Wow, just searched for these guys after hearing Thomas Haake praise Kenny in a video. This is the first time I really see a drummer fuse jazz and extreme metal with such ease. Amazing drumming.
I listened to this band when they're first record came out cuz I was on a black metal kick but kinda forgot about them. Got intrigued recently cuz I'm a sucker for art deco and gypsy jazz. Watched their tour of the Chrysler building and they came off as kinda pretentious but I'm slowly coming to love the music and vibe.
They're deffo not pretentious, they just do a lot of advertising and marketing, probably because they want this to be their job which I totally understand. When it comes to the music though they obviously know what they're doing.
They fucking deserve to be pretentious hahaa listen to that ^ nah I don't think they are, I think they're cool amd have a cool style and appreciate style
This guy has Tomas Haake`s seal of approval and i can understand why. I do personally think that Haake is the best drummer in all of metal, but i don`t think Kenny is far behind i think he would be in the tier just below Haake with drummers like Danny Carey, Inferno(Behemoth), George Kollias(Nile)
I stopped listening new HM-Stuff 20 Years ago. So this is what Happens since than. Wow... Must be the same Schock for People allways Listening to Mozart and then Hearing Schönberg 12Tone-Symphonie... I'm a little bit confused. Just gimme time. Its a fault of my Ears! Not of the Music!
Hope you've come around since. If not and are still open, please give Deathspell Omega, Ad Nauseam, and Ehnahre all fair shots. The former two are big Penderecki fans (I believe) and the latter were very much into Schoenberg/12-tone for a bit.
1. I fucking love this, and you and your band are incredible. 2. Great song and good video of you playing it. But, would/could you upload a version of it with just the drums or the rest of the mix turned down significantly, if it wasn't recorded/mixed live? I'm having trouble understanding what's going on at times.
6:16 I was fucking scared. This sound like the end of the world. Nuclear blast ? I dont know... Russia will blow the Earth ? Or USA ? Damn... your music is anxious... and I LOVE IT ! Thanks.

Ulcerate is good, but Imperial Triumphant is so much more original than them. I honestly don’t understand how you could hear Ulcerate at all, besides the dissonance. This is literally black metal Frank Zappa.
I love everything about imperial triumphant except for the vocals. They are so annoying 😑 they are all so skilled yet the growling sounds like a 10th grader trying to do „the most evil death metal ever“. At that level of musicality with instruments the vocalist better be a Travis Ryan, Phil Bozeman or Chris McMahon imho. Fucking great playing though, Kenny!!! 🖤🥁
Non of those vocalists would fit this style. The IT vocals to me actually sounds like a demented cult leader giving a sermon (which is kind of what they're going for) while those other vocalist either sound like a demon or just bland RAW RAW RAW with no emotion or theatrics.
@@billybobthekidiswack I’m sorry - you misunderstood my point 😯 I did not say that Bozeman or McMahon (both of which have plenty of emotion in their voices - just listen to „without us“ by Whitechapel or „they will know another“ by TAIM) would fit into ITs sound. I just took them as an example for top notch vocalists who have a wide range of sounds at hand. ☺️
That snare felt so many ghost notes that it's starting to turn invisible. Insanely good as always!
Ghost nuts. It was covered
the unhinged timing of the left hand at 4:52 always gets me

This is incredible, Kenny is amazing! The dynamic range of his playing is just insane and so musical. This whole band rules!
and to imagine someone called you sloppy... I just laughed in their face and forwarded all drum vids I could find from Kenny...
It's amazing to hear someone pack so much stylistic and dynamic range into one song and still have it flow coherently.
I love his style is unique
This is some Zappa era Vinnie Colaiuta type shit with blast beats. Amazing
The dynamic range on this is awesome.
Dude, you're like the Bozzio of extreme metal drumming! Love the speed, accuracy, and economy of movement.
the opening riff is so nasty good
VEXED IS THE DROID
Amazing drumming Kenny, love this album

I just can’t stop watching this. Kenny is a beast.
Inspired me to get a 4 piece kit.
Kenny is a monster.
this is... the best black metal video I ever see in whole life
Here because of Thomas Haak's interview
Amazing!
Uuuffff estos tipos son Brutales 🤟
the music's amazing
Insane.
Having seen it preformed live in Močvara last month, it was definitely insane!
Impresionante como toca este hombre.
Love the fact he is using a pearl export snare hahha 🤣⚔️🤘🏻
Seriously! And he makes it sound so good too
so good!!
Man that build on the floor and crash is fuckin sick
Tomas Haake brought me here.
Grace in execution of brutality.
Big fan!
Awesome!!!
Those cymbal chokes
Sophisticated aggression
What a treat, even for us non drummers
GEEZ
you know what, you are so lit!
If *Tomas Haake* says you're good, you're good!
Wow!
Это охуительно! Супер.
Digging the Primus vibe on this one, kinda like a less groovy Korn with the angular dissonant guitar work 👌

My brother in Christ - check out Elliot Hoffman. He’s right there with Haake.
Interesting drummer
Can someone please explain to me what the hell is happening at 4:53? I´ve been thrown off by this section since the first listen
It’s called an Accelerando. It’s self explanatory. Increases in speed.
I know right! I've never seen a blast beat like that, it's so tasteful
1:39 Smooth
Oh wow. Unbelievable player. Couldn’t believe the jazzy things he was playing in there
oh my satan is fucking awesome
Someone explain the signature of 4:52

This particular version is recorded live, I believe, it's off their live at the slipper room album
Why use a click track when you have ring wraith
I’m the 666th like… I’m extremely proud of myself.

Man...you really need to learn how to play. My god so much insane awesomeness in here.
I don't understand your sentences. So does he need to learn how to play, or is he insanely awesome? Can't be both
@@tranquil87 lol Its so obviously clear he's an awesome drummer that its scary that people can't tell what a joke is

Top shit
Here because of Haake
🌚!!!!!
This is great video but cant hear the drums very well unfortunately.
absolute goat shit
Jazz facility with metal tendency.
is the audio out of synch with the visuals for anyone else? audio seems to be several beats behind the visual
bruh
It would be even better if I could hear the drums
Off-brand ulcerate

Beautiful drumming - ugly music
One might make the case that it's ugly, but that is absolutely not to say it is bad or inferior due to its "ugliness".
