Bandmaid songs basically punch you in the face with their structure and dynamic features.....and when they end you are smiling and wanting more.....Eddie VH tapping you say.....buckle up and go with onset(instrumental) or blooming
You good sir are unknowingly on the launch pad to ecstasy. You haven't even heard them live yet and, well, words don't do them justice so I'll let your ears tell the tale. Live vids: Domination; Puzzle; Freedom; good start Instrumentals: Gotta hear at least one blow your ass away; From Now On; Onset; Without Holding back Other must see MV's: Daydreaming; Blooming; WHY WHY WHy ; good start there I actually envy you but we Maidiacs know we can live vicariously to new fans reactions so welcome aboard.
Thank you! I just saw that they had been in Dallas back in 2022. Wish I had known about them and I would have gone to see them since I am just down the road.
Thrill is really what kick-started Band-Maid's journey to become a hard rock band. The group started in 2013, but a year before Thrill dropped in 2014 and received over two million views in the first weeks of release on Facebook, the Maids hadn't played much rock music at all. And the 2nd guitarist, founder and lyricist, Miku, didn't even know how to play guitar. It's an incredible story and we are so lucky they stayed together during those early years to become, in my mind (and ears), the best hard rock band on the planet! Thx, Coach!
Ooooh, this makes me nostalgic! Misa with shoes! Miku pretending to play! Akane with Tiny-hat San! Saiki hugging the mic as to comfort her. Kanami... well, she's always been bada*s. Just imagine how long they've come since then! GO GO MAIDS! 😎🤘
Just great straight four ROCK!!! This video was released in 2014 on Facebook, then carried to UA-cam where they receive over 1M views in a very short period and it saved them from obscurity since their record company was ready to drop them if things didn't improve. Well 10 years later it's obviously this video saved them.....and that's why this song will always be #1 with me. ......ALWAYS!
Same here. It is a good song. And ... it is the reason we have BAND-MAID at all. So, it is a bit emotional. Then, I have to admit that they have grown. This is quite simple. But catchy.
Gotta agree with garymayes1138 - "Onset" live off of their UA-cam channel. Musicianship at it's greatest ... an it's live. Forget about the costumes and the language barrier, these guys are flawless in every aspect of the word.
This was my first exposure to Band Maid. My life hasn’t been the same since. Love the music. Love these Maids. “DICE,” official music video will be a nice follow up. Similar structures to this song with the bass feature into guitar solo. Band Maid never repeats verses, always writing songs with the professional listener in mind. Same with drums. Akane has just a standard kit, but makes it sound massive. “DICE” reintroduces those hair metal vibes, but the song is far more complex. Even the lyrics are poetic and philosophical.
Yep, you can't go wrong with Band-Maid. I've been head banging for over 50 years, these ladies are all pure talent....they are on the top of my favorites list. Great summary and reaction, Band-Maid serving us up live performances are a must for your future reactions in my opinion. Oh, for a very heavy version of Band-Maid I would suggest 'Moratorium' live...super heavy and very metal.
This was first released on a 3-song single "Ai to Jōnetsu no Matador" (Love, Passion, Matador) released in 2014 along with a 3rd song "Summer Drive". That song and Matador were added to the 2018 re-release of the 1st album, Maid in Japan. Their agency was considering breaking them up, but let them do their 1st MV and they chose Thrill which was the hardest song they had at the time. A Western Facebook page that covered Japanese rock posted the video and it went viral among overseas rock music fans. And it saved the band. We learned later that the agency was thinking of the turning the two under-contract singers (Saiki and Miku) into a song & dance duo and firing the rest. Maid in Japan is more pop-punk than hard rock but still enjoyable.
Great comments! "Thrill" was a song I first heard almost eight years ago, and it hit me as hard then as it just hit you. At that time, Band-Maid had only a few songs on UA-cam and only a handful of reactors had commented on any of their videos. However, I became infatuated with the band and marveled over their subsequent music releases which demonstrated their incredible talent and skill. After years of indifference, my interest in music was rekindled thanks to them and I bought my first album in decades as a result. While there are currently many great bands out there, Band-Maid is still my top favorite go-to when I want to listen to incredibly amazing music which puts me in precisely the right mood at the right time.
For me, still perhaps the best song for newcomers (like me back then) to get drawn into the world of Band-Maid. Not too crazy or playful but still straight forward Rock 'n' Roll with that the right amount of spice from the vocals and that bass and guitar solo. 🔥🤘🏻 Your mention of "Attitude" sums it up pretty well imo. _____________________ _"America invented rock. England improved it. And now, Japan has perfected it."_ ※ Band-Maid ※ Gacharic Spin ※ Lovebites ※ Nemophila ※ East of Eden ※ Hanabie ※ Asterism ※ Trident ※ etc.
Impressed by all the key elements of the Band Maid sound that you brought up. Prior to Thrill, they were doing pop/rock, and pop/punk style. Thrill is solid rock. Try Alone next. It is the first band written song they recorded.
