Getting through this whole game without any way to save your progress was a daunting task back in 1993, but I managed to pull it off as a kid back then by spending a whole Saturday playing!
I did the same thing together with my dad. He would draw maps even and leave the combat to me. Took us about 8 hours straight on a rainy sunday to beat the game.
I love this game! I remember beating it a long time ago. I woke up for school to a snow day. Then and there I decided to spend that day finally beating this game. It took ALL day, no internet, no magazine, no guide; just my 10 year old self and determination.
I tried and tried but didn't speak English at all which made this almost impossible I'm playing it now with my son and am determined to finally beat it

Fun fact: my first dinosaur dig - I'm a paleontologist - was working for Dr. Horner in Montana - 11 years after I played this game as a child and saw Jurassic Park in theaters, I was in Montana digging up dinosaurs and sitting around a campfire with Jack Horner. It was pretty epic, if I would call anything that.
I don’t know about “day and night”, but I find myself putting on a random episode as white noise from time to time while doing other work or chores etc

Wow, some real old memories unlocked! I remember having this game and playing all the time at my Grandma's house. I don't think I even understood how to beat the game, I just wandered around trying to kill the dinosaurs. Maybe it's time I go back to it with the help of this video. Awesome work as always!
Yeah, this game was a ball buster for sure. My brother got this when I was in high school. He wasn't too interested in it, so I played. I finally got fed up and sat down on Saturday and beat it. What the hell were they thinking not having a password or battery backup?
@@garyhall7867 You said it, heck to help I went so far as to map most of the interior areas making note of where things were, as well as what key cards were needed and where and finally where the night vision was needed. I bet the sound mixed with the Doom / Quake ect. art style made this scarier than most games there was some parts as a kid I had to play with sound off it scared me so much. The 1st person parts are terrifying. 😮

Thank you for your videos! Just had to get towed and car worked on this morning out of nowhere and coming home to de-stress with this really helps. Thanks alot!
Also, thank you for the explanation of the letters for Dr. Jack Horner. He wrote the book "How to Build a Dinosaur" that Jurassic Park was spawned from. I never knew what those letters were.
Their vision is based on movement. Which is why you can take time to line up a rocket launcher! But seriously, good video as always. The quality's been getting better with each one.
All I can say is thank you as thanks to you I managed to complete this game on the PlayStation 5 I’ve got a silver and gold trophy now and even though I am 44 years old I don’t think I could’ve completed the game nowadays without your assistance let alone 30 years ago
Your channel is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Your consistency and quality is incredible. Sure I'll never play this game, but I'll enjoy the video.
I would love for there to be a fan sequel to this game in a retro style, faster paced interior sequences more in line with the original PC Doom, more dinosaurs and locations, more weapons, actual boss fights, secrets. There's so much that can be done here, I really like the non-linear structure of it. Love this game but it definitely has a lot of untapped potential. For anyone playing this game today, I recommend bsnes/snes9x with their overclock settings, keeping the speed intact but making the interior sections super smooth compared to 15fps or whatever the framerate is originally. (personally use a Pi4 RGB Scart setup for playing it on a CRT with the original controller and everything, Pi4 handles this game perfectly and does hi-res blending without breaking a sweat, older pi models won't handle it too well because of that).
I love this game! It was my 1993 xmas gift. Despite i had a videogame magazine walkthrough, i wasn´t able to beat de game. Always got stuck in the raptors nest gas delivery: got there but, somehow the gas wasn´t automatic thrown... that haunted me for years. Eventually i beat it using emulators but will always remember it as one of the most challenging games i had in the 90´s.
That and a little more in game direction. In The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, people in the game would tell you where you needed to go to accomplish each goal. This game just says, "Grant turn on the power", or worse, "Grant, stop the raptors from entering the visitor center", to which naturally people will respond by going to the visitor center instead of the raptor pen. So much time wasted needlessly wandering around.
I found that secret room in the east mountains by accident as a kid. It's the first place I go whenever I start the game just for all the extra lives and ammo.
Man, I remember dedicating an entire weekend to this game when I was a kid…and we still never beat it. Me, my brother and our two friends, could not together beat it. This game is a genuine challenge.

We got this game for Christmas 1994 after playing the Sega version at my cousin's house. We loved the Sega game and I was initially so disappointed that this one was different that I barely played it for months. But it grew on me after a while. I remember playing it for hours and getting lost in the first person areas, but never coming close to beating it.
I remember playing this game back in 2001-2002. I was never able to beat this game, maybe the short time I was holding this cartridge, or maybe I didn't get too much into it. Thank you for making this video. The music was the thing I like a lot of.
I watched three videos of yours now of games that I couldn’t beat back when I was a kid, but I really liked them. I’ll never play them now but it’s really cool to see the game finished. Lol. Thank you and your doggie for all the hard work you two do.

