    Hi Nicole,
    Thank you so much. You’re amazing for taking the time to really give beginners the knowledge that they need. We all appreciate your time.
    I took some extensive notes.

    This was very helpful. At first I thought you should just get a bunch of Certs to be more employable, but now I know it’s a better time investment to get Certs on what you are specifically trying to do. Where can I find this Career Pathway you mentioned at the end of the video? I want to get into Cybersecurity but I’m not sure which lane I want to take. Thank you!

    I think not needing a degree is dependent on where you live, in the Boston area it's pretty impossible to even get an interview without a CS degree.

      @@nicoleenesse Even a SOC analyst position requires a BS. Also, you have to figure the competition in the Boston area is MIT and Harvard. Unfortunately, a CS degree is an entry-level requirement.

    Hello Nicole! Please forgive me if this is a dumb question as I am new to your channel, but where can I find your career pathway? I have recently received my Sec + and am enrolled in ECC's CND & CEH (free for me luckily lol) but after that am really wondering what the next step for me should be? Thanks again and great content! very helpful to us!

    • @onthewall425

      Apologies for jumping in here Jayce, I went a similar path of Certs a while ago, and after I got CND and CEH I started to practice my skills on HTB and THM platforms, to prepare for the OSCP. Once I obtained my OSCP, career opportunities opened up and I felt comfortable doing work in both offensive and defense job roles. Hope this helps, and best of luck in your journey.

    hey Nicole! question, my dilemma right now is does having certifications automatically mean you will get paid a higher salary? I have an opportunity right now at the place i am interning at, small IT company for cyber security. they are excited about having me join them, and are willing to train me on everything. I am super excited about it but at the same time i feel like i should focus first and foremost on certifications to prove my worth to employers? but i also know a guy who runs his own IT company and has not a cert to his name but is a computer genius

    • @nicoleenesse
      @nicoleenesse  3 роки тому +5

      Hey Noodle! It doesn't mean a higher salary. Experience is always most important when it comes to pay in the tech world. That being said, it could be used as a bargaining chip, depending on the employer and how much they value certificates. Large bureaucratic organizations are more likely to pay more for degrees and certs. Smaller organizations usually just care about skills/experience. I would focus on gaining the experience and learning as much as you can at the job, save the certs for later. I wasted a lot of time studying for certs when I could have been becoming better at the job I was at.

      @@nicoleenesse thank you Nicole!! I am enrolled in a cert school at the moment, they have crash courses and practice exams and pay for my exam vouchers during my studies(now) i reached out to an IT company and they are so welcoming and willing to train me and join their team. i felt overwhelmed between studying and interning so i chose to only intern every friday full day. i feel like its best i atleast try to knock out these courses and try taking the exams and then dedicate my time to training with them. i’m going to try your approach and give the a+, net+, and security + each one month of dedicated study. i feel split right now, bc id really just like to join their team more time and learn real world scenarios but i feel like if i have the opportunity to take these courses with this school and paid exams i should focus first on that and then add more time go the internship or does that sound silly and like an opportunity i should jump on more? sorry for all the words i really appreciate your videos and guidance and replies!!!

      @@CommunistGangsterComputerGod No worries. I would join the team and learn real-world scenarios. Certs just teaches book knowledge, and it is often outdated.
