I'm sitting here with my 6 year old Cloud Alpha headset where the plasticiser is releasing from the plastic and that's why everything is unpleasantly sticky. The headset itself still works perfectly and it is really robustly built.
This is so disappointing. I had the original Kingston HyperX clouds for many years and when they died I got the now just HyperX Cloud 2s hoping they were the same because it was such a good headset. Now when these die, if they no longer make the 2, I will be avoiding the 3. Its sad to see the fall of a legend. Hopefully they come out with a better version by then or I'll be switching.
Yeah I have to agree. I love the cloud 2 so much. I’ve found that the sound on the cloud 3 is very boring, there’s no body or depth. So sound on the cloud 2 is very fun, it has a very gentle V-shape to the sound, the perfect amount of bass, mid, and high. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with if they make a new cloud alpha.
I hope the earcup wires, that sticking out does not get stiff, since I think it was due to the stiffness, that I lost my left audio on my HyperX Cloud 2, 7.1's

I would recommend Alpha S, they are better than Alpha when you use the usb C sound card, the harshness is controlled a little bit with the usb sound card included, and the audio is much more controlled and very full to enjoy music and AAA games as well, in cloud series Alpha S is the best headset as per my personal usage (used alpha, alpha s , cloud core, core 2, stinger, revolver, this review is only based on which cloud headphone I liked the most for csgo and valorant and AAA games like genshin, warzone, studio headphone may always be a better buy but for gaming pc38x is still my fav over any cloud headset, maybe h6 pro is simialr to pc38x)

The only reason hyperx did a good job on the sound quality of the cloud 2 is that they didnt do anything at all. May I ask, if you had DTS (Unbound app from Microsoft store) enabled during your tests or not? Ever since becoming HP hyperx lost their way. My first cloud II were awesome and lasted me 5 years... Then i had 2 more after them becoming an HP company and they clearly downgraded quality control and plastics don't last, within 1 year the 2 newer ones also broke and I do take care of my stuff as they were never dropped. I got them on sale so i didn't bother with warranty / RMA... I just moved on from them. Their sound had a profile I liked and got even better with Dolby atmos on windows 10/11 but ultimately i need then to last and it is a shame their 3rd version isn't anything special. Thank you for the very detailed video. My old Hyper x Cloud Alpha is now unfortunately defective. I was now considering buying the Alpha 3 but am unsure. It still costs 88 euros here at the moment. Do you have any ideas for a headset that would be cheaper and better? The sound quality is also very important to me as I use it to listen to music.

Sometimes it's better to not change anything/too much. I remember when the mx518 was legendary and they tried to give us the G400. It failed horrible and so they basically gave us the exact same model mx518 back but called it "legendary" or something. I use the hyper x cloud ii for many many years now and it works absolutely perfect. There isn't really any reason to change something like the mic or sound. A bit weight reduction, a bit more comfort is fine. I don't even need the adjustable volume and mute on the headset itself because the soundcard is placed exactly in front of my keyboard and it's much easier to reach to that than up to the headset. The only thing I know would like to see is a wireless version. Swirling around the cable is really annoying.
Are the ear cushions of the HyperX Cloud III smaller or larger than the Cloud II? One of the reasons I loved the Cloud II is its generously sized ear cushions that provided a perfect fit for my big ears, unlike my previous headsets.
This headset feels so good around the ears, especially for people with big ears like me. Feels very light and sound is great. The only things I do not like about this headset is it takes 5-10 seconds of holding the power button to turn it on and off, and once it is on there is no LED indicator to let you know it is on. But besides that this is a 9/10 headset at it's price point.

I am extremely disappointed. I can't hear ANYTHING in Apex and I can't find a fix that doesn't require me to drop additional money on software.
After comparing the Cloud III, HyperX Cloud II, and H6Pro gaming headsets, I was disappointed with the Cloud III's performance. The HyperX Cloud II had a better microphone, but the H6Pro was far superior; it's on a whole different level (it's also more expensive, I know). Considering the price of gaming headsets, similarly priced regular headphones often offer more features, such as noise cancellation, better microphones, and wired/Bluetooth options. Since you can use the detachable cable while gaming and remove it later for other activities, vastly improving mobility, I think all of this makes gaming headsets less appealing overall, and manufacturers need to catch up to these features. While not always true, in my opinion, headphones often outperform gaming headsets in similar price brackets in many ways, even beyond gaming.
To my ears, the Cloud II sounded better in the microphone test. It just has a lesser bass but it has more clarity into it.

