Free Camping near Banff - TRIPPED RV Season 3 Ep 10

- We were just as surprised as you are about free camping near Banff. The Saskatchewan River Crossing is actually INSIDE Banff National Park and they allow overnight parking in their parking lot.
Parking overnight in a RV at The Crossing located at Saskatchewan River Crossing is completely free- they just ask that you stay one night only and only park in the gravel lot between 3PM and 9AM, which is PLENTY of time.
There laundry, a convenience store, gas, RV dump and water, and even a little restaurant/pub where you can have a couple beers and a massive plate of nachos. While the gravel lot you’re staying in might be a bit on the rustic side, the view is absolutely incredible and we found it quiet enough given the price. We’ve stayed in much worse for much more money ;)

As we headed North out of Banff, we took time to do an incredible hike to Bow Glacier Falls. Weren’t we out kayaking on Bow Lake in the last episode? (Yes. Yes we were.)
We made a stop in Jasper at the Athabasca Glacier. Apparently, we spent too much time researching where to stay in Banff and not enough to learn about what an attraction Athabasca glacier was. We arrived too late in the day to go on a tourbus up to the glacier- so if you’re interested in that, plan accordingly.
There is a massive visitors center and parking lot so accessibility is easy. You CANNOT drive your own vehicle up to the glacier- you must take the bus and pay for the bus pass. If you’re not that interested in getting an up close view of a retreating glacier there are plenty of hiking trails nearby where you can still get VERY close.