Alone is their declaration of independence. It's a very important song where they started to control their own music, and the guitar solo in this song is my favorite. 3,2,1 go!
Hola!! Si te sumerges en su océano es posible que ya no quieras volver a la superficie, avisado estás. Se necesitan horas, días, meses y años para descubrir todo lo que en él se esconde. Palabra de "¡¡ BANDMAIDHEAD !!"
I recommend Onset, Without Holding Back, and From Now On. At their live performances, instrumental music is played during the vocal breaks, and you can see what the band is doing behind the vocals. You can listen to a very sophisticated rock quartet. Onset has a live version and a white room version. This is a must-see masterpiece. Without Holding Back is all performed in a white room. A very funky bass is impressive. From Now On you can hear very intense drums and guitar. Following these, there are many songs recommended by Maidiac, let's enjoy Saiki's wonderful vocals.
Great reaction, really loved the extensive breakdown at the end. Really shows how much time you spent on learning about the band and listening to the song and the effort you put into your work. Impressive. I’m a Maidiac so I love Band Maid and I really enjoy this song. It holds a special place in our hearts as it’s the song that went viral and saved the band from being dropped by their label. It also convinced management to let them push into harder rock (they were more pop/punk on their first album)
If this, their very first OMV, had not gone viral their label would have dropped them. If you want to see how far they've come in the last decade check out the LIVE version.
Great reaction and loved your analysis. This was their first music video and with a massive on-line response on Facebook, helped save the band. For their very first band composed song that their label accepted, "Alone" is another great song that shows the beginning of the unique sound and also a MV.
Definitely recommend Blooming after this, one of my favorites and some really impressive playing. Of course I don't believe you've done a live video yet which I highly recommend. No God live (the newer of the two videos) or Puzzle are both great options and you will see they are just unbelievably good live.
Add 9 more years and 100 songs experience to them now. They're brilliant. Alone was the first song that was all them. They shine live. Their genre is Band-Maid.
You'll be happy to know they have a cataloge of 120+ songs and you won't find a bad one. Just some you'll like less than others. 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘You can ask a hundred different fans to give you a top 10 list, and everyone will be different ! Since you like this song try " Bubble, " MV. " DICE, " MV. or " Real Existence, " live.
I like Band Maid and i enyoi watching quality reactions of their music as they give me a new perspective every time. Good reason for subscribing. good work. Can't wait for next.
With no disrespect to Saiki I will suggest these two instrumental songs from their YT channel: FROM NOW ON and ONSET-LIVE. I'll put them up against any of your favorite instrumentals. Challenge accepted? Peace. 791
BAND MAID - japan's finest hard rock outfit for the last 10 years. i own their entire discography - which is a lot. found them in 2016 by chance of a youtube suggestion and what a glorious find. i am 70 and grew up with every band you can name since about '59 on up. now for japan's best all female metal band LOVEBITES is a band you do NOT want to pass up. since early 2017 also with numerous releases of nothing but epic songs. the live version of the song 'holy war' from tokyo will melt your entire body. 2 lead guitarists that equal or surpass anything i've heard in the last 30 years. link : ua-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/v-deo.html

I'm glad you liked that track, it's amazing!. Glad that I was one of those who suggested it in your Warning! reaction. If you want to see them live might I suggest Domination Live or a totally different side with their unplugged version of Sayonakidori. Either way, great reaction and keep rocking!
@@TheMetalCoach- you won't be disappointed. Band-Maid is my favorite but the Japanese all female metal bands are also fire. Lovebites (power/speed/other) and Hanabie (pure metal with a cute screamer), Nemophila (pure metal and some covers - another vocalist/screamer)
Great reaction and an excellent analysis..! Kanami's tapping ability really shines in their official music video 'Blooming", and they'll punch you in your face with their live performance of 'Dice' and 'Hate?' live at Lollapalooza 2023.. new sub here..!
band maid🤘... but as usual whenever i saw people do a reaction to japanese band i would recommend them to check LOVEBITES (only if they never heard it) coz no way we talk about japanese rock or metal band nowaday without including LOVEBITES
Even though they didn't write any songs on this album they made it theirs every song on here is a banger try freezer or shake that akane goes bananas on this one

It is good. Great audience contact.) * Freedom (Drum solo) * From now on (Instrumental show off) * Manners and Black Hole (a combo. This version of Manners is 200% bass driven by MISA. Black Hole is pure chaos, can be difficult to get into at first.) * Without holding back (Instrumental show off)
Nice review. Love Band Maid. One of my favorite Japanese bands, which of course includes One Ok Rock, Wagakki and Hanabie, all very innovative and great writers. So far you have reviewed two of my least favorite Band Maid songs. They are definitely best live, so seek out the official live cuts, and this is also true of all of my favorite Japanese bands. Their personalities and best cuts come out on the live stage. Strongly suggest Domination (live) and the double-song live set of Manners and Black Hole (showing their wide range).