The DRHORNER message was part of a contest. I think it was mentioned in the manual or box but I can't remember the details. Also fun fact: The original US manual for the game had screenshots and mechanics for the game computers that were not in the release version of the game.
I love how in the movies, you can count the number of dinosaurs killed by people on one hand but in most of the games, you just commit mass Dino-genocide. Like, in this game, Dr. Grant is I Am Legend's Robert Neville to prehistoric life.
Thank you for playing this. I remember this game terrifying me as a kid. I could never get past the second dungeon without quiting out of fear of getting eaten by a dinosaur
These videos are some of my favorite things about Saturdays. Really brings me back to my childhood days but even more so because of all the details I never knew about these games. Thanks for all the effort you put into these!
I love that you decided to make a guide for this game. One of the games I played a lot of as a teenager and I mostly remember having to leave my SNES on for days because there was no save feature. Also, I have fond memories of the elevator music... the only time I felt safe playing the game.
I was just looking for a good playthrough of this game last week. Then I see you did it now. The last video is like 8years ago and terrible quality. Glad you did this thanks!
Hey man thank you so much for this guide. I've been using it to playthrough the recent ps5 release now that there's save states. I like that you take time to explain things and show where things are because the written guides are kind of hard to follow. I def could have used this in 1998 when i was trying to get through the whole game one day before losing power.
Reading your comment made me go "oh shoot, that would've been upsetting." Then I noticed your name and laughed out loud (on the toilet, for the curious). 😅

I rented this from a Rogers Video back in 1998, my brother and i were so lost and confused wandering around the map dying constantly. Had to ask dad for help…. Lol We ended up taking it back in favour of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Fighting Edition
Just used your walkthrough to get trophies for the PS4 & PS5 versions of the Jurassic Park Classic Collection. Thanks for the detailed and easy walkthrough.
It's funny. I tried playing this a few months ago and was like "why did I put up with this game??" But somehow, watching you play it brought the magic back. :) Might give it another try...
I love that Ian Malcom’s chaos theory equations in the chapter breaks of the original novel appear as animated backgrounds when you use a computer terminal. The roar of the raptors used to terrify me as a kid! Lol Another killer episode from my favorite UA-cam gamer!
My memories lied to me! I always heralded the two greatest weapons as the rocket launcher and the tranquilizer, the only two weapons capable of putting down every enemy with a single shot, though tranqs weren't kills... and then i remember having to rush through nightvision areas because of constantly depleting battery that you had to refill while you were in it... and then, i remember there being a timer after you set the nerve gas that you have to escape from the island before it ticked out... or maybe it was just getting out of the raptor nest? That was so many years ago. I also don't remember being able to carry more than the starting ammunition for any weapon so i found myself constantly having to use whatever weapon was available
Escaping the raptor nest or island entirely under timer sounds like you might be merging memories of the SNES Jurassic Park game with elements from the NES Jurassic Park game and/or the SNES sequel game Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues.
1:19:49 - Oh, so you did point out the "spitter into raptor" glitch trick, huh. I always thought you had to use the tranquillizer darts to do the trick, but apparently, the shotgun shells can do it as well. Sweet!!! 😎 I doubt the gas grenades can do it, because the glitch requires a fiery explosion, and the gas grenades produce a smoky explosion upon impact.
This was one of the games that I rented so often that my parents should have just pulled the trigger and bought it. Using the snes mouse was pretty cool, though i remember the controller being easier to use for those first person sections.
I think the irony would've been purchasing it, and having you beat it the following weekend. Perhaps renting was for the best...I once had to choose between Final Fight 3 and DKC2 (was told I could have a game for my birthday). Rented FF and beat it same day. Decided on Kong Quest - took eons (it felt) to complete and the much better choice in retrospect.
Do you stream on Twitch or anywhere - I bet you could get more following - Love your shows :) - waiting for part two on the dragon warrior 2 :) - best wishes !
Nice Episode. Love the Jurassic Park franchise. Thanks for doing these every week. I'm surprised you didn't do the Top Gun game for the NES when the new movie came out. Maybe next Saturday? Fingers crossed.
Question concerning the ship. I remember almost beating this twice as a kid and while I was clearing out rooms on the ship there was a bug in the game where if I walked into a room, I'd get stuck. You couldn't move. Is that something you've dealt with? I didn't see you have any problems and I didn't hear you mention it.
I needed this video to exist and it was perfect for me. This style of video game videos, is very calming and stress-reducing for me. Thank you so much for making this video. (I also enjoyed it enough that I subscribed and this is the first video I've seen by you.)
The soundtrack to this game was my own personal hell (but I loved it. I still catch myself humming the outside theme or the elevator theme). It's the one game I couldn't beat. I would get everything done up until the helipad and just lose it. I'd search the underground with night vision, go back and run from the t-rex 100 times teying to see if i missed anything and...nothing...I couldn't find the last keycard. I'm gonna learn and then immediately boot it up and try again. I still have my original SNES and the Jurassic Park game, along with DK Country 1/2/3, Al Uncer Jr's: Pike's Peak and so many others. Edit: all these years later and it was a CRATE??!?!! A crate. I told my mom because we tried for YEARS to beat the game and we walked by that crate a million times. A crate.
The sections of walls you can clip through and get stuck in the ship's hidden area were always the death of me for this game. You'd tap one and never be able to get out again =/ My brother finally beat it so I could see the ending.

