Once Summerville gets going you'll be happy. At Leeds last year, when he's coming inside , there was always spaces opening up and he is so precise in dinking passes in behind , his feet are lightning,Bowen and Kudus will thrive on it when they're used to him.

The fact Lopetegui said he watched us a few times last season has me worried that he picks Antonio and Soucek. Surely Summerville should of been given a start and put Kudus down the middle. I know it’s early doors but come on Antonio and Soucek are impact subs at best

I would play Bowen down the middle and Kudus on the right. Summerville on the left

Not starting Antonio is not akin to dropping Antonio. Even if Lopetegui was unaware that Micky takes at least a week after internationals to get back up to speed, everyone who has been at the club for any length of time knows, as do all the fans. Did know one tell JLo? 90% of fans who predicted a lineup seemed convinced that, even if only for this game, Bowen was the obvious striker pick. And if you're prepared to rest Paqueta, what possible reasoning lies behind playing Antonio who had similar distances as Paqman to travel, but who finished his game much later.
A rested Antonio would have been regarded as a possible starter against Chelsea where now his stock has fallen so low that after that display he'd be lucky to be the third choice for many.

Insipid team selection and performance once again, are we seeing a pattern here?

If Loppy had got that first half line up to work I would give him credit. Him rectifying it in the second half deserves none, it was obvious the changes required, or are the levels we expect from our coaches really that low now?
To give players an opportunity is the absolute right thing to do, but give them the best chance to succeed, not ask them to do something that has rarely if ever worked going back over a season.

Maverpanos has a mistake in him that costs us a goal nearly every match! Can we really keep on knowing were going to be a goal down before we even start the match?

Yes dead right, puts us the back foot not to concede another, so many games I can remember this under Moyes now this bloke!

Lopetegqi's management was like driving a car towards a cliff edge, then swerving at the last minute with one of the wheels hanging over the edge.
    Good or wreckless driving?

I will start to worry if Lopetegui continues to start Antonio up front and Soucek as a No.10

use of players is complicated.all we ever bang on about is ''the best starting line-up''.ifonly it was that simple.how many of us have thrown a man's life on the scrapheap?ended a carreer?told someone that we had decided their dream life was over?the basque are very honourable people.treating human beings with integrity is fundamental to them.if being a manager was just about picking your best eleven, then all of us whining here, wouldn't be plumbers, postmen, brickies etc...but it isn't.

Dropping Antonio for that match would not have been throwing him on the scrapheap. It would have rested the player and shielded him from the kind of criticism and abuse he now faces. We have options, we don't need to go down the old route of rinsing players week after week regardless of how they're feeling/playing. Because of that half of football many people will be very critical of seeing his name on the team sheet for Chelsea, many more than before.

Sorry you are asking for sentiment and compassion to be involved in making team selections ,, no way that should even be a consideration .. Aside from that , we should not worry about the hopes and dreams of a man who is earning a £100,000 per week ..( like leaving him out the team or taking him off would do that ) ..Actually Worry more about the hopes and dreams of the postman , brickie and plumber................Lopetegui's duty and responsibility is first to the fans and the football club and to getting results .. A players feelings should not be anywhere near affecting team selections .. You are right managing a football club is not a simple matter of picking your best 11, its about picking the right blend so that the team fit together as a unit , it's about getting your team tactically right on the day for the team you are playing against and many other factors no doubt ,, but sentimentally over certain players feelings should play no part at all

@@glennvage Compassion under any circumstances ?? .. Im sorry compassion has it's place and time , some decisions have to be made without compassion and indeed in many cases introducing compassion into the decision making process will lead to bad decisions .. Bad decisions are completely the opposite of compassionate and can lead to long term hardship and difficulties for people
