Linleys welcomes you! Thank you for looking at my UA-cam channel.
Hi, I'm Warren Brand. You will find there are several themes in the content here. You may wonder what the commonality is with them - these including model railways, trekking, walking, camping and general outside stuff. Well, it's just me! I have had a deep interest in all these for the larger part of my life - and I'm not a youngster any more.
May 2024 : My hat is wearing out. It won't last much longer. I have started a buymeacoffee.com/linleys page where, if you would like to, you could donate a small contribution to the cost of a new hat! Just an idea; by looking at my channel your support is much appreciated anyway.
I keep my video library organised with playlists and suitable titles and thumbnails.
I try and produce one video each week and generally alternate between the themes.
Please click SUBSCRIBE, and LIKE on videos which appeal to your interest.
Cheers, Warren

Very interesting Warren, yes winter is the time to get things done so we can enjoy ourselves in the better weather months. I’m currently stripping and rebuilding the engine in my Morris Traveller along with plenty of other jobs. ATB 🙏🍻
Warren back in " training " for next years " camping " so be kind to him in winter. Bushyboy Oz.
Clever comment, love it! :) Still got camping and trekking trips planned through the winter too - but yep, I'm in training as well. Nice. cheers, Warren :)

Ha yes mate, so true! :) W
Looks like an amazing spot for a wild camp! The morning views after the stormy night looks amazing. I bet it was worth it 😍such a beautiful area. Nicely done capturing the experience! ⛺🌄
Some good content. Where the roman road comes between Cribin and Fan y Big is locally known as the gap.
Great video! Weather is very wet for you but the beacons can be savage. Really enjoyed and subbed!
Great video, enjoyed watching. What a contrast from one day to the next!! All the best!!
Wow thank you for the positive feedback. Cheers. Warren 🤠
what a terrific video!
Hey thank you. Cheers, Warren 🤩 🤠
Fantastic video gents, a very enjoyable watch. That Cribyn ledge is definitely on my 'To do' list. 👍 Also an unbelievable contrast in weather in just 24hrs...Keep up the great content guys. 👌
Hey nice, thanks for the nice comment. Indeed, such a great location. The weather changed within about 2 hours of us pitching up as the sun set. What a great morning view to wake up to. Cheers, Warren :)
It's no a mountain it's a moor.😍
Hey you are right :) Cheers, Warren
great vid on campo out thanks for great vid thanks for share on channel
Thank you for catching up with video Lee. It was a fun trek out there for sure. Cheers, Warren :)
Have mark that spot as go to camp 👍thanks for the video
Nice one, leave no trace though! Cheers, Warren :)
@ always pick up others rubbish
Another great watch Warren. It was really enjoyable viewing.🙂 Thanks for the video mate.👍 (Reposted, as I accidentally posted in Paul's comment, instead of creating my own. Apologies mate).
Hi Hengist, thank you for catching my video and commenting again. Cheers, Warren :)
@@Linleys 😁
What's your secret Warren?...how do you manage to stay so upbeat in foul weather?...what a great morning though
It's easier to "happy chatter" with a mate to chatter along with too. Not so easy to be self-motivated on my own. As long as I stay dry and warm then I don't mind the foul weather, usually.... Thanks for following along again. Cheers, Warren :)
Fabulous morning views. That's a great spot. 👍
We were lucky with the opening up and clear views in the morning. Made up for the drab weather in the evening. Cheers, Warren :)
15 seconds in and I wouldn’t have left that boozer Warren 😂
Ha yep Paul, it's always tempting to stay that bit longer than time may permit. But we did escape from the delights of the lovely pub and had a fab trip up to Cribyn. Cheers, Warren :)
Some of us tried to persuade him Paul...! What a place to pitch though.
Another great watch Warren. It was really enjoyable viewing.🙂 Thanks for the video mate.👍
@@hedleythornepretty special wasn’t it. Can’t get over how much you guys lug up the mountain. I suppose if you want apple pie and custard then sacrifice has to be made 😂
@PaulMessner I weigh a metric tonne already, a few extra kilos don't hurt too much. Still, straw/camel's back I guess!
