@@richardcastle6169 I always had 25c GP5000 with mine, I believe they have the best transition with the wheel width. I would not go wider to prioritise aerodynamics
I'm so happy with your series on the velo build. There's a local firm with similar frames, I've been considering a new build, but can't decide between rim vs disc, because I have both, I preferred rim due to lightness, and ease of setup, disc due to most modern. Btw: I own 7 bikes! Mtb, road, & track! My wife doesn't mind, I met her in cycling club!🥂

Yes, maybe the Melee is a little bit darker. I will keep riding 23mm tyres with the Vision wheels, they have a perfect transition with them as they have 19mm internal and 25mm external width.
since this is a smaller frame, I would not cut it down ( slammed) to the same height as the old one. top tube length may also be shorter, so the positioning/ angles may be trickier than you expect. measure twice, cut once!
I know, I haven't cut it yet, but it's supposed to be extreme 😄

Seems like Velobuild really struggles with the rear triangle alignment. Your old frame clearly has an alignment issue and I've experienced the exact same with my Velobuild VBR-077 frame. Doesn't leave me very confident in their QC process considering misaligned frames like these are technically defective from the factory from what I know.
In my case the red and white frame seemed to have excess material on one of the chainstays. The frame was straight and handling was not affected, but the tyre was too close anyway. The silver frame is perfect.
@@fede1275 Were you able to ever resolve the issue? When I had been speaking to support, they wanted me to sand part of the chain stay drop out but wouldn't clarify further. Frame may be straight, but if the wheel is sitting closer to one side like that, there's an alignment issue, noticeable or not (Assuming your wheels are dished correctly, which they probably are).
Glad the newer frame is better though. I'm contemplating getting a 068 frame but still weary of getting another Velobuild. I also had major issues with shipping as they had sent me someone else frame originally and support was contacting me from 2 avenues, each saying to do something different regarding resolving it. Got my frame in the end but it was delayed, had poor QC, and overpaid duty charges due to originally receiving the wrong package.
@@ScottVanHorne I had the wheels redished and I got the Vision SC55 that have a narrow overall width, 25mm external and 19mm internal and I had 23mm GP5000 tyres. This way I could use the bike and I had very litte if any rubbing. Still it was bugging me a bit. Did not have a problem with shipping, when I ordered the new frame I asked them to check the width, not sure if they did, but the new frame turned up nice.
@@fede1275 In my case on the VBR077 I recieved, I was using Zonda C17 wheels (17mm internal, 22.5mm external) with a 25mm gp5000 that measured exactly 25mm wide when installed. I'm also a very light rider, so the bike isn't under much load, yet I still get rubbing.
That's a good idea asking beforehand though as silly as it sounds. Gotta tell them to double check or I'll PayPal chargeback next time.
