9:00 is another level of unique euphoric vibes. Gives me chills man. Feels like it’s the end of the world and all you can do is just watch and be until the last breath of life.
Lyrics (correct me if I'm wrong):
In here a tale of a boy who reached the masses
His name was Billy and he liked to get high
A normal guy until the green-skin apocalypse
A do or die
There must be something in the water (Besides fluoride and shit) Where he lie
He threw that gaping brain asunder when he realized, when he realized it's coming down
We've sown thrones and brought the kings down to knees
Hello, Here we are, Salutations
And every day that you wake is a gift that you take from the gods
That's right!
You came from the trees and we altered the genes
Here you are
All you fuck with is wages
You had the day but you pissed it away
I think it's time that we show our ways
Now we shed that violence all over
Let mayhem in the streets
From the mountain top to oceans, we own your every need
It's coming down
With every breath that we take we can hear that sound
Somebody needs a reaction to stay on the ground
With every breath that we take, we can hear that sound
A green-skin apocalypse
A do or die
So Billy heeds the call of fathers
Release high
Through these eyes
Embraces the chi and he praises the weeds
Holding out for the day he can face them
Every day that he trains is a slap in the face to the gods
God Damn
Shutting out politics
Viewing beings as equals
Ain't it funny how that makes sense?
You had the floor, but you gave it a bore
Now it's equal
Can we clean that slate?
Now shed that violence all over
Let mayhem in the streets
From mountain top to oceans, we own your every need
It's coming down
Somebody needs a reaction to stay on the ground
It's coming down
Follow a trail of the ones who bleed the masses
Follow behind the reptilian eyes
A normal day in the green-skin apocalypse
A do or die
There must be something in the water where he lie, where he lie
He threw that gaping brain asunder
When he realized, when he realized
National alliance and he leads the fight
No class, no race, just fucking violence in their eyes
A plan for human survival takes to flight
The good that's left and all we cherish stands to die
Is this the end of all we know?
They all float
Is this the end of all we know?
Wasted our lives for what?
Float away
Do we feed the reaction?
Do we stay?
Do we all float away?
Do you think you know who you are?
Did you think you had it all worked out well?
And who could believe... those dead-eyed soldiers
Red sky rainfall
The winter beams no beauty
Just cold-eyed monsters and bare branches
You can wail to the moon, but that'll just make things worse
They see you
They see me
They see all
No children in the streets
Where do they play when freedom here has been revoked?
The ground which all their fathers soaked
No medicine
The scarcity of nourishment is evident
And where's our god?
Have we seen that side of heaven yet? No
Rich, Poor
Clutching to their sheets in horror
Is there an answer?
Is there somebody who can take away all the present dismay?
Bury the light
Pray through night
Mayhem in the streets
No order
Is there an answer?
Is there somebody who can take away all the present dismay?
Bury the light
Pray through night
You've buried that, buried that light
Now pray through night
What has come down is littered all around in your sight
It's littered in your sight
The claim they stake
A Land from us they take
The craft he shakes
A race within his wake
Victory alone became his above the soil we know
A grave is laid
A man within it's cage
Victory alone became his down in the soil he owns
Soil we know becomes our own home
Now we're staring at the round together
It is not the first time or the last time
Soil we own becomes ours
Order back in what we know
Soil we own becomes ours
Now one with the soil we own
Soil we own becomes ours
Order back in what we know
Soil we own becomes ours
Now one with the soil we own

Aw man, that Garden In The Bones melody at 12:10 .

LOL We're like the opera nerds going through the booklet before the curtains open.
btw, yes, it's one.
Dude it gives me chills
There's a break at 3:06 in Garden in the Bones that is very similar to the "let go of your senses and let go of your pride" bridge in Remain Indoors. Misha said they did cross-album motifs on this album, I think that's one of them. You can also sing "the claim they stake..." verse over the riff in remain indoors.
@@jonahbacon2415 it's actually time not pride, but I want to sing pride every time, seeing as it rhymes with stride lmao
this is literally one of the best songs i have ever heard
You know, a good music teacher showed me when I was young that metal and classical share very similar sorts of composition, just a difference in sound produced. If I was to try and prove that, I would definitely use this as a example to compare to finely composed music of the past. Anyone else feel that way?
ehhhh, i wouldn’t really say this is very good example, but for sure! stuff like With Strength I Burn by Emperor, An Ocean of Wisdom by Gorguts, or Stabwound by Necrophagist are all really classical!

Bert Vocals on this track give me bloody chills, it’s unbelievable.

