The Navage Nasal System is a fantastic product for sinus relief. However, its great downfall is the it forces you to use its proprietary pods instead of making your own saline solution.
If you want to use your own powder or sinus rinse packs in a navage, this is how you do it! You can either use an existing pod, or you can use a narrow zip tie. Then, you can use your own salt pot in your own navage sinus machine.
If you're asking yourself, "Can I use my own solution in Navage" or perhaps you want to know if you can use Navage without pods... then this video has the answer for you! :)

I just super glued both of the buttons in the down position and it has worked that way for years.
Genius! ❤
just need to be careful superglueing it in down position, not in up position 😂
American ingenuity at its finest!
I would be concerned about the toxins from the glue. Maybe you should try another solution.
@@dontaesmith5241 jesus its just a little bit of glue relax LMFAOO
I hate when companies do that, I normally avoid those types of products with there overly priced proprietary crap, but this one slipped by. Soooo I got my device about 30 minutes ago, realized they were doing the (Keurig or GL refrigerator water filter) stick it to the customer thing and immediately went online to find a hack and here I am.
I will not pay for product that do this, and if they sneak one by me then I will never pay for their "refills, my fridge and Keurig are both hacked too, thanks for the video!
I'm with you. I used mine, but am thinking about returning on Amazon for this reason alone even though I've found the way around it with this video
I'm the same way. I hacked my soda stream I got as a gift because I didn't want to keep overpaying for the cartridges.
I came here because mine misfired. I did everything right yet it denied me.
I respect people like you that show the world improvements to avoid costly recurring items, for that you have gained a thumbs up and subscriber! Thanks for the education, I have been looking to get one of these and watching this, maybe I will. Reminds me of those k-cups lol
The cutting off the plastic from the pod worked like a charm. Thank you. I had a 250 pack of premixed packs I can now use.
I have always made my own mix for the last 15 years. I use organic baking soda, and kosher salt.
@@bobsoft can you share the mix quantity's? please
@@spaztic1 I use 250ml water (boiled or distilled) 1/2 tsp sea salt, 1/8 tsp organic baking soda.
There are more methods. Some might be simpler.
1. Once you close the lid with the first pod. Never open the lid again. It works infinite times.
2. Open the top blue portion entirely, not the lid. Pour your NielMed cheaper powder on the base white plastic of the top half. Close the blue portion.
3. Pour the water right on the back lip of the lid. It's not water tight. You might lose a little bit water but it will fill up.
Voila! Works everytime.
Another method is to remove and fill the top blue thing and close the Nevage upside down. Fill slightly more than you need to compensate for leakage. This is just very slightly messier (like you might spill two spoons of water). Never open the lid after the first pod in this method too.
Third method is to drill a hole right up top and use that to fill instead of the lid. Entirely avoid their limiting factor of lid buttons after satisfying it once.
Drill? This thing is over 100 bucks...
Yes, dril a little hole and fill it like a steam iron
@@avz1153 I'm not telling you to run it over by a truck. Drilling a hole on the top doesn't impact its functionality at all. If anything, it enhances the use-case and helps you save money.
I also offered two other non-invesive options. Try those.
Awesome! Thank you!!
I’d just caution to be careful since it might be pretty difficult to clean properly if that lid isn’t opened. bacteria growth and such in the lid portion, particularly if it can’t dry properly
I knew that there had to be some way of tricking my Navage. The problem I was having was that some of the Navage brand Pods were defective and didn't work. Each time that would happen, it meant a loss of money. Now, I can get around that. Thank you so much! 👍🏽
I rolled & molded a piece of foil about 2 inch & placed over tiny button in the chamber. It Works!!!
Did mine with the zip tie yesterday then lower the top half way and push the upper button. Works great and thanks for sharing.
Received my Navage today and saw your vid and tried it. It works perfectly. Thank you so much for sharing!
Just tried the first method and it works! Thank you so much I saved money by using my old salt packs
Many Thanks For This Advice ! You Explained and Showed What To Do Perfectly . Take Care
It works! And they are made of a very durable material. I was always worried about foil pieces of the pods getting into the saline.
what needs to be done is design a 3d print of the ring that satisfies the bottom button and then will arch up and when the top is closing it will provide resistance and trigger the top button.
I would buy that ring off anyone whom has a 3D printer!! 😊
@@doeeyeddevil4896 I’m going to print something and see if I can get it to work and then I’ll buy some of those saline packets and save money. I’m down to a pack of salt pods and they were 13 dollars each. It’s easy to make a ring to fit because you can take a pic of the shape of the pod and convert it to a printable file.
@@E85_STIKeep us posted, I’ll buy one off you.
@@E85_STIdid you end up printing it?
Any luck printing one? I'll pay
Thank you. As someone with late at night post nasal drip problems and a Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker (AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!) I love beating the system.
Thank you for showing us this. This will help a lot of people! You are awesome
Ahhhhh amazing, thank you. I had tons of Neil med packets and no way to use them!
Thank you so much for making this video! It really helped!