Seriously idk why developers of all brands even consider leader for the earpads, do they even use their products? shit gets warm and sweaty as fuck
I'm sitting here with my 6 year old Cloud Alpha headset where the plasticiser is releasing from the plastic and that's why everything is unpleasantly sticky.
The headset itself still works perfectly and it is really robustly built.
Same thing on my actual Cloud II,sticky as hell. I wonder why manifacturers still use hthat soft touch finish, that doesn't last more than two years...
I returned my 3's and got the Alpha instead. Somehow WAY better and comfortable sound in my opinion.
Is the Alpha one can use 3.5 jack?
@@NoOneWouldCare Yes
@@RikkuChaser ok thx
@@RikkuChaser do you think I should get the hyperx cloud alpha or hyperx cloud x ??
@@dlxaytra1087 It really depends, do you prefer sound quality? Then Alpha. Do you NEED a good mic? Then the 3.
@unholydonuts Sony has been making great headphones and speakers for longer than Audeze-nutz existed. I wouldn't worry about it
Got them today. Can't complain. They're comfy and have great sound, even more so for music. I primarily play CS2.
III's mic sounds to me much better than II's, but the Ii's was quite quiet for me and if this picks even less then it's almost like having no mic.
How about pinpoint sound, is it good in competitive fps games
Yeah I have to agree. I love the cloud 2 so much. I’ve found that the sound on the cloud 3 is very boring, there’s no body or depth. So sound on the cloud 2 is very fun, it has a very gentle V-shape to the sound, the perfect amount of bass, mid, and high. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with if they make a new cloud alpha.
I just ordered the 2 because of this comment.
@@namelesstemple I have no doubt that you’ll love it!

I've used cloud alphas for like 3 years and I been thinking about using the cloud 3. But none the less awesome reviews from you guys as always 😊
I would go for studio headset like sennheiser for better sound for music, and also gaming ofc. studio headset will sound way better for listening music and content
@@nbhd996 thanks for the recommendation 👍
@@nbhd996 The could II had amazing sound quality for a gaming headset, and for a cheap headset in general. People overlook this but it actually was it's main selling point and strenght, not comfort. It wasn't "reference" but it was good, much better than anything in it's class or double as expensive. No other headset from Hyperclass came close to it, and when I saw they replaced the speakers in this one I knew it would be the case too. Shame
@@ulrich_badmecanique there is better option for the same price and even for a lower price than the Cloud II for years now...
Totally agree with i was feeling same when i first weared it but after 1-2 days i got used to it. Ignoring that we missing that sharp sounds in fps games i was ok with it and on the other hand left happy with the improved microphone. Its almost a month since i got cloud 3 and dont regret it. Also believe that people will manage to bring cloud 2 sounds in nginuity equalizer for those who prefer cloud2 sound

Big corpo has their claws in hyperx now. They are not the same company. Even the packaging is cheap as hell compared to the way the cloud 2 was packaged. Kingston is stupid for selling of literally the best most well known part of their company. Literally stupid.

