I was a bit like this until I heard them live. Sure, I had heard a few more songs that made me intrigued, but live it all came togehter! Fantastic band!
Very interesting track. I'm not sure if I'd say I liked it but parts of it, especially twords the end, were very compelling. I'll have to check out more by these guys.
Agreed to disagree, this album is on my list of best albums of this year, do I understand or like everything?, no I dont, but it keeps me very interesting atleast. It is nothing I will listen to all the time.
The problem with IT is they got a reputation for being a black metal band but they aren’t, so all the black metal dorks (of which I am one too, don’t worry) go in expecting something like Behemoth at the very least. Imperial is just weird avante garde Metal from some jazz dudes from New York, and if you approach it like that it makes a lot more sense.
I've listened to a few of their songs before and always come to the same conclusion that this is too chaotic for my simple brain. It's just too hard to find a grip on this one. Maybe you could react to band that combines blues, gospel and black metal: Zeal & Ardor - Firewake ua-cam.com/video/4fs6ONXskb4/v-deo.html
For real. I actually had to do a double take to make sure I heard him correctly. Also calling a soprano sax a flute boggled my mind. Reeded wind instruments sound so different from non-reeded wind instruments.
I have a friend that described them to me as: it sounds like when you hit your elbow in something and it goes numb, but in a good way.
You have undeveloped ears. It’s okay.
Hey, be easy on toddlers, they haven't grown up yet.

Actually you're right. It's fancy experimental avant garde stuff. Weird for its own sake like Zappa. I have strange tastes. Thanks for checking it out

...ever heard of jazz fusion? Emperor is not jazz fusion...
Uff you really are untrained to extreme metal. How can you even compare this to Emperor? Couldnt be any more different