So now I can modify my navage. Thanks for the tip you hack.
Much thanks! I thought there had to be a way to fool the Navage so, rather than figure it out myself, I came to UA-cam and found your video. I didn't cut the top of the plastic away but it still worked like a charm.
Thank you!! I made the mistake of re-opening the lid today before rinsing and thought I had broken my navage. Then come to find out, it won't work without a fresh one? I didn't want to waste it and this helped perfectly for that. Now that I know I can use it with cheaper solutions, I'm gonna be looking into that for sure! Thanks!
thanks for the great hack. this is the only reason I have not purchased one yet, the expensive refills!
Brilliant!!! Bravo!💝 Thank you so much!
Option 1 worked so Thank you!! I use distilled water with a few drops of ACV 😌
You're so smart. I'm glad I saw your video.
THANK YOU! Bravo 👏
Anyone considering this product that has tried others without success, THIS one will work. A good indication is how much this company knows they can charge for the pods..
the american healthcare system, they know people need something so they charge a shit ton D:
@@derke123 pathetically sad and true!
Thank you! I knew I’d find a hack here!
That first method worked! Wow!
A hero we dont deserve :) Thanks!
Thank you it works beautifully
Thank you! Hack worked perfect!!!!
I do something like that with my Keurig 2.0. Thanks for this video ❤
Thanks, worked for me.
Just simply THANK YOU!
This video put a smile in my 💰 account! 👍 👍 👍
Brilliant! I really like this unit but being forced to buy their stoopid pods is crazy. That said I love the functionality. It is better than a neti pot or the other devices as it does a good job clearing the salt water after the rinse!
Thank you so much!!!! No more expensive Navage pods! Lol
FYI 2 years of use and the Navage has broken down. It works great when it works. The problem with the device is over time the sinus rinse solution gets past the pump and down into the motor. This causes the top bearing in the motor to corrode and stop the motor from spinning.
The silicone pieces do work. I just tried the neilmed pack and mixing it in the machines container but i think it's not quite portioned right as I feel congested after using it whereas before with the pods that didn't occur. I put slightly more water in the container than the line because the pods are supposed to mix with 7.75 oz but the packet is meant for 8 oz of water.
This is amazing because I live in Europe and my only option to order salt pods is to get them from the US, which is wildly inefficient (and costly). Chuffed!
Thank you so very much!!
Thank you for this
THANK YOU A MILLION
Thank you!
Big thanks!
Thank you so much
You’re my hero!!!
thanks for the video 💋
Love it!
Thanks that worked
I wonder if you could easily crack open the plastic case and just wire the button to bypass the “safety” switches for the pod
I was wondering how to get past the switching mech if you open the lid prematurely. I didnt know about the TOP button that needs to be pressed. I pressed the top button while an empty pod was in place and it working like a charm. Really no need to slice the pod just push the "reset" button under the lid.
Excellent idea!!
Thank u!!!
Amazing!
thank u...
One thing to consider is that if the white mechanism isn't rinsed with warm water after use, salt builds up in some of the moving parts and the on button will not function. I thought mine broke and was ready to take it back until i read this in the fine print somewhere.
Compare to other advisers this way much easier, only need to understand the button need to keep before click then release.
Thank you .it actually work👍🙈
ty
On point ☝️
Best investment i ever made was suppise to have nadal surgery but in 2020 they stopped all surgeries the va i seen the navage wasnt sure about it but was desperate i bought one so glad i did dont need surgery now.
Something good came if the scamdemic after all! I dont trust the medical field or mainstream media at all anymore!
THX
I don't have one but wonder if you could just super glue the buttons in the depressed position? Super glue and baking soda makes a rock hard combo if it needs a little beefing up.
@@honestvalue7368 Super Glue is waterproof, including saltwaterproof, and can even be applied underwater. Aquarium enthusiasts (myself included) use it to glue plants and coral fragments to rocks.
You could try filling an empty pod with hot glue.
I say..."YES!" and thank you.
There is an alternate accessory for the navage system. It's so amazing. Get the accessories and you can use your favourite packet.
Link?
I'm going to call you Mr.$$$AVER! THANK YOU for sharing!!
you rock
I wonder if you could just super glue the bottom button in since it doesn’t have a reset like the top one. I may try and report back
Came here after inserting a salt pod in my Navage, and then closing it before I realized I hadn't added water. Opened it, added water, reclosed it and no go, the button wouldn't push. Wasting a salt pod pissed me off. And this also happens when the battery dies. You waste a salt pod.
Great idea, thanks for the tip. Now do you have any tips for using this machine, example's, how do you keep water from coming out of you're eye's, ear's and mouth?
If that's something that's happening to you, I'd see a medical professional!
@@MediocreCoffee I don't have one yet, that's what I see happening on most of the videos I watch. Thank you
Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth the entire time (2 minutes). It keeps the water from following down into your mouth and it flows down into the lower chamber with ease.