I would however suggest buying them separately (Mic + "Headphones") because it's simply just better!
FIFINE T669: 50 Euros is a boom arm microphone that will sound better than ANY headset on the market.
Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80/250 ohm: 150 Euros, I've had mine for 6 years now and is one of the best long term headphones you can get
@@Lullaby999999999I have these. They are very comfortable and sounds really good, but they are a little too plastic for me. Just a metal inner band would give me more confidence.
Thanks much for reviewing, I was planning to switch but not now.
I didn't realize these were that popular. I just got a pair of i assume last gens model for free. I saw it was tossed in the e-waste bin at work and they looked nice so i figured they might be worth keeping. Now I'm glad I did.
When will a gaming headset ever get good enough to the point where the SHP9500 plus the boom mic cable is now a sidegrade instead of the overall better product
Is it really good for valorant?
Thank you for the review it was really helpful!
The only reason hyperx did a good job on the sound quality of the cloud 2 is that they didnt do anything at all. They left it to the actual sound company which is Takstar (Pro 80) and worked on the look. Instead of buying these I'd rather but Takstar Pro 82, Gm200 (microphoned version), Isk Mdh8500 (new takstar pro 80) or the open back version of it , Isk Hf2010.
May I ask if you're using the h6pro with or without a dac in this review ?
I have a pair of wired cloud 2s and loooove them. Have had them since 2018 and they STILL pumping out beautiful sound. It just want to upgrade so I can hand these old ones down to my daughter.
Any chance you plan to do an Audeze Maxwell review in the near future? I know 300 is a lot and usually wait til I hear from you guys before I pull the trigger.

The removable cable is what I’m up to these days. Just got the Logitech Pro X bluvoice with removable cable, and yes that makes me feel more future proof and long term for me. Removable cable is a must for me now
Removable cable is a must for me too
my cloud 1 has this problem after 10 years , I need to change the wire ... not a big difference between 1 and 2 .
May I ask, if you had DTS (Unbound app from Microsoft store) enabled during your tests or not? According to some threads where users also complained about the worse audio quality, compared to the cloud II, this seems to solve the issue. IMO, It should be part of the Hyper X installation if it's needed that badly. But knowing how to get good sound out of this headset is better than regretting the purchase.
Stereo imaging is literally the most important thing for a gaming headset :P Kind of DQs itself there then.
the biggest issue i had with Cloud II is the plastic thing on hindge broke and there's no replacement parts avail. No AliExpress headband because of how they are wired.
This so much, the only reason I had to buy another pair of Alphas was because plastic hinge broke
Have you compared cloud 3 vs Alpha S? Which one better?
Cloud 2 mic sounded clearer to me idk
I have a question about the hyperx cloud 3, when you play can you hear your voice in the headphones? to avoid shouting
What should I get? Logitech g pro x or Hyperx Cloud III?

Nevermind. You mentioned HP bought HyperX. Rip hyperx i guess. Big companies never buy great brands to make the products even better. They do it to make more money on the brand name. They'll cut costs, and quality, and HyperX will be a shell of its former self. Its the end of an era... Cause big corpo has their claws in it now.

If feels like HP is sunsetting hyperx

There is already cloud 2 wireless.
I bought the hyperx duocast for a mic would this be worth it for audio?
Are the ear cushions of the HyperX Cloud III smaller or larger than the Cloud II? One of the reasons I loved the Cloud II is its generously sized ear cushions that provided a perfect fit for my big ears, unlike my previous headsets.

Sounds good enough for me and I have had some damn expensive headphones. 👍 The 300 hour battery life is insane!
Your thumbnail made me laugh out loud.
I bought the cloud II but I wish the cables were a bit shorter
i dont understand gaming headsets with pleather cuffs, we're literally gaming for hours it will get hot
Doesn’t matter if the cloud 2 is wired or wireless? Or the quality is just the same?
I think the Cloud 3 sounded more nasally at 2:11 than the Cloud 2. 🤷

Iv had my original cloud alpha when it got first released, probably 7 years ago, it's Bulletproof, I don't game anymore so I use it for music and djing, and when djing it gets blasted at high volume, very durable, and good sound

My Cloud 2s just shorted out so I went to 3 different retail stores looking for another pair and they were either sold out or not stocked anymore. So I settled on a wired cloud 3. I am extremely disappointed. I can't hear ANYTHING in Apex and I can't find a fix that doesn't require me to drop additional money on software.

Cant wait to see the wireless
While not always true, in my opinion, headphones often outperform gaming headsets in similar price brackets in many ways, even beyond gaming.
aren’t the H6Pro like $80 more ? that’s not a fair comparison imo
