- Yes, I've heard the song before, but I haven't seen a live performance....that I can remember. Which honestly doesn't mean I haven't. Anyway, this was fun. It is very MISA focused....which is fine!

MISA is a rockstar in the most pure old-school way. Also a fuckin incredible bassist... no surprises here lol
But i think maybe Miku is the definition of a 21st century rockstar. A real entertainer, funny, charismatic, a bit weird... she's awesome. Well, all of them are awesome dammit!

I have found some images and live footage of Misa playing in a couple of pre Band Maid grunge bands in her late teens c2011-12. She looked so f'n cool even then. She was using her original Fender Jazz Bass at this time, so has had that guitar from the beginning. You are absolutely right about Miku- she is the rock that under pins everything that is good about this band- I thank God for her existance.
What I love about watching MISA play, especially when on the rail, is just how INTO her own music she gets. I know she's talked about being barefoot so that she can feel Akane's drums but when you stand in front of her for 2 hours you truly get a sense for just how much into she gets. Yes, true Rock Star and arguably one of the best bassists playing music currently.
Sadly this video doesn't do justice to her GOD TIER bass tone.
And this is one of my all time favorite Kanami guitar solos as well with the awesome descending intro from MISA.
I happened to watch Play from this same concert today. You can really hear MISA’s base in the recording and it’s incredible. She is a pure badass!

This band... it´s 2016 and you are only three years into the business, your main entertainer is a Japanese girl who has no idea of any language other than her own and you're touring the world in a van for the first time... that culture shock alone should be scary as hell. And yet there Miku was going to eat the world, whether she understood it or not. This girl packs more courage into her tiny body than a full light cavalry charge.
BTW: I love this voice quartet while MISA remains into their own perfect world... Thank you Ryan!!
I can't hear much more than Misa here, and I'm happy with that. The bass has always been my favourite instrument in a band and her thundering riffs always make me smile.

This video is very valuable a it shows all of them can sing if and when needed! It just proves the enormous potential of their still left unused, especially during live concerts!
Mika is completely carrying the boat here and that with a fairly simple continuous riff for her!

Always love seeing Kanami and Akane sing. They need to do more of that, even if it means not being as progressive as they are these days
As quick as they come out with new albums, I totally agree. I would be totally down for flipping between progressive and their older styling. Or just mix the album. I don't care. I just want Band-Maid however they decided to put out material.
Agreed, up until the acoustic concert, I think a lot of people didn't realize that all five of them can sing quite well.

For songs with no official video like Arcadia Girl or Yuragu, etc. that you can't find on other platforms, i.e. bili, vimeo, etc.: Up until about 2018-19, when they use to play all their songs exactly as recorded in the studio, I use to sync up the fan video with the album recording and, with a little mix from the live video for ambience, playback the fan vid with perfect sound. I did that for years and still occasionally do. In the last few years they seem to go off sync on a few songs, but it still works on others. Their older songs are 🔥🔥🔥.
Here's how to do it: Search out an old fan vid of say, YOLO in 2016: ua-cam.com/video/z5RqjJjotsA/v-deo.html and open it up in one window, and then grab their official release in another window (it can just be an album release with no vid): ua-cam.com/video/wKZbzcUdY1g/v-deo.html sync them up with a few clicks by counting off the initial beats, and wall-a... perfect audio with a live performance that didn't exist. Hearing Band-Maid with great sound is the Real Existence, right? 🤘🤣 Thx, Ryan!
its possibly cause Saiki was straining at this live perfomance. you can tell her throat was having a hard time on this one.

Love the tone on MISA's bass, and that was even before my favorite of hers, the Black Smoker. I remember reading that she is the only one not on the click trac, keeping in tune by instinct.

@@RyanMear It was said the only time MISA has used a click track was the Christmas Acoustic. She didn't have Akane's thundering drums AND she was wearing shoes.

According to several people in the Subreddit who saw the Ladies Dallas show, they had an issue with their backing track and all 5 of the ladies including MISA sang. I'm still hoping someone has a video of that.
It's pretty impressive just that all the members know all the words! Altho with this band I'm not surprised.