The greatest thanks so kind human))))))
You smart! lol thank you for the cash savings 🤑
So strange this vacuum method is not popular. Back in my country doctors are using it (This method was invented by Arthur walter Proetz - 1888-1966) and it is really helpful. It is called "cuckoo bird". During procedure you need to say "cuckoo" so the water doesn't go to your throat.
You are a beautiful, wonderful man 😂
Seriously, thank you!!!!
You're most welcome!
I was seriously thinking of getting this (or the Sinupulse) but the fact that you HAVE to use their pods for the machine to work at all? I despise manufacturers who do this and will immeidately start looking for alternative fare. (Electronics with 'proprietary this-and-that, I'm looking at you.)
You can also make your own saline powder with salt and baking soda. I forget the ratio but it’s very findable (I got it from my allergist). You can grind them down a little to make them dissolve faster.
Double hack. 😎
That's kinda genius
Great ideas but neither worked on mine
Wouldn't it also work if you just use the whole empty pod instead of having to cut the rim off? I would think that would take care of having the button on the upper part pressed in.
The button "crushes" the pod so that you need to use a fresh one.
Cutting the rim is preferable to me because you are supposed to rinse the unit after use... this way, you wouldn't need to worry about rinsing the pod.
But yes, what you suggested would also work!
cut open a new pod and fill with epoxy. or something that will take the shape and harden/not deform.
Great idea!
830pm: received unit
838pm: unboxed, assembled
840pm: watched "how to" videos
845pm: search youtube for "navage hack".
Thanks!!!!!!!
Were you watching me bc this is what I did!
so one standard neil med packet is enough for the hack? i think two would be better, considering the volume of water required for the navage tank
but i'm guessing.
Never had to use two, I expect most people use one.
Who does the Navage commercial?
There's a much easier more permanent solution that doesn't require any of that mess, and you can use the navage whenever, without having to put stuff in and then push the button on the lid. I found this out when my lid button would no longer pop out (after only 20 uses, becoming useless trash). Pulled it apart, found the 2 points that stopped the connection from being made, and bypassed them. Took about 5 minutes and all I have to do is pour in water and salt, and push the button, no other hassles.
Can you explain a bit? This seems interesting
do you warm the water up like a netti pot or just dump and go
I dump and go.
But, you didn't cover making the saline solution.
I've done this for years. Then I ran out of neilmed packets and had to use the pods. After using a few pods, that upside down button is now broken. I probably have to get a whole new navage!
Bummer! They arent cheap
Why not just buy more saline packets?
@@doeeyeddevil4896 they don't arrive until January 5th. But good news, that upside down button is working again so all is well
Make your own saline 250ml recently boiled water, 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Optionally 1/4 teaspoon of bicarb soda(if stings too much) and a couple of drops of no more tears baby shampoo. With the baby shampoo you can also add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil and shake to emulsify it into the solution.
what saline mix do you suggest? My ENT wants me to nettypot twice a day.
Most are very similar - anything at a local drugstore will do the trick.
Much easier to buy Fire Ant silicone salt pads from Amazon.
For the equivalent of using playdoh or wax, I just put a speck of hot glue on the button, no zip ties or salt pod rim needed. A speck of hot glue on the button where the bottom of the pod would be. The speck is like 2 or 3mm high. Now what do I do with these 19 salt pods? 🤭
Illl buy em off you! Lol
What is keeping you from using them?
@@showmespfldWhy would I use them when I can use liters of saline instead? 🤭
@eyekantbeme Why be wasteful? Use the 19 salt pods and then go back to using your liters of saline. You already have them, and they won't cost you more to use.
What about those little silicone pieces you stick right on the mechanism they're cheap and come in 10 packs. Did these not exist a year ago when this video was made??
The silicone pieces do work. I just tried the neilmed pack and mixing it in the machines container but i think it's not quite portioned right as I feel congested after using it whereas before with the pods that didn't occur. I put slightly more water in the container than the line because the pods are supposed to mix with 7.75 oz but the packet is meant for 8 oz of water.
@@rayw8252 Yeah I do feel it a tiny bit above the line as well almost to the brim when you close the lid. I usually put the distilled water in a cup that I have a line on fill it up to the line heat it up. Then put one of the salt packs in the water to dissolve before pouring in the machine. Seems to work well for me 👍 little silicone pieces are a bit picky at times You just got to pull it out and retry they seem to get squished down a bit if you leave the lid closed on them.
If u drink IPA, i owe you 1
I do! lol
Thank you. Paying $100.00 for the device itself is plenty. Hate having to put up with these greedy features on part of these manufacturers.
I do a lot of cocaine, and this has saved my nose.

Motor assisted
maybe you should mention
Huh???
0:55 *Info starts here*
Why can’t you just pull of the pierced foil and reuse the cup? I seems to me that the cup is pressing upon the second button. So why cut the cup off?
Good question! By design, the cup gets "crushed" so that you cannot use it to press the button again. By cutting it off, its not in the way, you can slip your finger under and press the button manually as you half-close the lid.
Why no sound?
Check your headphone lol, there is certainly sound.
So what are you using instead of the solution?
You can use warmed distilled water, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda
