    The blades were forced onto him as a sign of his slavery to Ares, the axe was given to him by his wife.
    But this spear, is just..his…no one else’s…it’s not a heirloom, nor a binding token, it’s just his own weapon, and is a reflection of who he was before becoming a god, and who he is now as a reformed god.

    • @BitrateBilly
      @BitrateBilly 6 місяців тому +9

      its also because it can duplicate, heimdall is not only dealing with a weapon that he doesnt fully understand, but its also one that demands he split his focus on, which is straight up a hard counter to him, given he reads minds, so he has too many things to pay attention too and it allows kratos to land the hits needed to fully throw him off.

    • @charliecomer6001
      @charliecomer6001 6 місяців тому +5

      That and kratos is still holding back, combined with just how much heimdall relied on his power. Kratos has dealt with arguably faster opponents than heimdall, so there is the possibility that he's DELIBERATELY going slow to test heimdalls reaction speed. Notice how during phase 1, kratos moves a little faster each time heimdall is stunned, up to the point where he actually had to BLOCK, meaning kratos had the ability to strike him.

      @@Pattabazza I can’t ignore the coincidences. According to the Wiki:
      Odin (/ˈoʊdɪn/;[1] from Old Norse: Óðinn, IPA: [ˈoːðenː]) is a widely revered god in Germanic paganism. Norse mythology, the source of most surviving information about him, associates him with wisdom, healing, death, royalty, the gallows, knowledge, war, battle, victory, sorcery, poetry, frenzy, and the runic alphabet, and depicts him as the husband of the goddess Frigg.
      A lot of what gets associated in Odin can be reinterpreted as something Kratos has acquired in ways coincidentally like Odin did in mythology.
      -Speaks to the Head of Mimir (who is his adviser) and was directly responsible for bringing Mimir back to life
      -Is implied to be marrying Freya at the end of Ragnarok, meaning he is ALSO “marrying Frigg”
      -carries a spear whose functions are suspiciously similar to Gungnir’s legendary effects
      -also carries Draupnir ring
      -he collects poetry
      -he leads the Vanir and Aesir to true coexistence
      Among many other deeds.
      I would argue that Kratos CAN be Odin. Or is, by historical or mythological misinterpretation. A common theme throughout both games is that what is remembered by history is often a distortion of the true story of the events, warped by time and retellings both benign and malicious. The irl Norse Lore as well has many missing pieces of its Prose Edda and Poetic Eda due to Time and other misinterpretations clouding the details. So saying, Kratos could fit right in to the mythos and assume the best parts of Odin’s lore while being mistaken for Odin if the writers choose to have him there.
      As for the matter of Farbauti, the giants named him that as well as naming Atreus “Loki,” as you said. This does not stop Farbauti from being Kratos (or vice versa), or Atreus from being Loki (or vice versa). Nor would it stop the two from being named other things, or assuming other titles. As a matter of fact, a mere three names is NOTHING compared to IRL Odin. Odin in mythology famously has a ridiculously long list of names attributed to him (seriously, check out the wiki and type “List of Odin’s Names,” and see how long it takes to scroll down), all attributed to deeds he did, nicknames he acquired, or identities he assumed as a traveler. Kratos can likewise have more than one title or name, as well as multiple roles in this story.
      And I will argue one of those roles IS Odin. Inheriting his role as All-Father, leader of Aesir and Vanir, uniter of worlds and new commander of the Einherjar, Valkyries, and the new world, Kratos has everything lined up to step into the role as the new Odin.

    I like to think that Draupnir spear as Kratos's true weapon in the norse era of God of War. While Kratos will always cherish the Leviathan Axe (as it was the weapon of his beloved wife) and has begrungingly accepted the Blades of Chaos as a part of himself (as well as not being able to get rid of them), the Draupnir spear is the weapon that is the most fitting for Kratos himself. As a spear it serves a symbol of his spartan heritage, as it the weapon all spartans learn to use, and resembles the Arms of Sparta, another spear that symbolizes Kratos's homeland. Additonally, the Draupnir Spear, compliments his Gaurdian Shield, given it's resemblance to an aspis shield, a greek sheild that was often paired with a spear.