It's funny. I tried playing this a few months ago and was like "why did I put up with this game??" But somehow, watching you play it brought the magic back. :) Might give it another try...
I remember renting this from Blockbuster. Another one in the pile of games that I couldn't beat as a kid, mainly because of the lack of a save feature
I love that Ian Malcom’s chaos theory equations in the chapter breaks of the original novel appear as animated backgrounds when you use a computer terminal.
The roar of the raptors used to terrify me as a kid! Lol
Another killer episode from my favorite UA-cam gamer!
I owned this game as a kid and it terrorized me! I never did beat it. I made it pretty far but could never get over the hump.
It's funny how a lot of the dinosaurs in the first-person areas just look at you like a deer-in-the-headlights instead of attacking.
I always thought that was really creepy. When I was a kid the dark rooms were very unnerving.
It was scary enough didn't need to be even more intense. lol
Subscribed and liked. Thanks for helping me beat this game!
Ya might be right about that, i did play the second one too after all...
The thing I wait for every Saturday morning.
It's my favorite time of the week! Thanks, Kylo!
This game offered some very unique mechanics. Played it for the first time at my cousins finished it that weekend
Super cool! Can’t wait to try out this game with my son after we watch this together!
You’re an awesome dad.
1:19:49 - Oh, so you did point out the "spitter into raptor" glitch trick, huh.
I always thought you had to use the tranquillizer darts to do the trick, but apparently, the shotgun shells can do it as well. Sweet!!! 😎
I doubt the gas grenades can do it, because the glitch requires a fiery explosion, and the gas grenades produce a smoky explosion upon impact.
had it as a kid, never got very far, but man,, those dinosaurs went BOOM!
Bro, your content is just awesome!
Anyone else here make it a habit to click the thumbs up on the video in time with the "meow" at the end of the intro jingle, or is that just me >.>
I do, except I report for terrorism
How could this game lack the biggest star of the Movie, Lex Murphy!? D:
Also why did the game never let us shoot Dennis with the Rocket Launcher...?
Do you stream on Twitch or anywhere - I bet you could get more following - Love your shows :) - waiting for part two on the dragon warrior 2 :) - best wishes !
I was thinking about playing this again just hours before I saw the video come out.
Nice Episode. Love the Jurassic Park franchise. Thanks for doing these every week. I'm surprised you didn't do the Top Gun game for the NES when the new movie came out. Maybe next Saturday? Fingers crossed.
Thanks for ALWAYS giving a history lesson before you start playing on every game you play! Keep up the great work!! 👏🏼

Under rated game. Loved this as a kid but never beat it. I was just trying to get my copy back to follow along with a gamefaq but this is much better!
I needed this video to exist and it was perfect for me.
This style of video game videos, is very calming and stress-reducing for me. Thank you so much for making this video.
(I also enjoyed it enough that I subscribed and this is the first video I've seen by you.)
aw yeah, i remember this game. had no idea wtf i was doing back then when i played it as a kid. damn that music though, so good
Same here and agreed!
A crate.
Thanks for the video, UCBVG! I just realized that Timmy's advice was misleading just like Dennis' 🦖
The music in this game is so good
Been waiting on this one!!!
I remembered owning this game back in the day. I honestly really loved it.
I spent hours watching my friend play this game and we never finished it. Thank you for some closure haha. Great video as always!
Great vid. Ian Malcolm was also the main character of the book The Lost World.
21:12 I knew "raptor" meant "thief" but I never knew they committed identity theft too!
The sections of walls you can clip through and get stuck in the ship's hidden area were always the death of me for this game. You'd tap one and never be able to get out again =/ My brother finally beat it so I could see the ending.
thanks for walkthrough, saved a lot of time for me
The game was really good.
If only they had a save feature, it would’ve been remembered more foundly.
