Winchester | Hampshire | A tour of the city

- See the locations and places of interest that my wife and I enjoyed as we explored Winchester.
The video records the places we visited and includes a little details of the locations. This video is not supposed to be an expert tour guide and, just as a personal record, is as accurate as I could make it for our own reference. The little maps are included to aid basic directions and to indicate locations of the places we visit relative to each other. I really do suggest that, if you wish to follow the route as it is shown, you make use of a proper map as well.
We had a lovely day out and I had the chance of exploring places that I had not seen before. I am sure my wife and I will return sometime to revisit some of these places and find other sights to see too.
Just a few days after our visit the weather turned very wet and, sadly, rather a lot of flooding was experienced in the city centre. The BBC news article, linked below, includes some photos of the streets full of water.

One of my most favourite towns and one I spent many happy times in when I was a child. I went to college nearby and later used to help put up the christmas lights in the town centre. It was rather fitting that it rained the day you visited St Swithun's. Thanks for sharing, I very much enjoyed the vid.

Really enjoyed the tour there. I was struck by how much there is to see in Winchester despite it being small than my home city of Hereford even. And it looks so beautifully kept. If I'm that way I'll be sure to pop in for a stroll. Many thanks. Mark

It was a fun day out - and the videoing was just an extra really. I wanted to avoid it spoiling a day out with my wife. But wow! it has now been seen over 1000 times and is my most-watched video. How funny is that! Take care, W :)
where did you stop for lunch?
Hi there, we stopped and looked in to several cafes and pubs and we chose "The Square" that time as there was space for us. With the very significant Covid restrictions going on at that time spaces were limited. We had a good lunch, sitting downstairs outside at the back in a little courtyard. I would recommend it although there are other good places too. Hope that helps, Cheers, W :)
