Currently a CyberSecurity engineer with no college degree... have certs and 20 years in IT across various disciplines (DBA, developer, hardware, networking, etc)...it can absolutely be done, but the crawl up the hill can be a little difficult. Best of luck to those of you chasing this field.
@@louisrosenberg21 hi. I've heard a few different answers but the general consensus was that the A+ can be skipped for an entry level cyber security job. Everyone I've spoken to highly recommended getting the Network+ and Security+ though.
Thank you for making this video, I'm currently considering going for a career in cyber security. My issue is that I have a lot of experience with physical security, both in military and law enforcement, but I don't have any college experience. I'm worried that employers won't be willing to substitute a degree for military/LE background + online certifications.
Nice but the problem is every opportunity is in America like internship and stuff like this. Anyways thank you so much you have helped me a lot in my career advice ☺☺
So if you have no background in cyber security is the path to get the certs and then find an entry level job to get experience in? Im having a little trouble figuring out how to get my foot in the door.
Can you really get an internship with no experience though? You said to pick experience over certification, but wouldn't it be best to have certification first?
Hi Nicole, I'm Grateful and Thankful that youtube recommend your content. I'm an aspiring Cyber Security analyst , question please, is there any chance for someone don't have financially capability to have certification to enter Cyber Security.. :( , should I go to other field first then when I have enough money, I think I'm wasting my life and time right now. Thank you in advance Hoping you'll notice me.
So, if a person was to get a degree at WGU, would that make up for having to do all of the steps mentioned in this video? is WGU security degree accredited, and recognized by most employers, showing you have the necessary skills to be a cyber security professional/engineer?
How quickly can you get a decent paying job in cyber security if you put the work in for certain certifications and what not? I am 1st year mechanical engineering student and I would like to also equip myself with skills in cyber security and coding aside from that. In addition, it’s my belief that if you develop the skills in coding/cyber security, I can get a decent paying job while I’m in college.
That is so tough to say without knowing your work ethic, time, communication skills, resourcefullness, technical ability, etc... You could definitely do it within one year if you put ina lot of effort. Remember to make your resume great
Hey so wierd question but say your a high school student and through different programs you were able to get some certifications, is it possible to get a entry level cyber security job, before I leave high school?
Hey, I'm currently working as a network analyst l (1 year experience)and want to get in cyber security. At the moment I am studying for compTIA security ➕ and wondering what else I should do to get into cyber jobs? I also have CCNA. Can i count my networking experience towards those certificates like CSSIP or does it have to be specifically in cyber security line?
I have 5 years experience in accounting(AR/AP, reconciliation. That sort of thing)… Would any part of that be something I could add into my “experience”? Scared to lose so many years of experience to start fresh in a new field but also want to increase my salary.
Maybe you can move to another area of business. You can do more with your accounting degree than u think. Business analyst, product owner, etc maybe even finance . Just research. There is no clear path into cyber and that's a problem but if you want to then its fine too but just saying.
@@nicoleenesse I dropped out my senior year at college, if I had finished I'd have a bachelors degree in mathematics. Does this mean I shouldn't get into cyber security? I want to get into a technical field that doesn't require a bachelors degree. I have a 2 year old and really can't afford to go to college anymore.
I'm wanting to get into Cyber security but have no experience. It's hard to find any position area my area and I'm looking at different routes without spending a ton of money.
It is the 07June2022 and I love your content. It is very helpful. I am a combat vet with a bachelor's in Cyber Security. Could you please not cut and edit so much. I would love to watch a pretty face while learning about the career I want to take for providing for my family

Do I need the A+ cert to get started in Cyber Security or can I skip that in favor of getting the Network+ and Security+ to get an entry level job?
@@bicdeez007 good question, did you find the answer?

A lot of employers will substitute, and like military/law enforcement candidates. I wouldn't worry about it too much
What are your thoughts on cyber security bootcamps? Do you think they are worth it?
Ehhh some are a total rip off. Some may be good depending on ROI/ COST

Yes, you must have the proper skills to start an entry level job!! A degree can be helpful, but not necessary
I loved every minute of college, I just don't have the money to go back. Certifications and experience seem like a far more efficient way now.
Can i get a job with only security+ certificate Without degrees and experience.
And if i do than what could my starting salary range be?
Thank you so much Nichole...Ng greeting from Nigeria
You are so welcome!
Can you send all the links of all you talked about . Gov jobs volunteer, internships, meet up, bachelor degree talk

Yes, cybersecurity isn’t math heavy unless you are going into creating encryption algorithms and what not.
