    I always think of our planes as flying carpets you get on in one country and get off in another the other side of the world amazing. Like how the captain says 14 hours and 28 minutes. Love how the seats recline and not effect the person behind you.

    Jeb, I wish you would include the fare cost for all the seats you fly on. Yeah, we know you sometimes redeem rewards miles, and we know the cost varies based on when and how the flight is booked. But still, pick a date... two, three, four weeks in advance of the flight you plan to take, and look up the cash price for the cabin class you will sit in. I think we'd all appreciate that information!

    • @TonyM132
      @TonyM132 Рік тому +13

      @@greenidguy9292 First of all, by Jeb just reporting the regular retail price of the seat at a certain time before the flight, we still wouldn't know how much he paid for it. He might have gotten a better deal, redeemed miles, etc.
      Secondly, even if he also told us how much he paid for seats, that doesn't indicate how much money he is making. He has other expenses besides airfare, and it says nothing about how much revenue he gets from UA-cam.
      Third, he's not making money "off of us," as in out of viewers' pockets (unless you count patreons and channel members, but those folks obviously want to give him money). He is making money from advertising via UA-cam. Why would any of his viewers begrudge him making money from advertising on his videos? That's what UA-camrs do. I'm sure most of Jeb's viewers want him to make good money.
      On the other hand, I can think of a couple angles related to what you wrote which might make some sense. Some viewers might feel something like "If he can afford tickets that expensive, then he must be making too much money." Whatever "too much money" is..? It might be that they don't feel they can relate to him as well, or that they are jealous of him because he can afford flights they cannot. Or, the high cost of an airfare might underscore the idea that extravagant accomodations on a flight are wasteful, when there are homeless people and hungry people across the USA and around the world. I have held that kind of opinion myself after watching some of these videos.
      Some other flight bloggers indicate how much airfares cost. And some others do not. I don't know the reason(s) why some choose not to. I would like Jeb to at least explain someday his reasons why he doesn't, if he won't.

    My wife and I did CHO-IAD-SFO-SYD on United Business First (pre-Polaris) back in Nov 2016 to visit her brother (Army Major) who was doing exchange duty with the ADF and I think, having experienced a 24 hour total flight+layovers as you did, that it is more preferable than an 20+ hour non-stop flight. Especially if you have lounge access that offers showers so you can truly refresh and not feel so grungy/grubby when you arrive after such a massive flight. I'm sure others will have opposite opinions but so long as both options exist, to each their own 🙂

    As an Aussie it always makes me smile a bit when travel vloggers (or anyone really) talks about how long it takes to travel Down Under - if we ever want to go ANYWHERE it's pretty much always hours and hours in a plane - its kinda the norm for us (lol although if I could do it in Business or First that'd be GREAT!!!!!)

    I think the choice of making a connection or not depends on what cabin I'm in. I really don't fancy a 20+hour flight in economy, or even in PE tbh. So in those cabins I'd rather make a connection halfway to get off and stretch my legs for a few hours. If I was in business or first though then I'd rather just do one long flight.

    • @johniii8147
      @johniii8147 Рік тому +4

      Even in the premium cabins I'll take the stop over. I wouldn't fly long haul in anything other than at least business. I'll stay home rather than subject myself to that torture. I actually quit a job over that issue with a change in travel policy that wanted me to go to India twice a month in economy. Yeah no. I just don't want to be on any plane longer than 12 hours or so. By about hour 12 I want off. Only adds 2-4 hours to a long journey which is really nothing on such long routing.

    The last time I flew to Australia was to watch my wife compete on one of the U.S. teams at the 2000 Sydney Games. The best part of the 36 hours of travel to get there from Greensboro NC was the arrival into Sydney. After looking out the window and seeing nothing for so long it was almost a shock to be flying over the inlet just as it was starting to be dusk. Flying past the famous Opera House and then making a slow turn over the Harbor Bridge and then right over the Olympic Stadium and seeing it all lit up and full of people with the flame burning just as it was getting to be full dark made it a very exciting arrival into Australia.

    Delta awarded us 25,000 miles as a consolation when I called customer service upon our return.
    On the return when we entered the club at LAX around 8:00 am there was a live LOUD mariachi band playing as you came up the escalators. A nice touch but for me it was a little unwelcomed coming off of a 13+ hour flight looking for a little peace and quiet.

      Thanks so much for watching! Flight numbers usually change for each city pair, even when flown by the same airframe!

    I agree with EV and your production values have continued to improve up to the point where yours is as professional a Vlog as you'll find anywhere on UA-cam. Now, I appreciate seeing how the other half lives but I will NEVER get the opportunity to travel business class much less 1st class (unless I win the lottery). Nope. for me, it will always be "Crap Class" in the back. So, here's my tip for all you normal travelers. Book early and try very hard to get a seat in an emergency exit row. You'll get extra leg room. So, you can take your carry-on bag, put it in front of you on the floor and use it as a leg/foot rest. That's what I've done and it's almost as good as a true reclining seat. Also, bring your own small pillow and fold-up blanket and you'll be comfortable no matter what. Don't forget an eye shade and ear plugs...it's no "door" but it will make you feel like you have privacy. I flew 14 hours from Chicago to Tokyo this way and arrived feeling great. So, Jeb, wasn't it a different time of year in Australia? Didn't you leave the USA in summer but arrive in Australia in winter? How do you pack for that?

    What would be really interesting is to see around the world video of economy I know it’s painful idea but it would be cool to see that you two can do it and to highlight which ones are the better ?

    So 2 days ago I flew from ATL to LAX in the A350. It was my first time sitting in a regular economy seat on Delta’s A350. It was AWFUL! Those economy seats on the A350 are the most uncomfortable seats out there.
    Also, I gotta say, when I got to LAX I decided to bypass the new Skyclub and go to the old one. Yes, the new Skyclub is one of the best. I agree. But……because it’s now the one most people choose, the other Skyclub was practically empty! I pretty much had it all to myself! All the food, drinks, empty showers and bathrooms. I thought it was great!