Ohhh yes! What a camp that was. Excellent video Warren, excellent.
The drab weather and poor visibility in the evening gave the morning views an extra special promotion. We had a fab trip out there Hedley. Cheers, Warren :)
@@Linleys More to come. Just remember, visiting that spot without me incurs rent payments 🙂
Warren eating chicken in such foul weather has connotations mate. But .. as you always say .. but the morning certainly made up for it. That would've made you feel alive getting up to the magnificent views and sunshine. Hedleys drone shots are great. Bushyboy Oz.
@ewengillies9826 thank you so much. Yes Warren seems impervious to bad weather, just smiles his way through it!
Worked in ec1 for ten years. Now in Canada. Great nostalgia and vicarious hangover
Right on! What a great central location there. I bet some of the pubs have changed a lot since your time there, and others have not changed at all. Cheers, Warren :)
cracking vid you aways make me hungry cooking good mint vid thanks atb Bryan
Hey Bryan, great to catch a message from you again. Thank you for following along. Cheers, Warren :)
@@Linleys hi warren I try catch up with every ones videos we need a camp some time soon atb Bryan👍
It looked good in "real life" and had a nice hue to it. One benefit I found is that I could save my own battery reserves as your light illuminated my tent too!
I'm pleased I used it during our mountain wildcamp but like I commented, it's a bit too bulky and heavy to carry it on a longer hike. A quality lamp unit and very versatile. Cheers, Warren :)
Seen these from various vendors and good to see my thoughts are confirmed 👌
It's a great lamp post for sure but not for the longer treks due to the weight and bulk. Cheers mate, Warren :)
I suspect I'll be seeing that soon. An addition to your Christmas Camp light spectacular 😂
Maybe so - scratch that - yes for both! ;) W
great vlog as always thanks for share keep up the great vlogs nice light thanks lee
Thanks Lee for checking out this lamp with me. Cheers. Warren 🤠
Hi Warren, a great Tour and a fantastic Hostel, what a great location. Cheers Peter 🙂
Hi Peter, this is one of my favourite YHAs as it has such a lot of character. I have stayed there so many times over the last couple of decades. Thank you for your comment, Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi Warren, I'm glad to hear this and no problem. Cheers Peter 😀
Hi Warren, a great Tour and a decent Hostel, there's camping and glamping options for this Hostel. Keep it up! Cheers Peter 🙂
I have been going there for years. I was not amused at the time but prior to this site the YHA was in the back/centre of Castleton and I's stayed there a few times. One time I then booked another stay and turned up to Casleton and the building was boarded up! A local told me that the YHA had moved - silly me not realising that important fact! That was a good while ago now though! Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi Warren, that's interesting to hear, looks as though you like the new one now. Thanks Peter 😀
A nice tour and a rustic feel of a Hostel in a great location, keep it up! Cheers Peter 🙂
I think this is one of the smallest YHAs I have visited but that was part of the charm with the place and the hostel manager was so very helpful and organised. A lovely place to stop. Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi Warren, I agree it seems to have a nice community feel. Cheers Peter 😀
Such a great Tour and a beautiful Hostel in a great location which I definitely recommend. Cheers Peter 🙂
I didn't really know what to expect when I visited this lovely YHA site. Really good and an ideal location too. Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi Warren, definitely, it has a lot of hidden surprises, very picturesque location. Cheers Peter 🙂
Hi Warrenz a great and detailed Hostel Tour, what a beautiful and well renovated Hostel, with a beautiful and picturesque outlook. Cheers Peter 🙂
This YHA is in an ideal location for getting out on treks. Thank you for your comment here. Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi Warren, I agree and no worries. Cheers Peter 😀
Hi There, a great tour of one of my favourite hostels with fantastic views. Cheers Peter :)
This YHA is so different to many of the others I have stayed in. It has some interesting history behind it. A great place to stay while on the SDW. Thank you for following along with my visit. Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hi There, I totally agree, nice and unique, it's one of my favourite YHAs which has a nice communal atmosphere and feel overall. Cheers Peter 🙂
Hi There, a great tour and a fantastic Hostel, this and YHA Truleigh Hill are fantastic options. Cheers Peter :) p.s. the farm buildings near the YHA are owned by the YHA and are hopefully going to be converted to extra accommodation one day.