Been listening to BM for a month now. YURAGU is the song I keep going back to time and time again. Def my fav song, wish they play it live in the future or did a livestream version of it though
Of course Akane can sing. She can also fly and has several other superpowers.
Band-Maid seriously has a song for every sub-genre and era of rock you could possibly want to listen to. Their older stuff is just as good as the new. Can't wait for DC and Chicago. Taking my sister to DC. It'll be her first exposure to Band-Maid.

Japanese and Americans are so lucky to see them this year. When BAND-MAID is going to do an European tour, I swear I'm going to all the European dates 😄. I have to try to be placed on Kanami's side, then on MISA's side and on the center as well 😆.

I remember when I first watched this fan cam, running it through iMovie in an attempt to adjust the audio levels. Not really the way to do it but that is all I have. This track is a great demonstration of why so many comments consist of just three words: Misa, Misa, Misa. How lucky people are to have seen Band Maid at this stage of their career.

Very fun reaction, even with the sound being 90% bass. Algorithm then led me to an old reaction of yours to Anemone, which got me kinda choked up all over again. These ladies just keep doing it to you, even year after year. So awesome, and agree about it being hard to wait until October!! Seeing them in San Diego and Chicago!

Misa is a rockstar. They are all talented, as you already know. I haven't commented on their appearance because, to me the music is what is important, but, seeing this makes me realize that Misa is gorgeous. They are all pretty, but I recall one of the chats between Miku and Saiki where they even said that Misa was 'an asian beauty'. I never gave it much thought until now.

Hi, Mr.Ryan. I know that this is when Saiki was struggling with can out put her voice by polyp. Excuse me for Saiki but I love that also. Of course the current her voice too.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: People can argue there are better songs on this album all they want, but the best 60-70 seconds of that album is Yuragu from Kanami's solo through the double chorus. It's the highlight of the entire album IMHO. Nothing is more fun on this album than that minute of rock bliss.
That's my only "gripe/complaint" about these ladies.... that the other 3 don't get more involved in the vocal dept. We all know they can sing (Xmas Acoustic). Whether it's because of workload or confidence, who know's. but what it would do is put another great string to this impressive bow that shoot's out killer songs.
From the Brand New Maid album 2016. But this show could be from around 2015/16 from the guitars being used. Misa has a G&L, used very briefly during this period and just before she got her first Black cloud.

First time I have ever seen Misa's amp loaded with water instead of whiskey! This is truly a great song, too bad the quality of this recording was so low. Like the famous 'Rock in Me' video that was a late, LATE encore, this is awesome!
That's Band-Maid for ya; even their poor quality B-side is better than what anyone else has to offer.

Miku's such a great entertainer! About stage rig: on tour abroad, they usually only take their guitars and rent the amps - that's why Misa has an Ampeg, and Miku a Marshall. I hope they'll be able to tour with their own gear in the US, as it is a rather long tour. Other bands tend to use digital modelers, like Bridear.
I'm not sure if they want to take the import duties hit for the rest of their gear. However I hope they have reached accommodations with their equipment manufacturers so the could either rent or lease the same gear they normally use. It's my understanding that is why Akane only takes her modeler, snare and cymbals and front drum head for the kick drum with her on tour. Or at least she did for the European tour. They rented a kit for her like they did when Kanami's guitar got sent to Moscow.

She's a serious rockstar like no other... and MISA... she's the awesome darkstar rockstar... and so is Akane -- she's an exploding neutron rockstar from another galaxy... and Miku, she's a massive supernova rockstar... but really, Kanami is THE Rockstar Goddess, isn't she?! And, well... Ryan, you're a star, too... like a bright light in the dark sky of dumb, dreary reactors. Come to think of it... we're all rockstars in one way or another! 💫 Well, unless you're one of those black hole people that suck energy. 🕳

MISA being a rock star is not surprising since she had been in a band rock before, while the rest of them came from Jpop background,

A very early one - Miku with Rick and Kanami Adictone (I think). Apart from Jack Bruce and Cream I can't think of a bassist who had so much influence on the overall sound as Misa and Band Maid. A wonderful band, wonderful Kanami and Misa the rock star.