I lived in Calgary over 11 years and it is weird how much you take the beauty for granted. Thanks for the fun and informative videos.
This is why people come to visit Canada! Welcome to our beautiful country! 🇨🇦😊❤
The travels you inspire.....
Yes definitely I can attest to Banf , having been there twice , but your Alaska trip is where the real epic journey begins, it is one of the best I have ever seen on you tube so far .
Beautiful!! Thank you guys. 👍🏻🏴
I’m so excited for season 4. I have been waiting to see your Alaska adventure
Thanks for info. Keep rolling.
Great to have new videos up. New subscriber from Carmel, IN. Visited Banff/Icefields pkwy a few years ago. Most beautiful place we’ve been. Can’t wait to go back.
Whats up Brady?! We lived over in Fishers before starting our RV trip. Practically next door neighbors!
Enjoying Canada makes me happy! I saw all of that and I am excited for Alaska as well.
Great video. The Alaska preview looks amazing!! Hope you get to hike on a glacier. I was able to and it is amazing....
Loved this! I'm excited to see your Alaskan adventures! :)
You guys are hilarious- always be bear aware 🐻 😆 Alaska preview looks EPIC can not wait!! Loving your work guys, charlie xx
Love y'all
This all looks so beautiful and amazing! Your Alaska preview too ~ wow! Gotta love those road trips when you are "over" the waterfalls, scenic viewpoints or whatevers ~ ha ha ~ had to do that on the Blue Ridge Parkway or we would have never gotten to the next state.
I mean....there are just SO many waterfalls. We kind of got that way about glaciers in Alaska too....Glacier! Look- another glacier!
Nicely filmed.
This was again such an amazing video! My parents have been to Banff and I have moved back to the US so I want to go hopefully next Summer. I know I have told you dozens of times, but your videos are better than any other travel/RV life on YT👍🙌😍
Hi Mary! You're still hanging around! Thanks for the kind words- we have a ton of content this next month but then we're excited to start shooting mexico.
WOOHOO !!!!!!!! You guys are back ! thank you for some absolutely stunning footage :))))
Sorry Tim but a big thanks to Finn when she is in her fitness gear :)
Mate you should have married a ok gal not a super model ! Just enjoy the compliment .
My dog Rock Dog ears pricked up when I said '' Want to see Pepper''
You see Tim Finn is great on the eyes and so Pepper is great on Rock Dogs eyes :))))
Cannot wait and bloody hurry up for the Alaska vids
Be safe out there ok regards Paul (Australia)
I live by a Jasper, it’s beautiful 😍
YAS!! I'm so here for Tim riding the Dalton(?) Highway!! I *claps* am *claps* so *claps* excited! *clap clap clap*
As the Magpie Flies it’s just as epic as it sounds!
Uh Banff I want to look at you all day!!!! Just looks so surreal and almost fake it is so gorgeous!
Wow. The falls are really amazing. I bet the water is cold.
Hey! Summer 2018 I spent four days exploring that area above bow lake. Gnarly rugged adventure! I made it to the lake above those falls you showed us in your video. There I witnessed the glacier melting into a waterfall cascading into a turquoise lake. Believe me, I UNDERSTAND when you speak of the icy cold wind that pours from a glacier. Honestly you saw the most fantastic bit of our Rocky Mountain National Parks. Jasper only gets good when you're doing multi day backpacking treks. Hope it was an amazing time in Alaska!
It was a bit of a bummer that things always seem so rushed. It's easy to see how much time you could spend in Jasper and Banff doing long back country hikes. We always felt like we were scratching the surface with our day hikes. At least Pepper could come with us in good old CA as opposed to the US where doggos are prohibited on trails.
I can't wait until the Alaska vlog starts..........I love the "when the RV is bad" comment.....Jezebel says she and Pepper can go to auto repair school while Wesley stays home and makes Martinis..........Happy trails from the not so sunny but cold south. 🌬☮🐾
The good news is that by the time we hit Alaska, we've pretty much shook out all the problems with the RV. Just rewatching footage though and Finny is going on about being nervous that something new is gonna break the entire time we're driving.
@@timandfin In that case do what Wesley would......make martinis...
you can camp anywhere in canada for free pretty much
OMG, welcome back. I thought you forgot to remain Bear Aware in Banff. I've missed your shows. Just 29 days until Christmas.
Things got crazy for a bit.....we sold the RV, moved to florida for a month, had to figure out how to live out of backpacks again, and are getting ready for Mexico!
Off sales means you can go into the bar and buy a case of beer, bottle of wine, hard liquor, ect to consume at home when the normal liquor store is closed.
Finn, to answer your question. An "off sale" is liquor offered after hours for an increased price ☺
By the way, I love your guy's videos!
Your Rv is good
When she's good shes good. When the RV is bad though....
They make special windshield washer fluid that is good for getting rid of smashed bugs. Here in Florida anyway.
rjr 4949 hah. Shoot we should have known!
thumbs up
Great video. I just subscribed to your channel. I could understand the name of the place you stayed at over night. Is it a casino ?
Hey you pronounced Saskatchewan correctly. Well done.
I live in Alberta and am familiar with all of the locations in this video. Some unsolicited advice. Fuel up before you arrive at the Sask River Crossing . I fueled there once and was SHOCKED at the price. Never ever again!
I think we paid the equivalent of $5/gallon when coming back south through CA. There was def a bit of sticker shock!
As a Canadian I Thank You for this moment @ 4:49 Thank You...you reached "Level Epic"...That dog really has the world with you guys!
Love y’all vblog. What type of scooter and carrier are you hauling?
We've got a Yamaha Zuma 125 on the back. The carrier is just a generic hitch carrier from amazon that is rated for a 600lbs motorcycle. The Zuma weighs in at only about 225 so we erred on the side of caution. 20k miles later and everything worked out fine!
Hey please tell me is it the month of november?
Bear aware or bare aware? lol
bahaha missed opportunity!
Hard to imagine that the glacier used to be all the way to the highway.
incredible
Tim and Fin!!! Just found you guys. Love your videos. We're planning Alaska in 2019. We have a small Bichon. Could we get your Itinerary and stops? How can we support your channel?
Aw you are just the sweetest! Alaska content coming soon (including itinerary!) our store www.trippedtravelgear.com fully supports our content and is a great gift item for the holidays :) ALL THE BEST!
You know what the big said when he hit your windshield?
“It took guts to do that!”
👍
bear aware lolz bears arent up on those mountain peaks honey
That's just what they want you to think.
What time of year was this made?
BillByrd74 we include a time stamp at the beginning of our videos now. This is from July 2018
Duh, now I see stamp!
Thanks!!!
No offense but the Canadian Rockies are so much above Alaska in every way. Also BC is the most incredible place in North America hands down. Alaska is overrated. Its pretty but gloomy, dreary weather and depressing. Its not fun hiking in rain or clouds or fog.
Theres no reason to ho beyond BC.
Waist of gas
You're probably going to like our upcoming content :)
Totally agree! I've been to Alaska a few times and when driving back through BC I wonder why I blew past all this awesomeness that is just as wild and more beautiful. From the north, to the Kootenays, Chilcotin, the island, etc.
