    We had over a 1700 mile journey on the Alaska highway as we made our journey to Alaska from the lower 48. That’s a long drive no matter what- but if you factor in the reduced speed in the RV, stopping to checkout random points of interest/wilderness sightings, and fueling up way too often, it become a REALLY long drive.
    Topping it all off- we went through some of the most epic road construction we’ve ever experienced. Summer is the peak of road construction season through Canada and Alaska. The quality of the temporary lanes that were constructed while the main roadway was being fixed were something I wouldn’t see again until riding a motorcycle on the Dalton. Compounding the effect, our RV is quite possibly the worst vehicle ever built at handling any sort of dips, bumps or anything NOT perfectly flat.
    While we initially tried to fight it, we would end each driving day with random cabinets open and contents spewed everywhere.
    Around the midway point of the drive we took a break to explore the Watson Lake Signpost Forest. Fin has watched Keep Your Daydream for quite some time and knew that they had placed custom sign in the forest and had a neat little riddle out there to use to track it down.
    As most things do, this led to an intense competition between us to see who could find it first.
    Keep Your Daydream Video: • RVING THE ALASKA HIGHW...
    ----------------
    ABOUT US:
    We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny.
    We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test - one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

    In 1973 I was 22. I left Phoenix Az in a 1960 Chevy station wagon. I thought I'd drive to Anchorage, Ak. (Yes, I guess I was crazy) I stopped by southern California to say Hi & bye to my mom. My oldest brother was at her house. He said, "Where are you going?" "To Alaska." I said. "When?" "In about a half hour". "Can I go with you. give me an hour!" OK". At that time the entire Alcan Highway was unpaved. I cannot begin to tell you about the adventures we had. It was a trip my brother and I will never forget!

    Goodness what a fun couple you are! I subscribed after seeing this one :) I first drove the Alcan June 1970 when we moved to Alaska...it was still dirt and gravel back then...verrrrrrry dusty!

    Great video guys. Love the personalities. Pretty cool that you have met KYD and found their sign. We got to meet Jason from "Gone With The Wynn's" this summer. Hope to see you on the road

    Just subscribed...as I've been a KYD subscriber for over a year, and watched their Alaska Adventure...so now I'll watch yours! Thanks for the opportunity! We're new to owning a motorhome, as it's been trailers/truck & camper for the last few decades, looking forward to new future adventures. We have driven to Alaska (twice) and I look forward to the next time, as the sights/scenery are second to none, yet we're also looking forward to seeing more of south of the 49th....as we're Canadian, and love exploring 'small town America' and learning of the adventures yet to come. Drive safe and enjoy each and every day! Oh, and I thought I'd mention....I met Marc & Tricia at one of their 'meet up's' while they where heading south through British Columbia prior to going through the border headed for home! :)

    Just stumbled upon our channel and amazingly found this video. I grew up in Dawson Creek, B.C. and loved seeing the familiar sights. I hope you found the souvenir t-shirts that said "I drove the Alaska highway and lived!". Always a classic.

      That's constantly coming out of Fin's mouth as we were driving around. On the other hand, I like to know as little as possible where ever I go because I love to be surprised (and I always have Fin to rely on if i'm REALLY lost).

    You commented on the price of gas being over $4 a gallon. You forgot to mention how much further your US $ goes in Canada

    • @timandfin
      @timandfin  5 років тому

      I mean, that's $4 with all glallons/liter and USD/CAD conversions factored in. It was pricey. On the flip side, now that we're back to filling up a car for $25 we almost laugh when the pump turns off.