Two words. Stay humble. People could learn a lot from this in this day and age. Approach everything you do from a beginner’s standpoint, acknowledge you always have something new to learn or improve upon and you will never stagnate. That’s why the band is so special. I think all of the dudes have this mindset. There’s no such thing as a master. Just levels of proficiency.
It happens when you're not forced to rush an album
9:25 ah yes, Spencer flaunting his PHD in giving people chills.
Also his PHD in vocal modulation
Hearing over and over, full song, instrumental, guitars only, bass only, drums only and Spencer’s track. It’s pure masterpiece.
This is not a song, It’s a story that makes me feel inside a revolution in a poor cold country. I love it!!!
And the London version, Plini and Jakub soloing, pushes me to make guitar faces, brilliant !!!
Absolutely
I could not help but notice the similarities between this song and Vergil's theme in DMC 5 that just came out called "Bury the Light" and the tone of both songs match each other a lot but what surprises me the most is that at 9:20 he says "Bury the light" and at 4:00 the melody sounds exactly the same as in Bury the Light's drop.
That's how I found this song actually. They're both fantastic and I'd love more songs similar in vibe to this and bury the light.
Yes, there are references to other songs too, there are even parts that resemble the harmony of Castelvania music, in the case of Ost do Vergil
so, its mostly a theory, but i would be very surprised if bury the light wasn't *massively* influenced by this track. the vocalist for that song has a cover of this song on his channel, a few months before the release of bury the light. all signs point to this song having big influence on dmc.
@@atomictoaster8013 nolly did either the mixing or production on bury the light, cant remember which
@@atomictoaster8013 I feel like I saw this exact thing confirmed somewhere, that Casey or someone who works close with him saw that cover and decided to hit Borba up. I don't know what it is about this band, but the way they transition from heavy to groovy and then combine the two, it's incredible.
I hear a lot of talk about comparing them to dream theater, while periphery may not be "as complex" it's equally as good as far as composition and song structure, incredibly well thought out stuff.
I'm super late to the Periphery train, so I just gotta ask--
why so goddamn addicting? Incredibly written, everything hits right, highs and lows galore in overall sound, not even a waste of nearly 17-minutes. I've probably listened to this well over a hundred times since I first heard it. In other words, just over one full day of listening to this song consecutively on repeat. I could easily do it on a long drive. Love the girthy outro/breakdown.
because everything is so god damn well mixed
love spencer's epic vocals from the BTS
he threw that gaping brain a-SUU-NNDEERRR
Reptile is by far their best piece of work yet. I saw the length and chuckled to myself but I regret that chuckle now.
This is one of the most impressive songs I've ever heard. Not one bad thing to say about the entire 16 minutes.
Check out satellites. The vocals are amazing.
If you like stuff like this check out Blotted Science or Animals as Leaders...
@@testrabbit Not a fan of either
@adamtrout7711 I'm surprised by that actually. You might like the latest Animals as Leaders video for a tune called Misu. It's pretty wild.
THERE'S NO WAY THIS ALBUM CAME OUT 2 YEARS AGO, THAT'S UNREAL. IT FEELS LIKE IT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO
Edit: nearly 3 years now, man time just passes quicker than you think and its crazy how long its actually been
A new album will be here before you know it
@@roberthaskin1723 They're working on it and it looks like a spring/summer 2022 release gets more and more likely.
Legit, I swear I've lost like 18 months overnight. This timeline has gone weird.
I discovered it 2 weeks ago and showed it to my buddy and when I say we both have been listening to this song and Periphery in general 24/7 since then it’s an understatement lol. I came from listening to dream theater and saw this was 17 mins long and this is by far the best song I’ve ever heard.
That being said, I’m assuming you guys have been devoted Periphery fans so having just discovered them a few weeks ago, any suggestions on songs from other albums to listen to?
Periphery IV: HAIL STAN
Periphery IV: THA SNAIL
Periphery IV: STIL HAAN
Periphery IV: THIS TAAN
NAIL HATS
Periphery IV: ANAL HITS
Periphery IV: ANAL SHIT
@@Sam-dg2wc this ones the best imo for how odd it is
HAIL ANTS
Dude this song doesnt even feel that long. It's super awesome.
This is the pinnacle of utter genius. This is a masterpiece amongst masterpieces. Thank you so much for this.
9:00 gives me goosebumps every time i hear it, absolutely love it
This album has the best Spencer vocal performance yet...
I love how you used the Garden in the Bones phrase in this song with different lyrics. Really reminiscent of omega and alpha. Amazing song!!!
This is your masterpiece thus far. So dark but beautiful and striking. 3 years later. Can’t wait til the new album. This song shines guys. ❤
After probably my 1,000th time listening to this MASTERPIECE I finally fully appreciate the purpose of the afterglow that ends this song. One is meant to lay ones head back, close one’s eyes, and recover from the all out assault Periphery just launched on one’s central nervous system.
Spencer's vocals are AMAZING on this (well...in general but still) and mixed really well. This 16 min magnum opus is on Dream Theater level.
Lol I don't think Dream Theater is that good mostly because they lack cross genre diversity Periphery has. Every member of Periphery makes their prowess possible.
Not many bands are composed of masters.
Dumb comment, though vocals are way better here, each members of dream theater are masters on their instruments on their own
Dream Theater ain’t got shit on these dudes
Portnoy and Matt both have a certain flare, hard to choose between them. Musicality definitely goes to Matt, technicality probably goes to Portnoy. No idea about the new drummer of DT though.
I think there was a soft section on this song the reminds me a little bit of Swallow The Sun and I absolutely love it!
Only listening to this song before the official release. If the rest of the album is this good we’re in for a huge treat 🔥
Nate C. Concerts that’s will power right there
But what's the point? The album has been officially released. It's on UA-cam and copies have been sold at swine fest. Now the original release date is just the global album distribution date.
This is the official release
I’m pretty sure it would be easier not to do drugs a second time than choose not to listen to the album when it’s dangled in front of you like this 😨
You're a strong man. The rest of the album is brilliant
Well... I would say this is the only 16 minute long song I could play on repeat all day and never get sick of.. Periphery is fucking divine. 10:20 and 14:07 are mind blowing.
the ONLY? smh
I still cant get over how this one sing introduces the themes of every song after it
