. We had great service on the way to Beijing (it may have helped that the CEO was on our flight?) but the service on the way back left a lot to be desired.
Yeah, having the CEO on the flight probably helped quite a bit! 😄 Anyway, thanks for your input - that’s a really good summary of the service! 👍🏻
Brain still booting up. 👍🏼
The humor tops it all! Hahaha.
I’m usually in a much more humorous mood when I’ve got an open seat next to me with extra room to goof off. 😆👍🏻
Hope no one punched you in the face!! Lol. Great video and the food looked good!
Thanks Anita! I’m so scared that people are going to start punching me in the face on flights now... 🙈🤛🏻😆
Could Delta at least use real glass for beverages during meal service? Just cannot drink wine from a plastic cup.
Great video as usual Scott! So they serve wine in a plastic cup even after departure?? Tacky! The china looked nice though 👌!
Yup, plastic cups for everything unfortunately. But the dish ware is nice, and there are linen tablecloths, so that’s a step in the right direction!
I like this video
When you were seated in Premium Economy on the Delta A359, were you able to use the restrooms in-front of the PS cabin or did you have to use the ones in coach?
Hey again, just watching the things after the virus came. Have you flown the 350 one suite?
A M A Z I N G video !
Thank you! 🤩👍🏻
Jesus christ have your videos improved!!! Awesome
For those who remember the Jetsons, the robot reminded me of Rosie the robot housekeeper. Anyone remember?
Haha, yeah, that was my first thought as well. 😂
OK I'm jealous!!! I did the reverse route DTW-ICN back in early '17 and on one of the last few 747's. Man, these flights are looong! I didn't have time to enjoy the DTW Sky Club because of a tight inbound (been there, done that, meh), but I got to experience the KAL Lounge which was of course pretty much an all-you-can-eat Korean buffet!
- Red
You’re very lucky to have been able to do this route on the 747! I missed out on that unfortunately. 😕
Aww dude... ATL-ICN also on the Korean 747 back in '13! :)) I'll be uploading a few domestics on UA pretty soon, so stay tuned!
Throwing the Shaka, brah! Aloha from Nashville.
Nah that burgerjoint in Chicago airport beats everything, dude even hands me the food wrapped in actual newspaper.
Cheerios on sale at Costco for $3.59 for the double box
🏃🏻♂️💨😂
ahahaha, please dont let anyone sit next to me!! so funny bc its so true!!! ahahaha
Great!
Thank you! 😎
"Please let me sit between someone with a teething baby and a whiskey drinking Chatty Cathy," said no one ever.
You’re probably right, but it’d make for an epic video though. 😆
So ur back home Scott. Indeed, you need some rest.
It felt so good to be home after this trip - it was a long one! 😴😴
I ❤️ A350
It’s an amazing aircraft!
Great review
Tragic about the missed take off...maybe some side to side action if there is anything interesting coming down the glass jetway??
That's my kind of routing
ICN DTW SAN...
The cabin 20% full?. That's not good news for Delta
Overall how full was the flight?
Thanks Robert! Yeah, I was so bummed about missing half the takeoff. 😩 Oh well... Anyway, yeah, Premium Select was maybe 20% full, and economy was maybe 40%. It was hard to tell what it was like in the D1 cabin though - the high walls of suites made it difficult to see how many seats were occupied.
Do you or anyone else have any tips on when to book a flight to get an empty flight like we saw in the video?
great video; would you recommend the seats in first row of Premium select? This would be the bulkhead seat. Thanks
Definitely! Lots of extra leg room in the bulkhead row, but the downside is that all carryon bags need to go in the overhead bin. There is no floor storage space.
7:49 Hard to have a bad thing to say when the seat next to you is empty 😁
Empty adjacent seats do make all the difference. 😆
The A350 is a great product! DTW January gloominess arghh... just days away. SE Michigan FTW haha
Any chance you’ll do Delta One refurbished 767-400. Hope so!!
If I lived in Detroit I would. Considering I have my parents back in Korea
I fly in 3 weeks wanted to know know what plug does the plane take for head phones ??
The thing I most dislike about premium is that there is a large unmovable barrier between the seats so even if there is noone next to you, can cannot lie down across
That’s a really good point actually - I didn’t think of that before now, but you’re absolutely right. 👍🏻
I wonder if food in economy the same?
that food tho :0 looks better than some business classes
That’s one the nice things about Delta - the food is always good!
Cool
⚠️ Just a word of caution to anyone viewing this in 2023 or later. Premium Select is now featuring the same food as economy with paper plates covered in foil. This is standard for all Premium Select routes as of 2019. PS is no longer worth it after this downgrade IMO.
Such a shame. Looking at Japan flights now & Premium is double the price from Economy for….what exactly?
@@MemoirsofaBasketcase you get 0.5” (inches) of extra width. What a steal /s
@@MemoirsofaBasketcasespeaking of Japan Airlines 💀
@@DirtySierraHD Still a better use of money than Delta.
@@MemoirsofaBasketcase I was seeing if you knew that one of Japan Airlines A350 crashed earlier today…
Very good meals, better catering than Domestic First!
Yeah, it was really good food!
nice
Thanks Travis!
It was a Korean Air code sharing flight.

Anyone noticed the ipad on the screen?