I wondered who owned/used the farm buildings. The YHA seemed very popular and the extra accommodation space would be idea. Thanks for messaging back here Peter, Cheers, Warren :)
@Linleys Hello Warren, no worries and well deserved, I'm glad I could clarify the ownership situation of the farm buildings. It's a very popular YHA and for quite a few good reasons including the location etc. Cheers Peter 🙂
Ive watched 3 of your pub tour videos now and your such a legend lol
Hey thank you for following along. I did this one on my own - how do you think it compares to the ones with my mate? I have another video to edit and publish so look out for that one soon. And I plan to return to the Putney area to finish off the list of pubs to visit there. Cheers, Warren :)
Lovely looking day out, and I love the dark blue of that train.
I think the dark blue colour dates back to the 1960s and they have retained the style. It works well on the loco and carriages amongst the green of the woodland and gardens. Cheers, Warren :)
Nice leisurely journey through a beautifully manicured woodland estate. Geat little train. Bushyboy Oz.
Cute little railway. Slow and steady the loco took the train. No rush or bother and gave time to enjoy the lovely woodland and gardens. Cheers, Warren :)
great vid on channel thanks for cool vit of trains thanks lee
This little railway was fun to visit Lee. Thank you for following along and commenting again. Cheers, Warren :)
You don't know how much effort and time it took to extend the line to Bolton Abbey, decades! Embsay railway used to link up with Skipton and from there you can go to Leeds, British Rail have very exacting standards and won't allow it now though.
Hey yes indeed! Total commitment from the team and focus on development. Fantastic when plans work out and a great sense of achievement. I really enjoyed my visit. Thank you for commenting. Cheers, Warren :)
It seems you had a lot of fun that afternoon Warren 😄
Oh yes indeed - always a fun day out there at the club. I plan to return again of course! Cheers, Warren :)
Nice to bump into you today
Ahh yes!!! Great chat and thank you for stopping to chat in person. So good. I'm going to re-watch my own video here and plan a follow-up trip to include more of the historical aspect of the tramway especially. If you can suggest any research that I can include please do say. Longer discussions could be by email (mine is via the link in my "About" section) Thanks for the message this evening, cheers, Warren :)
Know that area very well . Great video buddy 👍
I had a fun day out catching the views, lucky with the weather too I guess. Cheers, Warren :)
I think we were all around the same area on the nice Sunday we had-I was in Dorset to visit my sister a great walk totally enjoyed-Thank you
Hey how about that! Thanks for your comment. Cheers, Warren 🤠
Thanks for another one Warren. I don't know how you guys can have a pint or 2 and then be able to carry on walking. It would put me to sleep! Cheers Evo.
The adrenaline keeps us trekking! Lots of fun 🤩 cheers, Warren
Lovely weather you had! Further West in Seaton is where the original ancient Ridgeway used to end.
Ah right, we visited Seaton as well. Fascinating history. Cheers, Warren :)
Marvellous how that hint of a pint drives you on Warren .. lol. Exceptional path with its undulating terrain and cosy woodlands to navigate. Nice to see you sharing with Mrs Linleys.. haha. Bushyboy Oz.
It wasn’t much more than a slow trek and had just lighter day-sacks to carry so no heave bag to lugg. Cheers, Warren 🤠
I remember that part of the SWCP very well. Rob and I did 12 miles a day for 3 days in that area.. and it was HARD! The ups and downs are never ending.
We did just that section and that was enough for the day! The #turbopint and then the ice cream helped. The bus was well timed at the end as well :) Cheers, Warren
